@DieHardLiveRight heyy. i was in this video, and i'll let you know that my parents put me down when i came out about being bi. in those moments, you truly need to look inside yourself and try to love yourself for who you are, no matter what anyone else says. at the end of the day, if you love yourself, eventually the people around you are going to reflect back that love. there are so many people out there who will love and accept your sexuality with open arms. be proud of who you are, and own it
@DieHardLiveRight stick to what you feel, you know who you are and although it is tough, there will be tons of people in the world who will support you and love you for who you are. keep your head up :)
no one really understands that everyone is born differnet we are not made from the same person we do not come out of a machine looking and acting excatly the same, everyone is there own person and the ppl who embrace it are the brave ones they are the ones who are really special and just becuz they have the courage to be different to stand out in a crowd dosnt mean they should be rediculed for it and anyone who is gay or a lesbian and is open with it they are the braviest and should be respected
So you say you want unified tolerance? Then why does this message need to be solely directed towards a single group? Where were the fat people saying it gets better? Where were the mixed racial teens saying it gets better? Where were the nerds saying it gets better? Where were the jocks saying it gets better? Guess what; GLBT teens aren't the only ones being bullied, and you accepting special attention nationwide actually makes you look weak.
@faboohaahh Well, as a mixed race nerd I don't think this video's against unified tolerance at all. Come on, you can't say an entire community looks weak because some of us have been acting against homophobia specifically. It's like saying "martin luther king didn't say much about equality for the disabled so he's making the black community look pretty weak". So just appreciate this video for what it does. Some GLBT teens really need videos like this
I support the Make it Better project. I don’t want it to be better next year, the next decade... I want us to make it better now... each and every day. Could you imagine a campaign when our nation had slavery that just kept saying "it gets better" someday somehow you'll be free to be treated as a free equal citizen... Nah... Lets support a make it better lifestyle every day. Telling someone to endure, and hang on is cruel. Make it better now.
@allsmileseatlle You're missing the point: IGBP is an effort to let gay or gender-variant teens know that things get better so they don't kill themselves. It is a limited-intent project, and was conceived in an effort to stop suicides, not bullying. That said, Dan and a lot of others involved in the project WOULD like to stop bullying, and strongly encourage and participate in other efforts with that aim, including Make It Better. I agree that anyone posing IGBP as The Solution is an idiot.
Great video! I too am also listed under the It Gets Better project and I believe I am the 4th video down. Please do watch mine as well. I am really happy with how this video was composed. I am a transsexual woman and love the way you folks composed this video. My video is titled "It Gets Better- A Trans-Woman's Journey"
I've watched so many of the ITGB videos and loved them and celebrated the positive feelings behind them.
But, in the back of my mind, I kept wondering why is there no attention paid to any attempt to stop the bullying when and where it happens.
This video is the answer to my questions. Actual teenagers, who are not mostly gay, saying that they will take an active part in stopping the bullying. That is the biggest first step to take and I hope it spreads far and wide! Thanks so much!
Whoa! I saw this video post a couple of times and almost didn't play it. I'm glad I did after all because "I want it to GET BETTER." Thank you to all that participated, it was great hearing all your thoughts and concerns.
what do you do when its your parents putting you down? :(
