@italo36 Roddick choked because he let the moment get to him. The volley was simple he could of had a two set to love lead but I think he just did not believe he could beat Roger. I knew after Roddick lost that point he lost the match. Roddick competed well but the end result was inevitable.

truly that was probably the grand finally of all the rodick and federer matches. this is the showdown and was rodick's last chance. i dont think federer and rodick will ever meet in a final grandslam and have a suck even 5 setter as they did in this game. this probably was the last one and i feel bad for rodick i think he deserved to win the 2009

@dinkydodgem93 you do realize that England produces the best sport people out of the UK with a few exceptions so the fact Scotland has its very first good tennis player apparently makes us jealous William Renshaw has won Wimbledon 7 times and Fred Perry 3 times as well as many of the grand slams so really we have history in the sport Scotland doesn't and the way Murray plays typical of any late 20th and early 21st century Brit of any country they start winning then bottle it

@jda091 He did have one in 2009 when everybody said he was done back in 2005. He can come back, he plays well on grass. I don't think he can beat Federer but Nadal yes.

@hencar2, Yes, you are right, Andy lost the match at 03:11, on his fifth set point for a two set lead, an easy backhand volley which he initially wanted to let go out but changed his mind in the last instance!

I remember watching that crazy match and even feeling a little sorry for poor Andy...

the sad truth is though that fed didn't even play that well, certainly off the ground, his serve won him this match and roddick still couldn't win, it was an ok match, moreof a serving contest than anything else just good to get the 15 though and thats all that matters, people could just look at the scoreline and say it was an epic but in reality the quality of tennis was a thousand miles away from the last 2 finals, certainly wasn't the best match of the year. Good highlights anyhow :P

@nali82 i think in 09 it was the lighting, look at it, theres a huge shadow casting over roger and then theres that larger still lit area of the court where roddick is. 10 mightve been what you said but in 09 i think it was a mix of fatigue and lighting, the ball is moving like 90mph in and out of the shadows

I am a huge Federer fan but I was really sad for Roddick : Federer has beaten him in 3 grandslam semifinals and 4 grandslam finals !

And there Roddick was sooo close ! He probably lost the match on the missed volley in the 3rd set tie-break, perhaps only because of stress.

Great match though, happy for Federer, the best ever
