Nice! Is it easy to transition from wooden swords to metal ones? Do you make the weight even with thicker blades or can you attach weight or does it not matter? Thx.
P.S. Might be the coolest park I've ever seen. Lu-cky
Additionally, the lack of Ochs hurts defensively and limits Stechen (stabbing) from above. The Langort guard could allow the longsword user to disengage from the Katana at will. I could keep going but I will stop- I recommend Christian Tobler's Fighting with the German Longsword, ISBN 1-891448-24-2 as a text.
This video is not a good comparison of the weapons, (even good comparison are more about the swordsmen's skill than the swords themselves). The bastard sword (aka Longsword or Hand-and-a-half) wielder did not use the the vom Tag, Ochs or Langort guards (amongst others). This has the undesirable side effect of limiting them to mostly Unterhau's (strikes from below), while Oberhau's are usually superior in reach.
Bastard swords user, remember to use a passing step when you cut, and use the master cuts more. From vom tag you could launch a nice shielhau against the katana users stance. I don't know much about one handed sword fighting but you seemed to do much better and feel more comfortable when fighting like that.

Duel wield the bastard sword?
Then you're a much better swords man than me - after 2 mins, the weight of the weapons may become an issue :-)

I'm more experienced with a sabre... I think that's why one handed is more natural.
But it's hard work with the heavier weight of a hand-and-a-half bastard sword :-)

I can understand that. How much does your waster weigh?

the bastard sword, in my opinion, is better
