that's mainly the reason: because this is different and goes in a diferent direction than all the games. it's like you have a list of games with awesome graphics like Uncharted 2, modern warfare 2, assasins creed 2, etc. then games with a little bit more inferior graphics... but that's basicly the nowadays standard. This game stands out from the croud, and not for a bad reason: just to remind that graphics aren't everything for a game: it's 80% gameplay and 20% graphics TO ME.

There have been a tonne of retro styled games in the past 10 years. Games like Darwinia have twisted the hardware imposed art styles of old into something beautiful. Even Square Enix's Space Invaders Anniversary has something quantly beautiful about it in the way it fused chunky pixels with neon particle explosions. MM10 just isn't in the same league: it's not doing anything new with the style and it's coming off as jarringly ugly.

Capcom found no better way to reboot the mega man series than by going retro style.Think about it, some of the best/memorable mega man games in its history come from the NES. Not too mention that the cost (on Capcom's side) of making an 8-bit game these days is very minimal. MM9 & 10 are accessible but most importantly, recognizable to most gamers who own a Wii,ps3, & 360. Yes Capcom could have gone SNES style or even 3d but I feel they played it safe by implementing this style.
