the only thing you need to worry about are the games, controllers are universal.

haha nono they work fine, but if you play at the arcade you'll get what i mean. The spacing is completely different and that why a lot of people are choosing DAO controllers nowadays.

yes. you either need a japanese ps2, or you have to mod your ps2 to allow it to play japanese games.

i have pop'n 7, 8, 9, 10, and best hits. i also just got 11 and 12 last week, so i'm currently playing 11 and working on unlocking it. haven't even opened 12 yet, haha.

O2Jam / O2Mania is a beatmania-ish game for the pc. I would assume HARD is a difficulty and Gaussian Blur is some mod.

O2 is horrible though haha.

Gaussian Blur is the hardest song on O2Jam >_> It has a rating of 50 and you're a beast if you can pass it. BTW, kakeness, you should post a video of your accomplishment before challenging others to it (i.e., if it isn't a friendly challenge :)

No. Gaussian blur isn't that hard and the rating is biased. There's songs lower level than gaussian blur (Identity II, Phase 1) that I have trouble with yet I can nearly pass gb...it's not hard just fast.

I've wondered, how tight is the timing on pop'n?

I play IIDX and i'm pretty good at it (can pass 11s) and I have some high AAs and some AAAs on 8s and 9s, how well would I manage pop'ns timing?

popn timin is easier

typically, during regular gameplay, i would consider pop'n timing easier than iidx timing. it varies from song to song though, just like in any other rhythm game.

scoring well on expert courses in pop'n is pretty tough, with the addition of cool timing. it's kinda like flashing greats in iidx.

oh, and don't forget the the harder songs in pop'n require ridiculous hand speed and dexterity, and the ability to mash the crap out of 6+ buttons at a time, haha.

out of all the Pop'n games i own, i do not have Pop'n Music 9 (favorite is 12). i might get around to it though because of all the des-row songs on it. expect a video response in the future, haha!

i tried that originally, but i couldn't really get a good angle that included both the controller and the screen as well.

but if you search "pop'n music" here on youtube, you can find numerous videos that show how the game is played with the controller.

i started playing iidx years ago, before i ever even played pop'n, haha. but once i picked up pop'n, i started playing that a lot more because i just think it's more fun.

i have a few of the older iidx home mixes. but the newest one i have is 8th style, haha. i got the konamistyle special edition when it came out.
