  • the godfather of magic, magic is the absence of movement

  • he had me by 1:15, that 'cup through the cup' effect is literally perfect.

  • Tyler Verner, yolur great grandfather is a GRAND MASTER!!

  • Damn....Dai Vernon is the master

  • ah 240p we meet again

  • Dai Vernon a True Grand Master. Real Egyptian Magic. He even fooled Houdini.

  • This guy Just Blew my Mind LIKE A BOSS@

  • Wow, mad skills

  • I wish I could have met this man.

  • The Legend Who Fooled Houdini

  • Even trying hard to watch the sleight I missed them all. This is very impressive!

  • This man is a genius!

  • My name is Tyler Verner, I am proud to say that this is my great grandfather.

  • @ttyylleerr102 you are so lucky, i hope your carrying on his legacy

  • @ttyylleerr102 You should be so proud of your great grandfather.

  • @ttyylleerr102 Congratulations

  • @ttyylleerr102 if you really are his great grandson, you should be very proud

  • @ttyylleerr102 stop lying no his not ...

  • @comala27 you just jealus that he had the most awesome magician as a relative? :P

  • @ttyylleerr102 Really? Can I talk to your father and ask him how was it to have Vernon as as a grandfather?

  • I use prestidigitation on my girlfriend..

  • @31lucian you must be the fastest handjob in the West...

  • This isn't magic...it's witchcraft!

    Seriously, this was ridiculous.

  • the best there is, a true artist.....

  • Dai Vernon was wonderful. I'm so glad that these films still exist. There is everything to learn from this. Thanks.

  • That's what i call real magic :)

  • @MrMoRahman no

  • @MrMoRahman as you said. If you get a beginners magic book youl be able to do criss angels sleights.

  • Did he forget his patter? He was stumbling there for a moment.

  • oh Dai, thank you for your wise teachings over your years. :(

  • @MrMoRahman You have got to be joking. I'm sure that you are. I hope you are. If not you have no idea how bad Chris Angel really is as a magician. His t.v. shows use more camera tricks than the T.V. show Bewitched ever did. That is a fact. He claims that none are used. But if you know anything at all about magic you know that is not true.

  • Anyone who honestly says they do not appreciate Vernon... please for the sake of gaining exeprience and knowledge (and to learn how to perform magic) pick up a copy of the inner secrets by Lewis Danson and The (original) stars of magic... Vernon was called the Professor for a bloody good reason...

  • whats the word??

  • I think you didnt payed atention my friends, he said 72 years of magic.

  • @MrMoRahman it is really sad that people think like you..criss angel is a good entertainer (though not the best) but his sleight of hand is just lame

  • @alonjunior1995 His slight of hand is so good that nobody can figure it out, His magic takes place when you don't realise, when he 'fumbles' with the cards, it is a red herring.

  • @MrMoRahman

do you know what sleight of hand means?

have you ever seen him doing a sleight of hand trick?

i bought his ultimate kit (which sucks) and when i saw him perform the tricks...well, i felt like i am watching my self at the mirror when i was a beginner at magic

  • @alonjunior1995 Of course I didn't see his slieght of hand, it's invisible! Thats the point! Criss is so good you cant see it!!!!

  • @MrMoRahman

as a professional magician I will tell you a few secrets about magic.

first, maybe you cant see criss' sleight of hand, but trust me, I can, and in all of sleight of hand magic I know exactly what he is doing.

I think you should buy his kit so you can see his sleight of hand and then watch a real sleight of hand professional, lennart green for example..

  • @alonjunior1995 So if you're a professional magician I guess you have a website then?

  • @alonjunior1995

if you are a professional magician, my cocks a kipper.

  • 4 people are both wrong AND cold inside.

  • @fizaanTech No, not at all, I think Criss Angel has contributed more to magic and I think he's just generally better.

  • @fizaanTech

well surely it is about what the audience sees. so be it if there is little in the way of technical sophistication and loads of presentation.

you sleight monkeys want to have loads of knuckle busting mayhem with no presentation then fair enough, but i know which one the audience would prefer to see.

  • @MrMoRahman there is no conceivable way that Chriss Angel has contributed anywhere near this to magic, its a fact. There is a reason that Dai Vernon is considered a legend, he wrote the book on 90% of what you see today. Along with Elsmley, Marlo, Kapps, Braue, Downs, Erdnase etc... i thoroughly recommend you research exactly how much Vernon has contributed, im certain your magic and general outlook on the subject will change and hopefully you will realise that there is so much more out there!

  • @xXNOESC4P3Xx Yeah, but Criss Angel studied under David Blaine, who is, I'm sure you'll agree, the greatest magician ever. We can atleast agree on that.

  • @MrMoRahman ROFL WTF UR TALKING ABOUT !!!! GET UR FACTS RIGHT !!! CRISS DIDNT STUDY UNDER DAVID BLAINE ! AND HE DOESNT EVEN DO ANY SLEIGHT OF HAND IN HIS SHOWS ! ITS CAMERA EDITING AND ACTORS !!! THEREFORE, CRISS ANGLE IS NOT EVEN A MAGICIAN ! LOL UR LIKE A WANNABEE LAYMAN WHO THINK HE KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT MAGIC.....FUNNY

  • @Sano22n Look, idiot. Please press your CAPS LOCK key when you post.

  • @Sano22n I know more about magic than you faggot, Criss angel invented such great moves like the invisible pass and the double lift. Fuck you. Magic need these moves, so magic needs criss angel.

  • @MrMoRahman LOL UR JOKING RITE ? UR SAYING THAT CRISS ANGLE INVENTED THE DL AND THE PASS ????? WHATSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!! UR GOTTA B FUCK UP MY BOY !!! STOP SMOKING WEED GODAMMIT !!!

  • @MrMoRahman you're dumb dude

  • @MrMoRahman Sir, Dai Vernon, the guy in the video, performed a trick which fooled Houdini, who died many years ago mind you, using the Double lift you were talking about. He performed it before Criss Angel was born, literally and is probably the first guy to even use a double lift. Please get your facts correct before you even make such a claim. Criss Angel is also NOT the best magician. Nowhere close. His tricks on t.v are all camera tricks and his audiences are hired actors.

  • @MrMoRahman Andyfieldmagic does better magic then that doucebag. You don`t even know who Dai Vernon is do you

  • @erdnaseful That sounds a bit like jealousy. Jealous of his incomparable skill.

  • @MrMoRahman Criss Angel is a big fat fake, who couldn't hold a candle to Vernon. Ever seen Criss Angel do slight of hand? He is sloppy. Also keep in mind that Vernon invented this routine, and it's the one most magicians use. Criss is also an illusionist, BEFORE a slight of hand artist. You're comparing apples to oranges. But even as an Illusionist, Criss is not the best. Try watching Hans Klok, and see what you think of Criss.

  • @yeshevishman Chris Angel is possibly one of the best slight of hand artists of all time. Dont get me wrong, Dai Vernon is good, but he's no Chris Angel, who is in fact, leagues ahead. If Vernon was alive, he'd probably agree.

  • @MrMoRahman I'm sorry, but Criss Angel is in no way the best slight of hand artist. Maybe you just don't know when he's doing real slights, or maybe you just don't know what slight of hand is. I assume if you are that much of a Criss Angel fan, you must not be an experienced magician, if you are one all. If you are not, I suggest learning magic, and in the process, learn what slight of hand means.

  • @yeshevishman I guess you must be an expert then. The problem is is that any dickehead who picks up a magic book or buys some shat from Ellusionist can call themselves a magician, so I say that I'm about as much a magician as you are.

  • @MrMoRahman of course u are an asshole ... this is the professor .... angel is the proofasshole

  • @MrAceFab @MrAceFab That didn't make any sense. Take the cock out of your mouth before you reply please.

  • @MegaMagicExpert hey asshole .... what is your problem ? .... maybe i know ... u cant grab a deck of cards ... u are the mega magic expert asshole maybe and of course a fan of C.Angel ....that says all and belive me ... if i give a deck to my dog ....is better than you on abitious card and on the pass maybe he can give u a 3 /4 tips on the pass ... and please leave my cock alone cos it was in a good company till yesterday with your mom and do not talk about magic

  • @MrAceFab What a load of incoherent shite.

  • @MrAceFab Have you even watched my videos, you could learn something you shitbag.

  • @MegaMagicExpert yesss thats' wy i comment .... with your hands u can grab a shovel no a deck ...btw ... i will share your videos and i will c the comments asshole so that all the magicians i know will be able to comment your shit

  • @MegaMagicExpert ahhh btw ... that one is not a swe shift .... but something further ... so your comment shows the dumb ass u are btw i'll share your videos ... prepare to erease the channel fucking moron

  • Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

  • nvm i got it. when he put the small ones away he had the big ones in his hand

  • @ViSioNGamingClan Nope not even close. Shows how fooling of a routine this actually is.

  • alright the little ones looked like they were coming from his sleeve but the big ones WHERE THE FUCK DID THEY COME FROM

  • so its true!! when you get old you play with your ball alot ;)

  • I'm not entirely sure if any from outside the UK has heard of a British illusionist, mentalist, painter, writer, and sceptic called Derren Brown. Although his talents are very diverse he's one of the best performers today and definitely worth a watch. Derren's the reason I'm watching Dai and he also mentions many other Magicians (mostly Victorian) throughout his special shows on channel 4.

  • @ASHSRV I know who Derren Brown is. I watched his evening of wonders a couple of days ago, actually. I think he has a show on channel 2. Im from New Zealand, by the way

  • @ASHSRV i LOVE derren brown!

  • @ASHSRV He had a show here in the US on the sci fi channel. I have been aware of him for many years but I am into magic so.... He is fantastic, one of my favorites.

  • his a real mind fucker

  • The profesor is amazing. I know exactly how it's done but it still fools me. Lost legend

  • lol

  • de k año es esto?

  • O.o where all these balls came from at the end :O

  • This is the best quality I've seen!

  • The only man to ever fool Houdini.

  • @kimano117 That's not true. Yes one of the things that he was known for was for fooling Houdini, but he wasn't the first, last. or only one do do so.

  • The urn with Dai Vernon's ashes has been sealed and secured in place on a high shelf at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. It seems many magicians were trying to take a pinch of the great man with them. He's pretty close to being the saint of magic.

  • @RoscoesRiffs He is Saint of Magic.

  • @ccardsshark88 i tried this when i was busking and 1 guy laughed and everyone looked at him in akward silence for a minute!!!!!

  • too bad i never got to see him perform

  • excellent trick ! :)

  • dai vernon FTW!

  • Different class altogether, even when you know how it's done you still can't see the sleight of hand.

  • This guy is amazing...wow...too good.

  • holy fucking fuck fuck jesus fuckin fuck! o.o

  • @reitz50 Do you have Torret's?

  • Vernon was certainly a legend....

  • damn, he's amazing!!!!

I would have loved to have seen him perform in person.

  • I'd love to have met that guy.

  • That's a man that cups his balls like a pro.

  • He's definitely very skilled but not the best entertainer. Watch Lance Burton's version for pretty much the same handling but better presentation.

  • In fact I think it's quite interesting, that he struggles in talking several times, but still is better in technique than most of the magicians of today. It really shows he earned the name "Professor".

  • the professor!!!!!!!!!!! he had a way to to everything in different ways i wish i could of meet him..

  • Wow he was pretty good, I get the concept of what he was doing but I'm still in awe of the skill.

  • Amazing.

  • "please reveal"... are you serious? Buy a book and learn the cups and balls yourself. You just watched the greatest close up magician of our time do one of the classics of magic and all you can say is "please reveal". Magic is for more than someone to reveal on youtube so you can try and show your friends your cool new trick at lunchtime. These are secrets that are supposed to be kept to preserve the whole nature of the art. "Please reveal"... I'm beyond words...

  • @SpeedTheory You're talking about keeping the secret but recommend any stupid fool to buy a book and learn it? Oh come on ... just leave him with a simple "no", but dont give him any hint ...

  • 2:03 Awesome

  • Such natural movement

  • He was known as "The Profesor" for any reason xD, as you see...looks so simple, so natural, so easy to understant what is he explaining...he was a genius.

  • Where was the Professor's standing ovation?

  • The audience were lost, they didn't appreciate true skill. Mind you they didn't see him after he had about 10 whiskeys either!

  • i bet magicians appreciated it though ...

  • god i love him! i swear its such a shame i wish he was still around he was such an incredible magician RIP :[

  • he really was the master of magic. just so beautifu soo watch

  • dai was allegedly the master but have you seen michael ammar??, he is both the apprentice and the master,

i met him in 2006, twice

  • Michael Ammar is great, one of my favorite magicians. Juan Tamariz, Michael Vincent, Ricky Jay, Paul Harris are the top magicians in my opinion.

  • SLYDINI!!!!!!

  • R.I.P

  • I have learn the cups and balls rutine today, but I'm still suprise:-D

  • the best man in magic still is. i know right mrdavidn3 i felt sorry for them

  • The Professor of Magic.

  • I feel so sad for the kids behind him...the poor things can't see a thing :(

  • Is that a Crimean war medal?

  • The man was a genius. RIP Dai Vernon.

  • Legend

  • AKA...The Professor what a legend!!!!!

  • And that ladies and gentlemen, is the man who fooled houdini!

  • How?

  • i learned alot from alot of his books... brilliant man who knows his stuff

  • How the fuuck thit he get 2 big balls in the center cup ??? fucking ey

  • i see how this is done but he uses great misdirection that is seemless that he fools the audience while reavling a trick gota love dai vernon

  • In -theory- I know how he's doing it. In -practice-, for the life of me, I can NOT see the sleights! Magnificently smooth! And I love his patter, too. As the previous poster said - it's like he's just sitting there shooting the BS with you and not performing at all. Brilliant!

  • smooth

  • best person at slight of hand ever!!!!!

every trick is amazing by dai vernon

  • I'd love to see a performance of Vernon when he was some years younger.

He's just brilliant, but you already see his age coming through a bit. He must have been more than brilliant some time before that

  • he spent much of his years researching and looking for different sleights and moves... amazing history

  • Super!!!Perfekt!!...its Magic

  • Vernon would have loved the Michael Lee Millennium Cups

a really great cup that holds a big Load.!

  • What a legend.

  • I love it When Dai says, "the cups are pourous, and that one fell off."

  • just the way that it looks like he's not even performing but actually just bs'ing....that makes this routine so much better

  • i'll admit, whem i fist started doing magic, i was 14 (now 22), and it was after seeing David Blian on TV, I wanted to be like him, but when i discovered the magic of Dai Vernon, i was like David who? I believe without a doubt, Dai will influance magic for another 100 years or more, he is without a doubt the Greatest Magician EVER!!!!!

  • one word. perfect

  • The Professor is GENIUS

  • holy hell where did those balls come from at the end!?!?!?

  • @Orangeflava Its MAGIC!! heheheh

  • @Orangeflava

I know but if you look carefully you can kinda guess....it's so quick and artistic, it's nothing short of brilliant

  • @AceofDlamonds you have to guess, you cant know unless you're a magician, that is brilliant already.

  • @OliveroG

But I know that last part though, the guy i was responding to just didn't, so i told him to make an educated guess..

  • @Orangeflava

    HELL!

  • @Orangeflava (i'm italian) when he is talking about misdirection, he misdirect you! He takes the balls from his pocket, i suppose when he take the cups near him: 4:38, 4:46, 4:58 (he puts the second). I have understood this trick!

  • @Orangeflava

    His left pocket.

  • holy balls he's terrific

  • Brilliant. Such a joy to watch.

  • He was easily the greatest magician of the 20th Century. Today's magicians will eventually be even greater because they have the video example of his technique to work from instead of written description.

Its a shame he never got the recognition he really deserved when people like Chris Angel and so on are much much famous but haven't one tenth the ability.

  • @Tufrmone, i agree 100%

  • @Tufrmone Yeah, I find guys like Criss Angel a bit offensive to be honest. He relies on a lot of special effects rather than just good old fashioned slight of hand. I think people like him like the idea of being a magician, but just don't want to actually work at it.

  • @Tufrmone Dont forgot Cardini (the TRULLY GREATEST MAGICIAN of 20th Century....

  • @Tufrmone Many would disagree. Yes Vernon was one of the best but if you ask many. Fred Kaps was the best in the world. I have to side with those naming Kaps as the best.

  • @RS1963 I've never even heard of Fred Kaps. What was he famous for?

  • @superchef78 Do a search.

  • @superchef78 he was a great manipulator with money, coins and so on... he also used the unlimited salt thing in his act

  • The greatest magician of the 20th century. Period.

  • real good

  • he was a great magician

  • RIP DAI VERNON...

  • What's really fun is to impersonate him while doing one of your acts and see who gets it. You can immediately spot all the magicians in the room lol

  • ha ha ha....great idea..must try that :)

  • @ccardsshark88 lmao!

  • @ccardsshark88

Damn someone came up with it before me. T_T

  • wow

    thats

    coolio

  • Kind of Ironic, I have performed both of these and get a far bigger audience reaction from Mark Wilson's routine from his Magic course. I do believe this is more for Magicians then it is for lay audiences, they get confused watching it.
