I can't live in the Now. I don't know how. I get brief moments where i feel a very slight sense of peace when I stop thinking for a short while and focus on my awareness... but I really have no idea what living in the Now actually is. I understand it on an intellectual level, but not on an experience level. I don't know how to do it. And even when I'm not thinking, and I'm not concerned with the future or past, the present still feels shit. :-(
there is no such thing as a senseless event, only events. we either have it within us to make sense of it or we don't. Suffering leads the consciousness within where it becomes in touch with itself and begins to know itself. Feeling, knowing and understanding are found there. When we suffer we ask why. When we stop asking why, we stop suffering... we've either accepted and let go or understood and let go,
@11thhourreprieve Those who reject their own suffering don't go within and find peace, they go without and project anger for their own suffering. This in itself has purpose, their anger at their own suffering causes others to suffer, and it's the others who go within and then find peace... either way peace is found at least for some.

@Magca760 Don't even bother with Yaylin2, friend - this person is just pushing everyone's buttons in Eckhart Tolles' rooms here. Ignore Yaylin2. Pure ignorance.
@timeshhift 'he who knows does not speak, he who speaks does not know' I believe that everything he is saying is true, but i think that people who really experience it don't dwell on it like that. He is just a moneymaker. People like him are labelling it and making it a philosophy or a religion, which is self defeating because it gives people a target for it when it's something people never find when they look for it.you can get it by fishing, cooking, almost dying, dont turn it into a label.
why do people need this guy, hes just repeating ideas he learned from zen and taoism. do you guys need to learn about zen by watching oprah? i like how he is always wearing vests though. If he were truly 'awaked' he wouldn't want so much attention or money. Also you don't live in the now by thinking about the now and writing books about the now. he is actually making it harder for people to wake up by making them think about waking up intellectually. that just makes it harder
@banzaiiish my friend, you are on the right track...even when you say you don't want it, it is still there somewhere in you and this will take you to where you need to go,your preference to be a slave of your thinking is very important as later you'll see that you were never a slave...you are blessed my friend, no step towards the Truth is ever wasted and the effort during those 20 years is guiding you right now....keep going...

Why would we not think it would happen to us? What makes one better than another? Ego, is the only answer, I can think of. I have felt the death of others, before it happened. Yet, mankind wants to see good in one, and not the other. The young man that killed so many @Va. Tech, was as much as a victim as anyone, yet he slide threw the cracks. His country was embarrassed, but they weren't to blame. Those that saw his needs but ignored them are as much to blame as he.
A lot of people are stuck in the then when they didn't want it to be a now so they relive the stuck then as a now as a safe solution to not live the moment of the then now.
Who am I to believe I do not 'deserve' the good, or bad things that happen on my path? "No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." - Nelson Mandela
If we are unable to conceive of the totality of the universe (it is a presumtion that there is one in the sense he means), then how can we possibly know there is one, and how can anyone including Tolle (not his real name) presume to know of it? the thoughts and sentiments are great....but baseless unfortunately. I don't for a moment deny that thinking that way is anything but good..but in the asumtion that there is a greater plan/ power etc..no evidence. Otherwise uplifting. Be Nowhere. not new!
I'm probably missing something here but, what if your 'now' moment is something is wretched, horrific, etc which has been caused by another person/persons? Something entirely not of your making. Is he saying you are merely to embrace the 'nowness' of it (whatever that means). Or like the lone previous poster fight back and make their 'now' just as bloody awful as they made yours?
@carriemaizey I hope you don't take this as an advertisement but before you want to grasp Eckhart's teaching (or any philosophy for that matter) you have to read his work. Then you realize is not about grasping a concept, it's about living it.
There is so much more knowledge in a philosophy that a few words in a video or a few articles about it can explain. Try reading the book. IF you don't get it, you don't get it.
@xtian615 I remember many years ago having a cancer scare. I was in a beautiful spot near my house and had what the late writer Dennis Potter described as his 'wonder of now' experience throughout his last months. It was fleeting for me but incredible. If Tolle is feeling this every day all day I envy him.
However, my 'now' now, so to speak has been muddied by a series of terrible events and don't feel ready to let loose my anger and control over the situation. But I will some day.
to all who want to embrace the universe dedicate 1 hour per day every day with out break and we will become like yeshwa :jesus. we all have an ability to heal with both negative and positive are bodies can adapt to such a level of adaptation we can learn to use energy to heal ourselfs and one another
One way to look at it is that we live in a world of free will choices. So, by definition, it must be allowed to include bad choices. If someone decides to kill someone else, there is really nothing that can prevent the person from wanting to do that except the person himself. Of course there are ways to defend against it, but it's never full proof. So, the real question in my mind is why has free will been granted if it allows suffering. Yes, I know that's a mental question.
If we can't fight the madness without being drawn into it, should we not be disgusted with it? Should we accept it and only mention it when someone asks? How do we speed up the healing process without consistently reminding others of how awry everything is?
"Why do senseless events happen?" Take a personal tragety for example. The answer (or realisation) that every event in the universe is somehow cause-and-effect-wise connected is not a satisfactory answer, the way I see it. I would rather say that the wrong questions is being asked. Should one not rather ask "Now that so and so has happened, how am I going to deal with it?" Then one can find answers and do something about it..
The Events That Have happened in the world over many many years. . . . Imagine you can create a giant puzzle of the world to represent the suffering in the world, and each piece of the puzzle is one image to repressent an event of suffering. put all the single pieces together to make the 3d puzzle. The 3d puzzle of the world would be full of suffering all around it. Yet all you have to do is create events that fullfill the true expressions of compassion. You would eventually replace the puzzle
I had a rough phase last year and I still feel the pangs of separation from the woman I thought I'd grow old together with. But understanding through awareness and attention to the truth of the moment, creates a peace that transcends the painfully transitory character of so-called love. I admire Eckhart for pushing forth his message, in the end you have to become aware completely by yourself. I found out how erroneous society's idea of love is and how true reality is...and I'm an atheist.
@xtrmsprts I'm glad you are able to see value in his teachings. His teachings have practical value. The benefits of meditation for example, are backed up by science. :)
I really wish I was better at applying his teachings to my life. I hear them, I believe them, but when it comes to day to day life, I just can't seem to do it. I wish I could listen to him all day, so I could stay motivated....lol.
@walrusgh I think all of us feel that way from time to time,bt my God, we hv the word,I tlk to Jesus when im alone or before i go to bed the Holy Spirit speaks to my spirit and i get the answers i seek ,bt i pray expecting an answer,Call on the Holy Spirit an listen you will get the knowledge you seek.
@walrusgh I highly encourage you not to worry at all about your spiritual transformation. The fact that you see the truth in everything he says and that you constantly come back for spiritual realization is so wonderful in itself. Day by day, with the practice of the power of the now, you become more conscious and aware of all that surrounds you and you slowly feel an increase in the affection you feel for everything and everybody you encounter. Just don't make enlightenment into a future goal.
@walrusgh Every moment is a battle, a choice, and an opportunity. Even saying "I wish I was better" is neglecting those teachings. If you truly realize that the moments you regret not acting on these teachings is a choice you made, then from any moment you can start making the choices you want
@walrusgh hi:), regarding ur comment, its ok with that, you dont have to try, it will come when is necesery..I also forgot about ET teaching for a while, and just leaving day by day, until a friend of mine got sick with bones cancer..and then I woke up, I did, read, tried everything again.. I have 4 month I dont eat animal protein, and everyday, thinking of her, i try to do something for me, and for listening better my soul.
if you want that event to wake u up to come..it will come!
@bungerman1000 - It cannot be other than it is in the moment that it happens....but you always have freewill and are always able to use it in a creative fashion. Or you might choose not to use it at all...but even that is your use of free will. If a tree falls on your car because of a heavy wind, and your car gets damaged, then that cannot be otherwise when it occurs, but you still have free will to choose how to react to that situation when it happens. Anger? Despair? Acceptance?
@bungerman1000 Everything is as it is a result of free will choices. Cause and effect are the laws of the universe. You certainly have free will, and the choices you make today will determine your future. However, if you become present then you won't be a helpless victim of your karma. I think that's the way to look at it.
Yoga woke my energy body - Krishnamurti started to shake my mind - Ouspensky helped me have an profound awakening - 40 years of TM have helped with silence. But I have became very stale. This man is a gem he can EXPLAIN.....Yes! you cannot fight your fate - mental things just have to dissolve. - many thanks to you Eckhart.
Ohhhh he is Jesus resurrected. So cute. He can make wine to water and make babies out of him. Love this little jesus man. He save the world from all probems. One book 24,00USD two books only 39,95USD. A great bargain. Also get the tshirt and the DVD. He will make all problems disappear for you, if you buy more than 250USD
We r all interconnected. Like it or not. We are all one. One is all. Life in its many countless expressions. Moving from one form to another. Energy moving in various forms and states.
YOU ALL WANT TO KNOW THE SECRET, THE PURPOSE OF LIFE, THE POINT OF LIFE?... HERE IT IS: "BE THE BEST PERSON YOU CAN BE AND HAVE FUN!" SHHHHHHHH , IT'S A SECRET
So he's saying that starving children in the world are hungry bcuz that's a piece of the whole pictur of the universe. So we should let it be and accept it. I would hate to live in a world if everyone was like him. Nothing would get accomplished and we'd be living in a fantasy explaining everything away that happens. Such bs!
@localphonicss when did he say that we should "let it happen"?? in his books he always encourages us to help others..Buddha taught that suffering leads to enlightenment ( which is paradoxically no suffering)...hes showing how suffering can be a help not a hindrance to your awakening..eckhart says to "accept every moment now because it could not be any other way" which is true....this is not the same as "letting something happen"
@localphonicss I'm sorry but people who see things black and white like you are just so frustrating....
When did he ever say "If you see something bad, do nothing about it"??? He didn't. You put those words in his mouth
He JUST talked about how the vietnam war caused an awakening. Bad actions can cause positive reactions. He is just speaking of the connectedness of the universe, which even science agrees on. Everything happens because something preceded and that caused that event. Period.
What a crock of shit! This guy provides no answers to any problems. He just merely explains things away. If everything is but a fragment of a picture why does he not enact change. His view on the world seems to be that things are predestined. There are no absolute morals or truths. Does anyone else see a problem with his techings?
this is a fundemental misunderstanding of physics. he's either a) misguided or b) deliberately deceiving people. this guy shouldn't be allowed to spout this rubbish. someone should take him off the microphone and enrol him on a course in physics with Dr Leon Lederman or Dr. Victor Stenger.
@samraajni no. it was frustrating as it's not true. and i don't like people willingly lying. quantum physics does NOT support his theory. it may make people feel better, but it's not true. in fact it's morally backrupt. is he trying to tell us that people who've died in tragedies (haiti earthquakes, famine in africa, floods in brisbane etc etc.) are part of a big picture that we're unable to see. that's simply incorrect and offensive.
@knightm27 I understand your frustration, I do. I have seen it with my own 2 eyes, the devastation. But who/what made quantum psychics???? What is your answer to this question the video points to??
@samraajni no-one 'makes' quantum physics! that would infer some sort of creator - for which there is no evidence. based on the way the earth was constructed 4.6 bill years ago and it's orbit and distance from the sun (amoung many factors) there are certain scientific constants that don't need to be 'made'. it's a human psychological trait to consider everything to be 'made' - it's what led us to create god. tolle is regurgitating and misrepresenting quantum non-locality to sell books.
@knightm27 Tolle has studied astronomy on par with Sagan, and I'm sure Carl wouldn't want you throwing his words around like that for your own (apparent?) satisfaction. It's very silly of you to sit on your 'critical faculties and intellect,' state the man has issues, and then put your own spin on his words. He could perhaps pick his words more carefully for all the linguistic assassins out there :) , however it doesn't mean he is wrong. Your values are admirable, but ultimately
@OctoberLifeImages tolle has qualificayions in astrophysics on par with the legendary carl sagan? really? he has no qualifications in anything according to his rather vague bio...."linguistic assassins"? no. not really. but if he (or anyone else) is stating something as a truth (either in science or philosophy) he should know to choose his words wisely. it shouldn't be a matter of interpretation.
@knightm27@knightm27 I completely ignored my comments for a while (havent been on the net), but I'd like to apologize. I shouldn't have been an ass. I have enourmous respect for Carl Sagan and I look up to the man. I do want to clarify...I did not mean that Tolle has accomplishments even remotely approaching what Carl has given to humanity, only that he did study astronomy in a formal setting and that the man is not completely worthless. Have a look at the wiki page on him if you like.
@samraajni we live in a vast universe in which will live on a pale blue dot tucked away in the corner in a suburb. the universe neither knows nor cares about us. we're simply a higher primate. the cousin of chimps and bonobos. not here as part of some grand design. to think otherwise is delusional. sometimes bad things JUST HAPPEN. the trick is to face that, acknowledge it, and deal with it as a rational adult - not run and hide behind self-delusion.
@therobbiethorpe i think we'll have to agree to disagree. my view is that ET is a corporate backed charlatan exploiting the vunerable. his methods lead people to mental illness and depersonalisation disorders. it's mass hypnosis. a corporate backed cult. cognitive suicide. and many cult education forums are already ringing alarm bells about ET. (try typing in 'rick ross forum' into google - rick ross is an expert regarding destructive cults, controversial groups and movements).best wishes
@therobbiethorpe firstly, disagreeing with you doesn't make me paranoid :). secondly, "It's just a little book full of helpful advice you can take or leave ". it's more than that. it's causing pychological problems for many people. it's flashing up on cult awareness forums and therapists waiting rooms are beginning to fill up with recovering 'nowists'. would recommend some research. call me old fashioned, but when someone says they have 'the truth' based on no evidence alarm bells ring! :)
@therobbiethorpe "suggests a resentment and fear that feels disproportionate to the subject". i guess if you interpreted his work as positive and you're happy to 'let it be', that's fine. but, for me, having seen first hand the ill effects ETs work can cause it's clear to me that, like organised religion, ET fundamentally opposed to everything I hold in veneration--courage, clear thinking, honesty, fairness, and, above all, love of the truth. ET is a man who says "thinking is a disease"! :)
@therobbiethorpe nope, not at all. i was quoting from power of now :) do you want me to quote some more?? i've read that and a new earth. both are baloney of the highest calibre to anyone with any critical faculties and intellect. yes thanks, i understand tolle. no, i don't agree with what he has to say. it's that simple. if interpret what he says to suit you - that's fine. i'll wave at that bandwagon as it pulls away thanks! :)
@therobbiethorpe the stuff on my profile is a quote from Charlie Brooker which made me laugh! :) it's not a question of feeling 'superior' or 'being drawn into' this' - after all the first comment was yours in all this - thanks for the projection tho! :). it's more that i care passionately about what's true. and i hate seeing people deceived. and ET deceives people. i could never be a wishy-washy relativist. i read his books to understand how people are duped by it. good luck and best wishes :)
@therobbiethorpe it's not a 'ready made filter' you peanut! :) it's called 'critical thinking skills' or a 'baloney detection kit' as carl sagan puts it. working out what's true and what's not. you're free to accept mindlessly what tolle says. that is your choice. but what makes you feel good and what's true aren't mutually inclusive. we need the ego. we evolved that way. you can try and lose yours if you want - i'll book you a place in therapy about 5 years down the road ;) all the best :) byee
@therobbiethorpe btw, in case, like me, you have this misfortune of owning PON, turn to p14. tolle calls thinking a “dreadful affliction” that “casts a shadow of fear and suffering.” then “Thinking has become a disease.” “Just as dogs love to chew bones, the mind loves to get its teeth into problems.” No kidding. Ever heard of the Enlightenment? Scientific method? the man has issues. then (p16) "you do not use the mind, it uses you". really? demonic possession now is it?! genius! :)
I can say just looking at the title why and I already know it's going to be more true than what Tolle has to say. Here it is, people. Ready?
The universe is one big senseless event.
It's not our limited understanding of a "law of the universe"... there is no such law. The understanding think we have is an illusion, a dead end. Our intuitions are wrong. If you want to know WHY?!?! we have think there should be an answer to "why", please refer to evolutionary psychology.

@BraunerBomberBatzen i think arguing is pointless but conversation is helpful. I was only giving you my perspective, whether or not you believe in it or not is irrelevant, there is never a need to argue. :) peace and love.
HEY, MR TRASH MOUTH, you call yourself a Christian? What a joke!! You are an embarrassment to the Christian community. It's quite apparent that you are a very disturbed man who needs to be put in a straight jacket and locked up....ARE YOU SURE YOUR NOT SATAN INCARNATE???? YOU NEED TO GET OFF THIS SITE AND GO FIND SERIOUS PSYCHOLOGICAL HELP!! You have some major anger issues and why you decided to pick this site to project how sick you are is beyond me.
To all of you people who follow this "teacher": You know he's a manic depressive drug addict who has tried to commit suicide 3 times, right? I'm not the smartest person in the world but that doesn't sound like someone I'd take any kid of advice from. Especially considering he even admits he doesn't know what's going to happen to us when we die. So the chapter ends and you all fend for yourselves? He can only help you RIGHT NOW but that's it. Sounds like a retarded idea to base your life around
@bobbyewing311 Umm... Read the Power of Now to learn about his story, and "spiritual transformation".
If he is/was doing drugs, and attempting suicide post-transformation, then I think your argument would have some validity. But as it is, you just sound a bit daft.
@lgarvey First of all I would never contriubte to a cult like this. I would never poison my mind with this garbage. I believe in Jesus Christ, I believe that he died for my sins and rose again. I also believe that this man is nothing more than a false prophet who is out for personal gain and his own power. His "following" are nothing more than mindless fucks who can't handle the truth about life. ITS HARD. You should never try to Supress your emotions or your sadness, it's part of life.
@bobbyewing311 I don't know about the alleged drug use or when it may have occured, but I will say I huge dly repect the advise of anyone who will admitt he does not know what happens when we die- it's arrogant and ignorant of anyone to think they do
@bobbyewing311 I don't know about the alleged drug use or when it may have occured, but I will say I huge dly respect the advise of anyone who will admitt he does not know what happens when we die- it's arrogant and ignorant of anyone to think they do know
I think if we were all enlightened, there wouldn't be much suffering in the first place. most suffering is our own inflicted like hunger, poverty or pollution by over populating the planet. simple awareness can cure most problems.
I like that he says human history is madness with brief periods of sanity. I wonder if we are all actually moving toward a better and higher existence, or technology is just masking the same old thing.
Truth seekers can always recognize it when they are ready. There are obviously different "vibrations" of truth. Fox news is very low vibration truth. Church for "some" i a bit higher but where Tolle comes from is a much higher vibration of thought. Many argue that not thinking is a form of laziness, stupidity or ignorance. Those who have experienced true inspiration know that this happens between thoughts, not during thoughts. you must empty your cup to allow for something better.
Long way to say that senseless things are senseless! Everything makes sense to a person doing something at a particular time, it doesn't make sense because you're not them! If they were doing something truly senseless it would be obviously sarcastic.
Eckhart Tolle reassures me that the attempt to reason life is self-defeating; I must instead live from a deep source within and I will no longer need to paddle my canoe against the river -- my words, not his, but it is what I took away from this recording.
the spiritual awakening cannot be separated from the seeing the madness of what happens, so the seemingly negative has led to awakening to the madness, and then what it does is has awakened us to deeply knowing this MADNESS
@TadRapidly - It's every individuals consciousness that combines to allow these things to happen. If everyone looked to themselves and took responsibility then no one could take advantage of them. We are essentially allowing them to take advantage of us and if we would all work towards being in the now or beingness then they couldn't do what they do. Those actions can only function in an unconscious world.
At the same time, the affects push us towards consciousness. So it all works out.
When Mcnamara said Vietnam was "a mistake" he meant that the instigating event was a false-flag operation. 9-11 was also a false-flag event. Pearl Harbor was instigated by the U.S. through sanctions on Japan. All of these events are engineered and carried out by the same banking families in collusion with governments.
@dkbeach yes, and my point is that much of our "self-imposed" suffering hasn't been self-imposed at all; we've been "tricked" into it. we have been tricked into killing each other by oligarchs! Not all of it, of course, but so very much of it.
LOL It has a function?????? What an idiotic thing to say. So if someone killed a friend of Eckhart here he'd shrug and say "Oh well, it has a function in the bigger picture"? I don't think so. This guy is insane. INSANE.
@rlzzxx Looking back, I could have said what I wanted to say a bit differently. But when someone goes and says things like Eckhart here...one has to be very careful what one says. I mean seeing the death of a child as something which has a reason in the context of the universe? It's as if he's saying "Don't feel bad about it." and that can rub people the wrong way.
Watch that boomerang ... things do come back around. But Karma doesn't always explain why "bad" things happen to "good" people. We embody into situations we need to learn from. For example, a person might suffer abuse from the same soul for successive lifetimes (reincarnation) until that "victim" finally learns to forgive the "oppressor," thus releasing the karmic tie to that person. Forgiveness comes through understanding. "Love one another, as I have loved you." ~ Jesus Christ
@rlzzxx For one thing, Jesus started a love revolution that rippled across the ages, reminding us to be our brother's keeper. That materialized in a big way when the Not-Sees hatched their WWII plan to rule the world and exterminate anyone "different." America, being a "love thy neighbor" nation, rushed in to disarm the Not-Sees, following the example of that rebel human rights activist, Jesus Christ. The U.S. prevented a fatal arms race between USSR and Germany by being "thy brother's keeper."
@eastariel I'm not sure why we're talking politics, but, since we are,if you think the U.S is a "love thy neighbor" nation, then you have alot to learn about this country's history in it's own land, and abroad the entire world.
My comment about Jesus was a response to someone's question to me about what Jesus has ever done for him.
I don't separate and compartmentalize religion, spirituality, politics, and etc. They are in my mind branches of the same soul foundation running like a river through each of us.
Yes, America isn't perfect, and is rather fugly at times; but still, I'm proud of my nation and hope it improves. And I think Americans in general tend to be charitable, ethical, imperfect people.
@eastariel Well, not to be offensive, but i "think" you're being a bit naive as to the United States true motive of getting involved in ALL wars. In a nutshell,in the simplest way i could explain it to you,or a child,it's as simple as this: WAR IS A RACKET. It has NOTHING to do with being your "brothers keeper" in the context that Jesus spoke of. This is a fact.
IMHO i think "politics" has nothing to do with "soul foundation".
Bad things happen because they need to happen and the majority of bad things on earth happen because it reflects the state of affairs we are in. When the individual isn't balanced, the family isnt balanced, then the city isn't balanced, country isn't balanced and world isn't balanced. People need to control the mind trhough meditation and spiritualization. Else this individual pain will seep into the global conciousness. The uproar in the world is a reflection of our own state of mind.

o.k. we can not understand through the human mind what function an event has in the whole, and vietnam was a neccessity for an awakening... function for an awakening??
o.k. as well, a moment is like this, because it cannot be otherwise, determinend by laws, and laws themselves are blind to subjectivity of the individual, nice prospects.
I was recently introduced to Tolle and I have to say it seems fairly simple to convince your listeners and readers that you're brilliant when you tell them that wisdom comes from no thought. Why do senseless acts happen? Because the world is unfair, shit happens and people are corrupt and sick from either mind or society. It's simple.
For eckhart is an agent of satan - everything he states contradicts the bible - JESUS often said be ye not decieved - i see that this man has and is decieving millions - Study world - study. The devil plays on ignorance - and people's want 4 something new - Do you know how the devil tricked the world that he didn't exist - he became a christian - perverted the law - and now he writes books on conciousness and the power of yes
this is a beautiful lie. we can't keep saying that bad things happen to awaken us, to give us lessons. they happen because of human greed, ignorance and passivity, as well as by chance. unspeakable horrors go on all around us. we live in denial. that's how we are able to survive as a species. i agree with most of what tolle says, but not that things are meant to be. they just are. i just can't buy that everything happens for a reason. things simply happen. the awakening? it's fairy dust.
TheseEyesGod I agree....:) and I love Eckhart just the way he is.... His way to teach is very clear and I don't know why there are some people who get so upset with his teachings. What is wrong with what he says?
The bible was written several hundred years after jesus and rewritten quite a few times by men for their own purposes and for power. To this day people can look at one quote from the bible and see it in the way they want to. One doesn't need a particuliar religion to find god. Eckhart speaks a wonderful truth that resonates with me and have read two of his books. Very enligtening. Thanks for sharing.
Religion is man's search for God. Christianity is God's "search" for man. May Jesus Christ bless all of you! "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
I encourage you guys to look into the real Truth, that is the Word of God, found only in the Bible
@calebkoch Wow, so you don't have to do any self improvement whatsoever to go to heaven while everyone else suffers eternally? All you have to do is inflame yourself for 10 minutes in church and scream "thank you jesus! thank you for saving me!" and then yell at the person who cut you off on the road after leaving church...? you expect to win heaven without becoming heaven? You honestly think that by thanking a concept in your head that you will be transported to eternal realms of bliss? Wow...
@SupraPenis It's not about an emotion, and it's not about church--it's not about religion either. It's all about having a personal relationship with the Creator, rather than some knowledge of the abstract. In Christianity, self improvement is to be done out of gratitude for the forgiveness given by Jesus Christ, rather than to attain "eternal realms of bliss." According to the Bible, this cannot be attained by us, but is the free gift of God because of his unconditional love for us.
@calebkoch I do respect your calm reply first of all. Thank you. Believe as you will friend, but you cannot explain "how" your man-god fixed the world by dying on a tree. I have studied the "allegories" of many man-gods and for me it truly is an allegory and way to redeem yourself, but it has nothing to do with a literal event with magic powers. DId he not say "take up your cross and follow me"? I don't think this means scream "praise the lord!" and continue being an asshole to your neighbours..
@SupraPenis I appreciate your calm reply as well. Of course he doesn't want us to be jerks to our neighbors-- Jesus commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves. Christians, however, are still human and therefore still make mistakes. When we do make mistakes we alway have forgiveness waiting for us because God just loves us that much.
@SupraPenis Also, be aware that the Bible says you will know people by their fruit, meaning if you see someone who claims to be Christian that keeps on sinning, maybe their not so truthful about their faith afterall. Not a sermon, just a thought.

When we stop asking why, we stop suffering... we've either accepted and let go or understood and let go,
11thhourreprieve 2 months ago
@11thhourreprieve Those who reject their own suffering don't go within and find peace, they go without and project anger for their own suffering. This in itself has purpose, their anger at their own suffering causes others to suffer, and it's the others who go within and then find peace... either way peace is found at least for some.

Or like the lone previous poster fight back and make their 'now' just as bloody awful as they made yours?
carriemaizey 7 months ago

But I will some day.
carriemaizey 7 months ago
to all who want to embrace the universe dedicate 1 hour per day every day with out break and we will become like yeshwa :jesus. we all have an ability to heal with both negative and positive are bodies can adapt to such a level of adaptation we can learn to use energy to heal ourselfs and one another
frax911 8 months ago
One way to look at it is that we live in a world of free will choices. So, by definition, it must be allowed to include bad choices. If someone decides to kill someone else, there is really nothing that can prevent the person from wanting to do that except the person himself. Of course there are ways to defend against it, but it's never full proof. So, the real question in my mind is why has free will been granted if it allows suffering. Yes, I know that's a mental question.

If we can't fight the madness without being drawn into it, should we not be disgusted with it? Should we accept it and only mention it when someone asks? How do we speed up the healing process without consistently reminding others of how awry everything is?
amazinero 8 months ago

If you truly realize that the moments you regret not acting on these teachings is a choice you made, then from any moment you can start making the choices you want

if everything is as it is and it cannot be otherwise, how do I chose anything? The choice is not mine. No freewill, only fate.
bungerman1000 9 months ago
@bungerman1000 - It cannot be other than it is in the moment that it happens....but you always have freewill and are always able to use it in a creative fashion. Or you might choose not to use it at all...but even that is your use of free will. If a tree falls on your car because of a heavy wind, and your car gets damaged, then that cannot be otherwise when it occurs, but you still have free will to choose how to react to that situation when it happens. Anger? Despair? Acceptance?
Morgteck 9 months ago
@bungerman1000 Everything is as it is a result of free will choices. Cause and effect are the laws of the universe. You certainly have free will, and the choices you make today will determine your future. However, if you become present then you won't be a helpless victim of your karma. I think that's the way to look at it.

localphonicss 1 year ago
@localphonicss when did he say that we should "let it happen"?? in his books he always encourages us to help others..Buddha taught that suffering leads to enlightenment ( which is paradoxically no suffering)...hes showing how suffering can be a help not a hindrance to your awakening..eckhart says to "accept every moment now because it could not be any other way" which is true....this is not the same as "letting something happen"
kevo795 11 months ago
@localphonicss I'm sorry but people who see things black and white like you are just so frustrating....
When did he ever say "If you see something bad, do nothing about it"??? He didn't. You put those words in his mouth
He JUST talked about how the vietnam war caused an awakening. Bad actions can cause positive reactions. He is just speaking of the connectedness of the universe, which even science agrees on. Everything happens because something preceded and that caused that event. Period.

What a crock of shit! This guy provides no answers to any problems. He just merely explains things away. If everything is but a fragment of a picture why does he not enact change. localphonicss 1 year ago
this is a fundemental misunderstanding of physics. he's either a) misguided or b) deliberately deceiving people. this guy shouldn't be allowed to spout this rubbish. someone should take him off the microphone and enrol him on a course in physics with Dr Leon Lederman or Dr. Victor Stenger.
knightm27 1 year ago
@knightm27 you are trying to understand it with your mind (ie. your reference to physics) which is why it upset you and the whole point of his video.
samraajni 1 year ago
@samraajni no. it was frustrating as it's not true. and i don't like people willingly lying. quantum physics does NOT support his theory. it may make people feel better, but it's not true. in fact it's morally backrupt. is he trying to tell us that people who've died in tragedies (haiti earthquakes, famine in africa, floods in brisbane etc etc.) are part of a big picture that we're unable to see. that's simply incorrect and offensive.
knightm27 1 year ago
@knightm27 I understand your frustration, I do. I have seen it with my own 2 eyes, the devastation. But who/what made quantum psychics???? What is your answer to this question the video points to??
samraajni 1 year ago
@samraajni no-one 'makes' quantum physics! that would infer some sort of creator - for which there is no evidence. based on the way the earth was constructed 4.6 bill years ago and it's orbit and distance from the sun (amoung many factors) there are certain scientific constants that don't need to be 'made'. it's a human psychological trait to consider everything to be 'made' - it's what led us to create god. tolle is regurgitating and misrepresenting quantum non-locality to sell books.
knightm27 1 year ago
@knightm27 Tolle has studied astronomy on par with Sagan, and I'm sure Carl wouldn't want you throwing his words around like that for your own (apparent?) satisfaction. It's very silly of you to sit on your 'critical faculties and intellect,' state the man has issues, and then put your own spin on his words. He could perhaps pick his words more carefully for all the linguistic assassins out there :) , however it doesn't mean he is wrong. Your values are admirable, but ultimately
OctoberLifeImages 9 months ago
@OctoberLifeImages tolle has qualificayions in astrophysics on par with the legendary carl sagan? really? he has no qualifications in anything according to his rather vague bio...."linguistic assassins"? no. not really. but if he (or anyone else) is stating something as a truth (either in science or philosophy) he should know to choose his words wisely. it shouldn't be a matter of interpretation.
knightm27 9 months ago
@knightm27 @knightm27 I completely ignored my comments for a while (havent been on the net), but I'd like to apologize.

Sounds like a retarded idea to base your life around
bobbyewing311 1 year ago

Eckhart Tolle reassures me that the attempt to reason life is self-defeating; I must instead live from a deep source within and I will no longer need to paddle my canoe against the river -- my words, not his, but it is what I took away from this recording.

the spiritual awakening cannot be separated from the seeing the madness of what happens, so the seemingly negative has led to awakening to the madness, and then what it does is has awakened us to deeply knowing this MADNESS
catlyn777 1 year ago

@TadRapidly Yes. That'swhat Ekhart said, every 'even' has roots in a cause

Mystandrain 1 year ago
@Mystandrain
Be careful?! What else can you do?! LOL

What the fuck did the faggit jesus do for me you moron?
rlzzxx 1 year ago
@rlzzxx For one thing, Jesus started a love revolution that rippled across the ages, reminding us to be our brother's keeper. That materialized in a big way when the Not-Sees hatched their WWII plan to rule the world and exterminate anyone "different." America, being a "love thy neighbor" nation, rushed in to disarm the Not-Sees, following the example of that rebel human rights activist, Jesus Christ. The U.S. prevented a fatal arms race between USSR and Germany by being "thy brother's keeper."
eastariel 1 year ago
@eastariel I'm not sure why we're talking politics, but, since we are,if you think the U.S is a "love thy neighbor" nation, then you have alot to learn about this country's history in it's own land, and abroad the entire world.
TheChoice264 1 year ago
@TheChoice264
And I think Americans in general tend to be charitable, ethical, imperfect people.
eastariel 1 year ago
@eastariel Well, not to be offensive, but i "think" you're being a bit naive as to the United States true motive of getting involved in ALL wars. In a nutshell,in the simplest way i could explain it to you,or a child,it's as simple as this: WAR IS A RACKET. It has NOTHING to do with being your "brothers keeper" in the context that Jesus spoke of. This is a fact.
IMHO i think "politics" has nothing to do with "soul foundation".
Good people are good people. Americans included.
Peace.

MyIbiza2009 1 year ago
The bible was written several hundred years after jesus and rewritten quite a few times by men for their own purposes and for power. To this day people can look at one quote from the bible and see it in the way they want to. One doesn't need a particuliar religion to find god. Eckhart speaks a wonderful truth that resonates with me and have read two of his books. Very enligtening. Thanks for sharing.
sherlock17783 1 year ago 2
Religion is man's search for God. Christianity is God's "search" for man. May Jesus Christ bless all of you! "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
I encourage you guys to look into the real Truth, that is the Word of God, found only in the Bible
calebkoch 1 year ago
@calebkoch Wow, so you don't have to do any self improvement whatsoever to go to heaven while everyone else suffers eternally? All you have to do is inflame yourself for 10 minutes in church and scream "thank you jesus! thank you for saving me!" and then yell at the person who cut you off on the road after leaving church...? you expect to win heaven without becoming heaven? You honestly think that by thanking a concept in your head that you will be transported to eternal realms of bliss? Wow...
SupraPenis 1 year ago 2
@SupraPenis It's not about an emotion, and it's not about church--it's not about religion either. It's all about having a personal relationship with the Creator, rather than some knowledge of the abstract. In Christianity, self improvement is to be done out of gratitude for the forgiveness given by Jesus Christ, rather than to attain "eternal realms of bliss." According to the Bible, this cannot be attained by us, but is the free gift of God because of his unconditional love for us.
calebkoch 1 year ago
@calebkoch I do respect your calm reply first of all. Thank you. Believe as you will friend, but you cannot explain "how" your man-god fixed the world by dying on a tree. I have studied the "allegories" of many man-gods and for me it truly is an allegory and way to redeem yourself, but it has nothing to do with a literal event with magic powers. DId he not say "take up your cross and follow me"? I don't think this means scream "praise the lord!" and continue being an asshole to your neighbours..
SupraPenis 1 year ago
@SupraPenis I appreciate your calm reply as well. Of course he doesn't want us to be jerks to our neighbors-- Jesus commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves. Christians, however, are still human and therefore still make mistakes. When we do make mistakes we alway have forgiveness waiting for us because God just loves us that much.
calebkoch 1 year ago
@SupraPenis Also, be aware that the Bible says you will know people by their fruit, meaning if you see someone who claims to be Christian that keeps on sinning, maybe their not so truthful about their faith afterall. Not a sermon, just a thought.
