I thought the whole ceremony was pretty boring myself. I fell asleep. It was all lights and lots of people moving around. Not that entertaining and a hell of a lot of money wasted on fabulous costumes that were difficult to see in the sea of people.

I thought the whole ceremony was pretty boring myself. I fell asleep. It was all lights and lots of people moving around. Not that entertaining and a hell of a lot of money wasted on fabulous costumes that were difficult to see in the sea of people.

i completely disagree, you only felt that way because you are seeing it through a tv screen, which is able to focus on specifics and details. But if you are in the stadium, a SINGLE PERSON performing is kinda HARD to SEE. SO, group performance is the best idea. They did a great job. You felt asleep, loss for you

I am Mexican, haven't seen the ceremony yet (time difference and work issues), and just can't wait to see the re-run, I'm sure it was more than spectacular... I've been waiting for it since they announced China would be the olympic host somewhere in the future.
But olympic games in Greece will ALWAYS have that "back home" magical feeling nobody else can even try to imitate, doesn't matter if you just place a cardboard stage with crappy lights or nothing at all in a 5-minute ceremony.

Theoretical communism is having the choices and decisions made by the people, by having presidential candidates selected by the people. and just sharing everything with the whole country - everyone is equal. Democracy is about letting the people of the country speak their own minds, make their own choices - freedom. a country can be both.
