The woman involved in the polyandry thing also claimed they received divine revelation to enter into the said practice. The relationship between them and JS was purely platonic. The families and/or husbands were fully supportive of the practice and spoke highly of JS. There is a book I think ALL need to read concerning Mormonism and it's true beliefs. It is called "The God Makers: A Shocking Expose' on What the Mormon Church Really Believes" by Ed Decker and Dave Hunt. So many people are blind to what they the Mormon Church is really about. I do believe in Christ and his atonement. I do believe that family can be together forever no matter how it looks in people's eyes. We have a Father in Heaven who watches and loves us. We did have a life before coming to the earth and we also have a life after death. So, we just do not disappear, but we do have a purpose in our life. Those are a part of messages received in the temple. That's what the church of Jesus Christ of latter days saints believe.

Why did Joseph Smith the first Mormon prophet take women in marriage that were already married to other men? These women continued to live with their first husband and have children with their first husband after they were married to Joseph. I do believe in Christ and his atonement. I do believe that family can be together forever no matter how it looks in people's eyes. We have a Father in Heaven who watches and loves us. We did have a life before coming to the earth and we also have a life after death. So, we just do not disappear, but we do have a purpose in our life. @1ricky77333 first off, i am getting real tired of people assuming i am mormon simply because i defend their right to believe as they choose. my point is the only thing you have to tell yourself that you are right and mormons are wrong is YOUR own conviction that Jesus was truly the Son of God and that the Bible is true. you have no proof, the Bible itself is not even proof. the Bible is simply a record claiming to be divine teachings, but how do you know it is true?

Wow! I feel bad for the people who watch this flick and consider it educational. It takes a lot of blind faith to believe in the words of someone who uses sloppy word tracks and illusions to fool their listeners. If this video wasn't a complete fallacy, the author wouldn't have to lie to prove a point that he can't even convince his own self to be true. Polygamy in Mormonism was an accepted Doctrine before 1890. The state of Utah was then applying for a membership in the Union (USA), but was turned down because of it's practice of Polygamy. The President of LDS then, Wiford Woodruff suddenly have a "vision" that Polygamy in LDS must stop. Woodruff then proclaimed the 1890 Manifesto, ending the practice.
A few years later, the state of Utah was accepted in the Union.

The practice of Polygamy within the church ended prior to the 1900s and if a member were currently practicing than they would be excommunicated. Some have left the church to practice polygamy in what you refer to as these "splinter sects". They are not affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

no he didnt marry lots of women, the reasons why poligamy was practiced is that lots of mormons were being killed off, today nobody practices it, 1 because we dont need to anymore and 2 its alegal
if your wife dies or gets divorced and remarry wouldnt that mean you still have 1 wife which means no poligamy
