cant really see the point of these -how do you know what key you are in? is this just for directionless improvised arp/sequencer performance or deos the opperator actually have proper control over the instrument and its sound.

Once you know the instruments you know exacly wich notes you are playing, you can set diferent type of scales, of course it is realy great for improvised music as well all the best!

Are you able to create your own sounds on the tenori-on or can you at least modify the presets? I know you can add your own samples, but does it have a synth engine so you can make your own patches?

Yep, the tenori-on features preset sounds, an SD card so you can add your own samples and can also function as a midi controller.

It has an incredibly sturdy clock, can be used to control an external synth and can also be synced up to another tenori-on.

I've seen many people criticise these innovative devices on youtube but seriously, most of those comments are borne out of ignorance.

Don't be put off, tenori-on offers limitless potential - go on, you know you want one :)
