im 15 and weigh 145 my max is 175 and i cant seem to lift 175 anymore but i rep 135 way better then i did when i wasnt maxin 175 any reason why and tips for improvin?
@TheMadman95 Just stick with it. You're young, so you've got a lot of room to improve. The fact that you are improving, but not increasing your weight tells me you should change your routine. You might want to try using a little heavier weight, with less reps. Set up a program of heavier weight, and stick to it.
im 17 i wiegh 150 and max at 245. but ive been suck here for a few months now. i do bench with a more narrow grip, and have started o slowly ork my way out to a wider one. but my outer chest isnt as developed as my inner. once i begin to work wider will my inner chest even play a role in the amount i bench? any tips for develping a wider chest and adapting to a wider bench?
@baraka300 It's best to just go wide, and adjust accordingly. You may not be fully developed yet, so you may not want to go super wide, because you'll have room to grow. I suggest you just start lifting wider, at first you won't be able to push as much weight, but it will come soon.
@lilzcak14 Shoulder problems are a big deal. Don't lift if it hurts. Just take it slow, and hopefully you'll be back to full strength soon. I lift with a few guys who have shoulder problems, and it has kept them out for months. Be careful lifting until you are healthy.
if i've hit my short term goal should i take a break and start a new routine or should i continue to lift, either the same routine or a new one? i've been on a routine for about 5 weeks and gained 25 pounds on my max.
@wrangler970 It's fine to take a break every once and awhile, but if you're still motivated, and seeing improvement, I don't see any reason for you to stop.
Im in 7th grade. Im 13, I got held back a year. I am 190 6'0. I can only max 115. and i rep 105 7 times. I need some tips on getting Bigger Faster and stronger. I play football and i started at right guard but next in 8th ill be a captain. So any tips!
hey i'm 15 almost 16 my max is 170lbs and im only 120lbs im hoping for 200 by the end of the school year any tips? i did hit a bump and wasnt able to get past 160 and finally have, anything i can do if it happens again so i get by it faster
@JumpiestXX Your max is impressive in relation to your bodyweight. If you really want to push heavier weight, you may want to try bulking up a bit. There's a saying, "Weight moves weight". Basically it means the heavier you are, the more you'll push. If you plateau again, adding the extra weight would help. Otherwise, just keep lifting, and you should improve. You should also change your routine up every once and awhile. Don't do the same things each week or you'll stagnate.
@itsmetibbs thx and ya im trying but im just one of those kids no matter how much i eat i cant seem to gain weight but its winter and i dont do any sports till the summer so maybe i have gained a bit im hoping to weigh myself soon since our scale broke, but again thx :) il let u know when i do get it
I'm 15 weigh about 250 and am around 6 ft 1. My previous max was 260 when I was a freshmen. Tomorrow I am going for 300. Do you think that an improper mindset may throw you off your lift and not being able to do the weight?
@NewYorkGiantsROK The mental game is pretty important to moving heavy weight. The funny thing about lifting is that the heavier you go, the more perfect your form needs to be. If your mind isn't right, and you don't focus on form, you may miss your lift. Some of the guys I lift with won't attempt to go heavier sometimes because they don't want to miss the lift which will put doubts in thier head as to whether or not they can do the weight. They feel it's better to end on a positive note.
Im 15, 5'10, weigh 145 and max 205 ever since hitting 205 a couple of weeks ago i cant seem to up it anymore, I do everything you do (as in arch your back pin your shoulders) starting a few months ago i started arching my back and pinning my shoulders because its supposed to take pressure off of your delts and onto your chest, any tips?
@SwaggaJacker23 Just keep lifting. Every once and awhile you'll plateau, and need to change things up. One thing I really liked doing recently was lowering the weight I used to 135lbs, and just focusing on form for 5 or so explosive reps. A friend of mine borrowed the routine from Ryan Kennelly's book. Anyway, I'd try mixing up your routine a little. Try doing work with chains, bands, or rack work as well.
I started working out almost six months ago. I remm when I started I could only bench about 95 once. Im hitting up 135 x15 now, and maxing out at 185lbs. Im 16, and weigh around 145lbs.
I'm 14 and have been going to the gym for about 6 months and can bench about 185. No matter what i do I can't increase my benching. Also if you do a wide grip bench press when you start heavy lifting you will blow out your shoulder. you are supposed to do a close grip and bring it down to your lower chest.
@Zebrasrfly I appreciate your input. You may be correct about blowing your shoulder out, but only because you're so young, and your body isn't fully developed yet. I haven't had any shoulder problems, but as a rule of thumb, if it hurts, you should think twice about doing it. IF going wide is painful, don't do it.
This video is for increasing your bench press as a powerlifter, so I won't debate as to which form is correct. The form I use in this video will help you lift more weight period.
@Zebrasrfly everyone gets stuck at that weight, its weird im 16 when i was 15 i was stuck at your weight, what i did is do extra heavy sets that i can only lift 5 to 4 times, try that i can lift 240 now
@Zebrasrfly your stll young.... when your fully done puberty you'll be a beast! wen u get around 20-22 ur bodys gonna bulk up, you'll see.... keep it up! good work!
right now i have a relatively close grip with my pinkies at the index line.i weigh 160 and im benching 310. do u think a wider grip would help me push more weight in the long run? or should i just keep it where its most comfortable? anything that would help me finally break that 315 which ive been stuck on for months now.
@Apocolyps911 In the long run you'll probably benefit from widening your grip. The problem I see in widening it would be that you seem to be a smaller guy than me which may cause problems. I use the widest grip allowed in competition.
You may be better suited for a narrower grip than me, but my experience has been that most people can widen their grip slightly more than they are used to and see improvements, even though it may take your muscles a few months to get used to the change
Very nice, I just started going to the gym( I'm 5'10 150lbs) and my max is 145 after 3 weeks at the gym.
The "push to your head" tip might improve my bench because it always seems like I bring it down too low on my chest and then its hard to get it back to center.... I'll try it tomorrow.
@0o0oyeah You're in a great spot because you are new to the gym. You're at a stage where your body is learning to move the weight in the most efficient way possible. If you stick with it, you'll see double digit increases simply because your body learns the best way to move the weight.
im 15 and weigh 145 my max is 175 and i cant seem to lift 175 anymore but i rep 135 way better then i did when i wasnt maxin 175 any reason why and tips for improvin?

@itsmetibbs Thxs, What do you think is the best type of exercises on the bench. Lots of reps.? Less reps. but more weight?
Down and pause for a sec.?
My goal is 200 lbs in 3 months. So 60 lbs in 3 months.
Might be imposable we'll see :)
