@erikals2 Europe uses a system called PAL for video. The US uses NTSC. There are pros and cons to both (PAL has a higher resolution, for example, and NTSC has a screen juddering issue on older televisions), but PAL speeds up audio and video by 4% which makes people move slightly too fast and makes audio pitch too high (most notable in scenes like this one that feature music). Compare the music in this scene to the actual video for Belle Stars' "Iko Iko" and you'll hear the difference.
They didnt meant, that we believe that car is flying in mid air . Its just a scene in which a car is unloaded from a container ship by crane in rather different view :D
@eze14213 Not really that difficult just to buy yourself the DVD, is it? I actually got mine at Stop&Shop a few years ago, but any Blockbuster would have this to own.
@JennylovesMJ Cults aren't so bad. I've been involved in a number of cults both as a leader and a follower. You have more fun as a follower but you make more money as a leader
Possibly one of the greatest opening sequences ever!! Four Lamborghinis coupled with this song is Awesome!! Another great movie into is "Trainspotting".
I got to see this movie being filmed in Northern Kentucky. I met Cruise, who gave my sister a kiss on the cheek. She jokes that Tom was her first boyfriend.
He was a real nice guy. We met him at the location where Raymond lives, which is/was a convent in real life (I think). Even the nuns were cooing over Cruise. Funny but true story I heard that day: Dustin Hoffman went to use the john inside when a nun handed him a piece of paper for an autograph while he was using the stall! I can't believe it was over 20 years ago.
I wonder if Tom Cruise had anything to do with opening the movie with the song Iko Iko. the song was used again in Mission Impossible 2 in the opening (just a different version by Zap Mama)!
I brought out my "Rain Man" CD soundtrack today, and listened to it in the car. I bought it nearly 20 years ago after seeing this movie in theaters. I wanted the CD for the sole reason to have "Iko Iko." I was only 11 or 12 then, and it was one of my first CDs. Heh, nowadays you'd just come on youtube and listen to it.
ps: Just wanted to add thank you for uploading this. I always remembered this opening scene mainly due to the song. Hard to not think of the opening scenes of "Rain Man" when hearing this song. Very cool.
I swear I knew this song before but NOW I always will associate it with one of cinema's most under appreciated automotive porn scenes ever.

I just love the look of the Ferrari 400i. Reminds me of my Alfa Romeo 164 LS but definitely better looking with the lower profile and longer trunk.

What exactly is Cruise's job in this film? Is he a salesman or importer or what.

He's basically a manager of this car company

no exotic car importer. then sells them to the dealerships.

Yes - a flying Lamborghini! Somebody better alert Doc Brown that his '82 Delorean may have some competition!

I think it would have been too flashy if he drove a lambo in the movie.
I guess they wanted something more subdued, and he got a no name, basic ferrari.
