Edgar Meyer's not that great...there are better teachers and bassists around. He knows how to market himself or hires the right people to do it. I'm not a fan, but this bassist is good.
@drumdude141 the best and only greatest bass player I ever heard to ever play A song .....lots of feeling this is the only time I ever paid attention to the bass in a bluegrass song .......... I play mostly in a rock/blues band and when I listen to a bluegrass song their musianship always amaze me.........theres lots of freedom in it you can play any stlyle of music if you can make it fit ........... they are greatest of all musicians
Meet Paul Kowert. It's a good thing that you like him, because he is no sub. Greg hung up his hat almost a year ago (wanted to spend more time with his family, if I'm not mistaken). I'm sure he is missed, but they certainly found a good replacement.
Bluegrass on a contra bass...great !

@guido97520 I'm genuinely curious - who would you say is better? And have you heard "Uncommon Ritual"?

Kowert makes it look so easy.....he's so relaxed, and the playing is so relaxed.....the hallmarks of a true artist.

When I close my eyes, it's hard to tell that it's not Edgar

Ya I was talking to him after one of their shows, he says he was one of many who studied under Edgar Meyer in New York.

Kowert really does shine in this, I hear he studied under Edgar Meyer, which would explain his ridiculous talent.

Yep, he studied with Edgar at the Curtis Institue, which is arguably the most presitgious music school in the world.

Great stuff but why couldn't they get the sound synced to the video?
bassrome 2 years ago
The whole set is out of sync (audio lag), so if someone had the time & inclination, it wouldn't be that hard to sync up. :) Just sayin'.
