hmm was that sylvia miles or carole king...i think carole got a little tangled up in the wood prior to the performance...years back she wrote this song specifically for james taylor...adding yet another song that james sings and did not write to his repetoire...
but to his credit he pumps out several new cd's per year for the past several years and has had many performances...
i am an avid james taylor fan and find it fascinating that most of the music he is famous for is not his own...
yes, i do believe that carol also handed/penned JT's only number one on the charts (You've Got a Friend)- this performance is a little off due the vastly different arrangements/interpretations that Carol and James did with the song,...probably not a good idea. I heard them both perform it beautifully on their own. Sam
I used to have a recording of them performing this together when Carole King's voice was still fresh. James Taylor still sounds great, but sorry, King is just plain off.
Thank you SO much for posting this video. What a rare treat to see Carole and James together. What a stunning performance! Can you imagine the energy in the air that night. Amazing!!

Carole wrote this in '62 way before she met James Taylor. I read that she and Gerry Goffin composed most of the song in a taxi on Brooklyn Bridge.
