  • I really wish I was there but I was only two :(

  • benzogus1

  • You lot are missing the point to my comment about the yardbirds, Why do you think Eric left ? Too commercial, in other words mid-sixties shit ! Clapton is my hero, I love the bearded messiah ! But that early yardbirds stuff didn't pull my plonker. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I honestly believe that most people just say the yardbirds were good for the sake of it. The late sixties was the best era for music but there was a patch where everyone was just trying to be like the beatles.

  • THIS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE CLASSICs, DIDN'T THINK IT COULD OR NEEDED TO GET ANY BETTER BUT...GILMOUR JUST PUTS A CHERRY ON THE TOP:)

  • I heard that The Who might do a Quadrophenia tour sometime in the near future. If they did, and could get David to play on a night and sing "The Dirty Jobs", my life would be compete. Roger sounds amazing, just saw his Tommy set this past October. They could do it. They NEED to do it.

  • What's the point of the yardbirds ? Muffled British mid sixties shit. Best song probably "Louise" !

  • @73moley Muffled British mid sixties shit? The Yardbirds and the rest of British mid sixties rock and roll is amazing.

  • @73moley seriously?? Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and JIMMY PAGE = shit for you??? Duuuuuuuuuuddeee you gotta review your thoughts! Come on!

  • anyone besides me notice david gilmour

  • @twylerchill Yes I do. This was David's last performance in which he used the wireless equipment with his Hiwatt amps and guitars and the last time that the Candy Apple Red Stratocaster was his main guitar in front of a huge audience. To those who bellyache of Gilmour's bum notes should shut up and he once said "I'm only human". David almost did the 1989 Who Tour but Pink Floyd had a European Tour booked through summer 1989.

  • Fucking love the who, along with Peter Green, The Yardbirds, The Beatles, The Bluesbreakers, The Kinks and The Stones. Thank fuck for the 60's because British music since the naughties has been SHIT!!!!

  • So 240p, we met again...

  • FUCKING NICE!

  • Wow.

  • EPIC!

  • Roger, love, may I hold you and never let go?

  • Remembering the FM days when you went down the road listening to your favorite band on the radio. I sure dont believe we have advanced at all. Sad to say I miss getting my latest hits via radio. Thumbs up if you feel the same

  • Roger's voice is awesome!

    Gilmour was ordinary... :/

  • Nowadays, nobody will ever be such a poet. Why does the girl to which this song is dedicated just understands : let's get drunk and sing in the shower tonight ?

  • @DenisJUMONT it is sedate: we know that love may cause us the biggest pain in life.... like a curse,,,, yet - we 'pray' cry out - love....reign over me - love, lead me, guide me... Don't you hear the pain in his voice???? I realised it ... Only love can make such a mark Only Love Can Heal Such A Scar. Love, I have a broken heart - Love I wanna surrender to you - Love - Reign Over Me.... Caterina.

  • I guarantee you this, someone in that crowd was crying that day.

  • Roger is hard to listen to. Is he drunk or High?

  • @phgallant Probably both, son

  • squeeze box

  • Grandioso e toccante! Come avrei voluto essere li! I re del rock, provati, sciupati dalla rara sorte, sopravissuti, fragili, sinceri. Come in Rimbaud: Il mio cuore messo a nudo.

Long life to DAVID, PETE, ROGER ! LOVE REIGN OER YOU!

  • david gilmour is a mess on this

  • @werbeboard David wasn't a mess, he just didn't use a capo on his guitar (like Pete and Simon Townshend and Geoff Whitehorn were during different parts of the show). The 2-part harmony leads of Whitehorn and Gilmour during the chorus was brilliant. David's bluesy solo, especially the ending was excellent, a few fluffed notes here and there. As the man once said when he goofed on recording a song for his On an Island album which was captured on film "I'm flustered, I'm only human".

  • Great song but what is Daltrey thinking? Did David Bowie appear to him in a dream and say, "Roger do something freaky"?

  • is roger havig promblems hitting the high notes?

  • David Gilmour performing with his buddy Pete Townshend for the first time in 15 years here. This was after Pink Floyd were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This was the last time David would perform with wireless rig with his electric guitars on stage. The two guitars I associate with Gilmour are THE BLACK STRAT (which he used in classic Floyd and brought out of retirement in 2003) and THE CANDY APPLE RED STRAT (his main post-Waters era Floyd guitar).

  • how about those tube amps

  • wish i could have seen them at there peek ,brilliant!!!!!

  • hab mir grad den Film mit Adam Sandler angekuckt, der Song passt perfegt dazu

  • That is a charitable assessment of the guitar solo, I'm afraid.

  • Sorry, but Gilmours solo is..well...let´s say..not pure inspiration...

  • Yes ,Townshend was cautioned by the police when he was arrested in 2003,and accepted being placed on the sex register for five years, rather than get dragged through the courts.

  • I don't know about the backing vocals. It should just be Roger alone.

  • @driffter1976 Agreed:~)

  • Be here because of THEO HUTCHCRAFT ! ♥ And the Gema :(

  • Be here because in Germany we can't play the original video, Theo Hutchcraft showed in his tweet ♥

  • It was the best choice to place this song into the same named movie. :)

  • townshend and gilmour.....this is not music this magic

  • Roger Daltey icon

  • just imagine people that beiber shit has over 600mil views...n this EPIC band and song has only a million....cmon!! whats wrong with people now a days...!!!!???

  • @masihanant beiber sucks balls, why do people have to mention him on every video on here, he should do the world a favour and die

  • @masihanant Who fans cant sit aroud all day watching vids like the 14 year old girls who watch that pussy emo loser. plus who fans have so many more songs to choose from. Still it is sad. thumbs up to you.

  • @masihanant Why people always bring Beiber up on these videos is what I think is wrong

  • @masihanant Their souls are being erased.

  • @masihanant fuck him! THE WHO & PINK FLOYD <3

  • @masihanant youth, mass hysteria/media, sign of the times, progressive degeneration.

  • @masihanant Its because those people are not aware because this band existed a long time ago and because everytime you mention Bieber you are making him more popular. Don't mention Bieber when I am trying to forget him. Don't mention Bieber when I am listening to great music. Don't mention Bieber and he will disapear sooner then if you keep talking about him. You are making Bieber popular and you don't even know it.

  • @BurnTheEnvelope this was in 1996

  • gilmour + the who = thank you God of Music

  • awesome name graciagas for the post

  • This is LIVE MAGIC!

  • god dropped this song from heaven

  • OMG

  • OMG, the words, the music, the voice, the emotions! i am in awe everytime!

  • Wow!!! thats all i need to say...

  • Only love can bring the rain ( the whoooo)

  • Long Live RD

  • @tjrtherocksponge Well then seems like we have a lot in common after all? I play guitar, bass, used to sit in on drums (not great, but certainly proficient) and mostly back-up vocals, although I have done leads here and there. My music tends to be very eclectic. Certainly the rock of my generation (60's and 70's), but I also love playing blues, jazz, even a little ska shit once in a while. My kids turn me on to newer stuff. Speaking of Cobain, I AM a foo fighter fan though...

  • I was just about to say, "its probebly not david gilmour", then i read the description

  • One of my favorite bands of all time!!!!!

  • @tjrtherocksponge Oh bite me you pseudo-audiophile. I've been Gilmour and Daltry fans before you were born. So don't be telling me to watch some Shitney Spears video. I've been playing guitar since i was ten, and in my late fifties now, and I have probably experienced and listened to more music than you have. Been in bands my whole life. So watch who you try to "school" about music ok?

  • i just wish keith was still alive, he would of made this song sooooooo much better thumbs up if you agree

  • 1996? Roger looks like he's in the 80's! Oh the fashions!

  • this sucks. daltry is sooooooo out of tune. gilmour looks out of place. just a shame.

  • @referencekabguy i know right...This is epic and all, the who is one of or the best rock kband ever but...Im just trying to look at th epositives of this video :P....

  • @referencekabguy his screamos or whatever u want to call what he's doing here in this video..are mostly on fasletto, that last note was more than pathetic. This band is heroic from what i see ...It leaves it's history all over youtube even, i love their workk and so do millions of others...But i just have to say this performance was rather disappointing.

  • @Arturostunes

dude, it's just that when you grow up with the who, in all of their glory, making such

fantastic music, and then see them do something as shitty as this, and not to mention

dave gilmour who is one of the best guitar players ever to LIVE, doing something so

shitty, it must makes you sad! i don't know if roger lost his chops or if he is just too old.

sometimes there comes a time to pack it all in, and rest on your past accomplishments.

    no shame there.

  • townshend is wearing a red members only jacket. daltry is singing way out of tune. this sucks. gilmore looks like a mormon.

  • one of the best who songs ever ,,,,, listen to behind blues eyes bang tidy tune

  • Comment removed

  • i fucking love keith moon.

  • Hay que agradecer a Dios por canciones como esta!!!!

  • since when is Dr. Cox singer of the Who :D

  • this song makes me heart stops....

  • Hurricane Irene RAIN ON ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NEW PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND TYPE ''INNERSPACEBAND'' ON FACEBOOK. THANK YOU

  • @Sim2428 nah, piss off

  • @candym16414, Actually favorite is not a slang, by the American English that's the correct way of spelling it. British's spell it with the u, as in 'Favour'.

  • Actually, favourite is the correct way to spell the word, the other way is "slang'. "Broken" your English teacher is turning over in their grave; plus horrible usage of grammar.

  • Rolota!!

  • My favourite band playing my favourite song along with my favourite guitarist Heaven.

  • @brokenchord6 you misspelled "favorite" a buncha times

  • @TheGatosarnoso don't you mean misspelt? ;) ;) Anyway, now I know why Pearl Jam covered this song :)

  • It,s a shame Peter done all what he did,if your a rockstar your okay ,bet gary glitter wish,s he had his breif.

  • I only recently found the demo-track townshend (as the songwriter of the band) did for this track. It's stunning and sounds a lot like the finished song. And when I see how Daltrey performs it - I get this certain felling that he thinks of it as "his" song. Of coure he does a great job on the vocals but this is definitley Townshends song. It's kind of sad seeing him there on the stage with his acoustic guitar looking a bit lost. I can't imagine that daltrey and townshend got along very well...

  • If beiber embraces the who, i am ready to forgive him.

  • LOVELY!!! What a rare treat!

  • Where is all the GOOD music??

  • what happend to roger's eye?

  • Think in 15 years anyone's going to give a care about Pitbull? Not a chance. The hit counter on this video tells me that there are still people with some level of sanity out there, now I just need to figure out how to find them!

  • the who+gilmour=perfection

  • I listened more carefully, and I'm pretty sure I can now hear the mic hitting the stage floor (Yikes! Those little buggers aren't cheap.). Of all the videos I've looked at, this is without doubt the best live version. Roger's voice is absolutely on fire! As a percussionist, I would have loved playing this gig.

  • that's amazing, gilmour's floydish guitar makes this sound like a fusion of the who and pink floyd, and daltrey's singing is better than it is on record

  • the ox was the man rip john

  • lolol dr cox xDD

  • simply FUCKING AWESOME!

  • Oh and Toholin, the mic was purposfully left to hit the floor. Rock and Roll!!!!! I seem to remember him doing it a few times. Clapton and bob dylan were on after them that was amazing too. Seperately of course.

  • Amazing gig!!! God 1996 i was only 15!! Check me out im the kid at 2.13 with short hair black jacket. Left the oldies at the back whilst i up close. Glad i wasnt too close though as Garry Glitter was on with them!

  • Did Roger lose his mic at the end? He's twirling it and catching it, but his hands are empty after the last catch, and it looks like he drops the mic lead (without a mic) on the stage.

  • is that woman on percussion the same that jammed with zappa?

  • OMG! real instruments, live singing WITHOUT auto-tune, words that make sense instead of just strung together for flow...Luda Kanye and Fiddy should listen and learn how to write sing and perform live....

  • awesome.

  • why has he got an eyepatch on?

  • @douglasdunham622 Wow, dude really? He had a freaking broken eye socket, and almost lost his eye.... and yet, still went on and sang at the concert!

  • Oooowwww yeeessssss

  • dave gilmore just tucked in there

  • A damn impressive live performance of one of those memorable, nostalgic, "what in the hell ever happened to those days" songs. David Gilmour just blows the doors off of life; my favorite guitar man behind SRV.

  • i was at that gig it was one hell of a line up bob dylan alanis morriset eric clapton the who all compared by billy connelly phil daniels was on a massive screen talking and introduced his uncle dave the bus driver before mr gilmore walked on

  • Dave Gilmour rocks

  • I grew up to this stuff, rock and roll history and magic

  • Is that Zac Starkey?

  • @TheBeatlefloyd i beleive so, he toured wit the who for awhile

  • @TheBeatlefloyd from what I've read up on the Who he has been there drummer for a while after Keith Moon died.... they had another drummer as well, but I don't think he stuck around for long...

  • @krismason123456789 kenny jones from the faces.....he was there in the early 80's...

  • 1:13 , i didnt read the description, i just pissed myself seeing David Gilmour and Pete Townshend next to each other, oh wait, i do that everytime i watch videos of them... LONG LIVE THE WHO LONG LIVE PINK FLOYD FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tjrtherocksponge Cool. Thanks man.

  • gilmore makes a pure cunt of it near the end.its the first time ive heard something like that?

  • that dirty paedophile gary glitter hit roger in the eye with his mic stand.

  • @accadaccasuperstar

yeah i remember that. i was at this concert in 96. eric clapton was on fire that night as well.

  • Una carica di adrenalina.^ò^

  • can you imagine ... magic

  • Of course Gilmour is playing the harmonies! Awesome!

  • I was at this concert!! Man, so cool seeing them live! Also saw them practice the day before.

  • Oh ya some of the best in classic rock!!

  • FUCK thats a big ass crowd

  • das nenn ich nen live auftritt, richtig geil, der sänger hat es richtig drauf. ich hätt mi das nich angeschaut, wenn ich eben nich die liebe in mir angeschaut hätte. richtiiig gut der film

  • Thank you very much for Sharing!!!!!

What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!!! Keep up the good work. Have A Splendid Day!!!!

    A New Friend

    Erick

  • Alright !! This is the second time I've seen this video but this time something caught my eye, The pretty woman on percussion. I'm sure she was the same woman that played percussion with Mike Oldfield on his Tubular Bells III tour, right? Anyone know her name???

  • Come on, Roger, you can do it!

  • David is using his red strat?? I'm aware of his red one but have never seen him play it.

  • Jesus Christ, what a shit is that? Who are these awful people singing such a shit?

  • @Wollenschrank - Interesting, I couldn't agree more. Btw, did you get a response from Jesus yet? Was it Rank or other? Over-rated fee-cal matter. Could you recommend something of quality please.?

  • @Wollenschrank the thousands of people who viewed this video disagree with you, and the thousands of peopl you see in the audience that paid to see THE WHO play dont agree with you either, sorry

  • @Judoking96

Thousands wankers who viewed this fuckin vid and thousands old fuckers at that boring concert don't agree wtih me? Who the fuck cares?

    Motörhead rules the world!

  • why roger uses an eye patch?

  • @MsLarrymoe

    Hi

This was at hyde park back in the 90s, I was there, He got the eye pacth because in rehearsals, Garry Glitter was swinging his microphone around on stage and he got hit in the eye.

  • @lasvegasplease wow I thought that the eye patch was for some kind of fashion thanks for the information dude I am a crazy who's fan and I congratulate you for the privilege of have been there

  • If your eye causes you to sin pluck it out. Then slap on a way cool eye patch with an eye drawn on with a sharpe.

  • REPLAY

  • I love my dad to bits and im so grateful to him for introducing me to the who but im also so so jealous of the fact he got to them live so many times!!!

  • Gotta love Gilmour's suspenders.

  • the who and guilmore :O

  • I think I can sing better than this...

  • @gotvapes Yeah, right, that's why Gilmour is a legend, because can you sing better than him. What was your name again ?

  • @hiwearethemafia just sayin', doesn't sound so good on this...

  • If I was gonna go back in time it would be to 1970 at the Isle of Wight not this garbage.

  • @Lickamyleica If i could go back in time i would go back and invest in apple and microsoft

  • You can't get to where your going by holding on to who you have been...stop looking back unless you intend on going that direction!

  • I was there and Mark Boy is right it was cold for june and I was sick but the show made me better. It was my last outdoor festival though. Traveled across the pond to see THE WHO for the 10th time in my life. Priceless!!!

  • I was there. June and freezing!

  • Love this shit!

  • Dyman! He does look like Dr. Cox!

  • @Randelprandel NO!! DR COX LOOKS LIKE HIM!

  • This song is just so beautiful! <3

  • Thumbs up if you think Love Reign O'er Me is one of Daltrey's best performance (live as studio)!

  • Man, that solo really missed.

And apparently Roger Daltrey is in the Illuminati.

  • @TheDreamMechanic the illuminati is a group of physicists from the 15th century, I highly doubt roger daltrey is either of those things.

  • @ledZeppelin7680

It was a joke brother. You know....the all seeing eye patch.

  • I photographed The Who tiwice in 1976 in Switzerland and in Canada. I invite all to see the shots by going to ianmarkmusicphotos (.com)

  • david choked a bit on the solo but still wonderful

  • OMG O_O, its Wonderfull

  • Hear it on Howard Stern today?

  • David Gilmour + The Who - What more do u want!

  • greatest song ever

  • That's sick!

  • Love this song!!! Classic Who song one of their best!

  • Just like back in the old days...I wish I was from the UK. Classic. Love the addition of the irresistable David G. into the classic mix of the Who. Like someone else said...I need a time machine!! I love it when artists do what they do....life enriching, soul inspiring, mogo enhancing LOVE....PLEASE reign on all of us!

  • These guys are the pride of England... eye patch and all.

  • @connorlangley44 as they should be. arguably the best rock band of all time worldwide.
