@Zenodilodon were they defective? I have one just like those in the video but it rarelly gets a steady beam for long before it becomes dim. Sometimes it seems like something is wrong with the button because moving my finger while pressing it will sometimes make it bright again but most of the time nothing helps, even chaning the batteries doesn't make it brighter. Have you ever had this problem? is there a way to fix it?

@worf65 It's a temperature thing, the warmer the MCA gets on lasers without a pump focusing lens the further the MCA is away from the laser diode, this makes it less efficient and you get a much dimmer beam as a result.

@Zenodilodon It is almost always at room temperature (68 F) with a maximum temperature reached when left in my pocket. It often seems much more random. A few days ago I could only get a barely visible (in dark surroundings) light. I changed the batteries (no effect), kept trying for a while with no luck. I then let it sit for about 2 hours in the open, not in my pocket, it still was barely visible. The next day it worked fine. it seems it is very dim more often than not.

@Kawe87 due to the 808 diode type making it completely focused is difficult and produces a rectangle waveform without correcting prisms. for this mod it's best to get a pinpoint dot as about 4-6 inches away from the output.

@gaterin1998 the only difference if the outer silver part. the black lens assembly is the same exact thing.your probably going to run into troubles with this mod this is more of a complicated mod.

How do u get the entire module out of the casing so it's just the shell cuz I have a different diode ad I want to replace it with that one I tried to simply push it out but it's in there good and it's not glued cuz it moves it's just really hard do u have any tips on how u got urs out? Pleas help

@1133341 Everything on my youtube is for DIY, to get where I am I trashed more lasers then most people have owned lol. Research what your doing and the advantaged and disadvantages to everything out there take your time and you will get it. Or you can pay more for an expensive laser and no worry about trying to mod a cheap one.

Hi there, I got the same laser as you are, and I also have the CD Lens. However, which way should I place the CD Lens? This is because one side of the CD Lens is curved outwards while the other side is curved inwards. So which side does the CD Lens need to face? Thanks

@bulbasaurhamster It should work best with the curved out side towards the diode, though it doesn't sound like you have the best lens both sides should be curved out.

@nvask8rs It looks purple cause thats how the camera sees it, you see it much less/differently then a camera CCD does and so what you see is a faint red, will it work, yes it is supposed to look red to the naked eye

@SiegheilJohnson1 The IR diode will last standard 5000 lifetime hours. You can see a faint red but 95% of the light is not see-able by human vision.
