You lot are missing the point to my comment about the yardbirds, Why do you think Eric left ? Too commercial, in other words mid-sixties shit ! Clapton is my hero, I love the bearded messiah ! But that early yardbirds stuff didn't pull my plonker. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I honestly believe that most people just say the yardbirds were good for the sake of it. The late sixties was the best era for music but there was a patch where everyone was just trying to be like the beatles.
I heard that The Who might do a Quadrophenia tour sometime in the near future. If they did, and could get David to play on a night and sing "The Dirty Jobs", my life would be compete. Roger sounds amazing, just saw his Tommy set this past October. They could do it. They NEED to do it.
@twylerchill Yes I do. This was David's last performance in which he used the wireless equipment with his Hiwatt amps and guitars and the last time that the Candy Apple Red Stratocaster was his main guitar in front of a huge audience. To those who bellyache of Gilmour's bum notes should shut up and he once said "I'm only human". David almost did the 1989 Who Tour but Pink Floyd had a European Tour booked through summer 1989.
Fucking love the who, along with Peter Green, The Yardbirds, The Beatles, The Bluesbreakers, The Kinks and The Stones. Thank fuck for the 60's because British music since the naughties has been SHIT!!!!

Grandioso e toccante! Come avrei voluto essere li! I re del rock, provati, sciupati dalla rara sorte, sopravissuti, fragili, sinceri. Come in Rimbaud: Il mio cuore messo a nudo.
Long life to DAVID, PETE, ROGER ! LOVE REIGN OER YOU!
@werbeboard David wasn't a mess, he just didn't use a capo on his guitar (like Pete and Simon Townshend and Geoff Whitehorn were during different parts of the show). The 2-part harmony leads of Whitehorn and Gilmour during the chorus was brilliant. David's bluesy solo, especially the ending was excellent, a few fluffed notes here and there. As the man once said when he goofed on recording a song for his On an Island album which was captured on film "I'm flustered, I'm only human".
David Gilmour performing with his buddy Pete Townshend for the first time in 15 years here. This was after Pink Floyd were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This was the last time David would perform with wireless rig with his electric guitars on stage. The two guitars I associate with Gilmour are THE BLACK STRAT (which he used in classic Floyd and brought out of retirement in 2003) and THE CANDY APPLE RED STRAT (his main post-Waters era Floyd guitar).
Yes ,Townshend was cautioned by the police when he was arrested in 2003,and accepted being placed on the sex register for five years, rather than get dragged through the courts.
just imagine people that beiber shit has over 600mil views...n this EPIC band and song has only a million....cmon!! whats wrong with people now a days...!!!!???
@masihanant Who fans cant sit aroud all day watching vids like the 14 year old girls who watch that pussy emo loser. plus who fans have so many more songs to choose from. Still it is sad. thumbs up to you.
@masihanant Its because those people are not aware because this band existed a long time ago and because everytime you mention Bieber you are making him more popular. Don't mention Bieber when I am trying to forget him. Don't mention Bieber when I am listening to great music. Don't mention Bieber and he will disapear sooner then if you keep talking about him. You are making Bieber popular and you don't even know it.

@tjrtherocksponge Well then seems like we have a lot in common after all? I play guitar, bass, used to sit in on drums (not great, but certainly proficient) and mostly back-up vocals, although I have done leads here and there. My music tends to be very eclectic. Certainly the rock of my generation (60's and 70's), but I also love playing blues, jazz, even a little ska shit once in a while. My kids turn me on to newer stuff. Speaking of Cobain, I AM a foo fighter fan though...
@tjrtherocksponge Oh bite me you pseudo-audiophile. I've been Gilmour and Daltry fans before you were born. So don't be telling me to watch some Shitney Spears video. I've been playing guitar since i was ten, and in my late fifties now, and I have probably experienced and listened to more music than you have. Been in bands my whole life. So watch who you try to "school" about music ok?
@referencekabguy i know right...This is epic and all, the who is one of or the best rock kband ever but...Im just trying to look at th epositives of this video :P....
@referencekabguy his screamos or whatever u want to call what he's doing here in this video..are mostly on fasletto, that last note was more than pathetic. This band is heroic from what i see ...It leaves it's history all over youtube even, i love their workk and so do millions of others...But i just have to say this performance was rather disappointing.
@candym16414, Actually favorite is not a slang, by the American English that's the correct way of spelling it. British's spell it with the u, as in 'Favour'.
Actually, favourite is the correct way to spell the word, the other way is "slang'. "Broken" your English teacher is turning over in their grave; plus horrible usage of grammar.
I only recently found the demo-track townshend (as the songwriter of the band) did for this track. It's stunning and sounds a lot like the finished song. And when I see how Daltrey performs it - I get this certain felling that he thinks of it as "his" song. Of coure he does a great job on the vocals but this is definitley Townshends song. It's kind of sad seeing him there on the stage with his acoustic guitar looking a bit lost. I can't imagine that daltrey and townshend got along very well...
Think in 15 years anyone's going to give a care about Pitbull? Not a chance. The hit counter on this video tells me that there are still people with some level of sanity out there, now I just need to figure out how to find them!
I listened more carefully, and I'm pretty sure I can now hear the mic hitting the stage floor (Yikes! Those little buggers aren't cheap.). Of all the videos I've looked at, this is without doubt the best live version. Roger's voice is absolutely on fire! As a percussionist, I would have loved playing this gig.
that's amazing, gilmour's floydish guitar makes this sound like a fusion of the who and pink floyd, and daltrey's singing is better than it is on record
Oh and Toholin, the mic was purposfully left to hit the floor. Rock and Roll!!!!! I seem to remember him doing it a few times. Clapton and bob dylan were on after them that was amazing too. Seperately of course.
Amazing gig!!! God 1996 i was only 15!! Check me out im the kid at 2.13 with short hair black jacket. Left the oldies at the back whilst i up close. Glad i wasnt too close though as Garry Glitter was on with them!
Did Roger lose his mic at the end? He's twirling it and catching it, but his hands are empty after the last catch, and it looks like he drops the mic lead (without a mic) on the stage.
OMG! real instruments, live singing WITHOUT auto-tune, words that make sense instead of just strung together for flow...Luda Kanye and Fiddy should listen and learn how to write sing and perform live....
A damn impressive live performance of one of those memorable, nostalgic, "what in the hell ever happened to those days" songs. David Gilmour just blows the doors off of life; my favorite guitar man behind SRV.
i was at that gig it was one hell of a line up bob dylan alanis morriset eric clapton the who all compared by billy connelly phil daniels was on a massive screen talking and introduced his uncle dave the bus driver before mr gilmore walked on
@TheBeatlefloyd from what I've read up on the Who he has been there drummer for a while after Keith Moon died.... they had another drummer as well, but I don't think he stuck around for long...
1:13 , i didnt read the description, i just pissed myself seeing David Gilmour and Pete Townshend next to each other, oh wait, i do that everytime i watch videos of them... LONG LIVE THE WHO LONG LIVE PINK FLOYD FTW!!!!!!!!!!!
das nenn ich nen live auftritt, richtig geil, der sänger hat es richtig drauf. ich hätt mi das nich angeschaut, wenn ich eben nich die liebe in mir angeschaut hätte. richtiiig gut der film
What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!!! Keep up the good work. Have A Splendid Day!!!!
Alright !! This is the second time I've seen this video but this time something caught my eye, The pretty woman on percussion. I'm sure she was the same woman that played percussion with Mike Oldfield on his Tubular Bells III tour, right? Anyone know her name???
@Wollenschrank - Interesting, I couldn't agree more. Btw, did you get a response from Jesus yet? Was it Rank or other? Over-rated fee-cal matter. Could you recommend something of quality please.?
@Wollenschrank the thousands of people who viewed this video disagree with you, and the thousands of peopl you see in the audience that paid to see THE WHO play dont agree with you either, sorry
This was at hyde park back in the 90s, I was there, He got the eye pacth because in rehearsals, Garry Glitter was swinging his microphone around on stage and he got hit in the eye.
@lasvegasplease wow I thought that the eye patch was for some kind of fashion thanks for the information dude I am a crazy who's fan and I congratulate you for the privilege of have been there
I love my dad to bits and im so grateful to him for introducing me to the who but im also so so jealous of the fact he got to them live so many times!!!
I was there and Mark Boy is right it was cold for june and I was sick but the show made me better. It was my last outdoor festival though. Traveled across the pond to see THE WHO for the 10th time in my life. Priceless!!!
Just like back in the old days...I wish I was from the UK. Classic. Love the addition of the irresistable David G. into the classic mix of the Who. Like someone else said...I need a time machine!! I love it when artists do what they do....life enriching, soul inspiring, mogo enhancing LOVE....PLEASE reign on all of us!
I really wish I was there but I was only two :(

Hi
This was at hyde park back in the 90s, I was there, He got the eye pacth because in rehearsals, Garry Glitter was swinging his microphone around on stage and he got hit in the eye.

Thumbs up if you think Love Reign O'er Me is one of Daltrey's best performance (live as studio)!
Potemkyne 10 months ago
Man, that solo really missed.
And apparently Roger Daltrey is in the Illuminati.
TheDreamMechanic 10 months ago
@TheDreamMechanic the illuminati is a group of physicists from the 15th century, I highly doubt roger daltrey is either of those things.
