  • How is this humanly possible?!

  • WOW

  • Horowitz always had the uncanny ablility to clarify the most difficult pieces. I do like this performance, but I would suggest removing some of the clutter would help.

  • Damm, this IS HOT!

  • too bad the sounds not good

  • This is definitely a different interpretation from the "standard" version everyone else plays, and it's probably not everyone's cup of tea.

  • i realize my opinion may be obliterated here because it's clearly not a popular one: technically she's wonderful, i however felt nothing and could not gather any color or true life from this interpretation, her hands were more enthralling than the piece itself, and with the exception of a well-followed upper melody, the general dynamic was jittery and did not build to any traceable climax. i think i have been spoiled by Horowitz, but rightly so

  • @ProteusX2 listen to Sofronitsky's performance

  • This is good despite the terrible sound quality and she missed quite a few notes. I still love it though.

  • i am speechless.

  • that sounded amazinggggggggg

  • This is an example of a performer getting empathetically (physically) involved in the music without trying to be showy. Contrast that with the performers whose hands, head, and body fly all over the place---and whose performances generally are either sloppy or metronomic.

This performance is exceptional on many levels. It's different than that of the mainstream, but it's valid, and it's intelligently played. It's an interpretation, not a rote-based recital as so many do nowadays.

  • Her playing is so beautiful and sorrowful. I was all tearful

  • why do asians seem to have different hand techniques to westerners? their hands seem to elastically mould over the keys in a sloppy way but still have great definition?

  • @afertyus1000 because we eat rice and tofu every day, then we pray to ancestors for nimble and unique 'hand techniques' to differentiate ourselves from white devils.

  • @pyroprince78 ha so called 'white devils originated the music you personally do a disservice to the asian community with your racist comment

  • @afertyus1000 hmm. irony eludes you.

  • @pyroprince78 irony never works on YT didn't you know that hmm

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful . exelent post

  • Fabulous left hand...

  • C'est techniquement parfait, par contre on tombe dans la pathos dès les deux premières mesures et c'est fort dommage

  • its sex thu music

  • So moving. She brings out the passion in Scriabin's piece

  • My goal of life is to learn how to play this better than she does.

  • simply increadible!!!! 5 stars !!!!!!

  • A wonderful performance!

  • Exquisite piece and playing

  • Wow, i really felt that ending, intense

  • jesus

  • A nice interpretation - sleek and precise - I find this a bit TOO "affannato", though... It doen't feel wrong, but I like to hear it played more continuously.

  • I love this interpretation - lots of angst and passion, the way this piece is supposed to be played....Brava!

  • I love it :)

  • She's from Taiwan and won a silver medal in the 12th Int'l Rubinstein Piano Competition!

  • ps. 1st prize is not awarded at 12th competition.

By the way, Hu is graduate from Juilliard School

  • Encore une pianiste de talent ...elle joue Scriabin mieux que Kissin...en plus elle joue sans regarder le clavier.., Quel exploit !?. Bonjour les crampes aux doigts !!! GRENOBLE FRANCE

  • She looks a bit tense, but her playing is so graceful and precise!

  • Wow this is pretty amazing. Her hands are so beautiful and graceful. A stunning piece and excellently performed!

  • Such a tough piece, and a wonderful and precise performance.

  • I know 30 performances of this piece, but i think she is still amazing. Her hands move so smoothly and attractively.

  • Bravo!

  • She has reached a level where there is only music. There is no need to say more, just listen!

  • Those asking for more passion aren't listening.

  • never such a thing as too much passion in music, don't me stupid

  • Beautiful and passionate

  • Are her eyes closed?

  • I find this interpretation great ! I like the power, the sincopatus, the little pauses before the explosions. I mean ... is great. Nothing to say. BUT I love this song played more .... passionly. As a inner turmoil that HAVE to jump out of your soul. In this case i Adore Horowitz interpretations and maybe not well known to the mass .... Lydia Jardon one. Just try to listen. And will debate here again.

  • Piano really has very little to do with muscular strength. You get all your power from placing your body's full weight on ur finger tips. U do this by relaxing ur wrists, elbows, and shoulders, so all ur kinetic energy transfers fluidly without hitting any stops. The 4th and 5th fingers need a bit of training, but otherwise its much much more about technique. Halida Dinova (watch her Rachmaninoff video) taught me for a lil, and she is a virtuosa.

  • Let's see you play fast and accurate double stops with your shoulders.

  • fail

  • "You realize it is not successful in debating with me then turn to "fuck"; "

ehm... no, I didn't realize it and it was not a debate.

I just revealed the stupidity in your comments.

  • "Say that to Beethoven, Scriabin, and Rachmaninoff."

You have no understanding of their music and your opinion fucking sucks.

"I was talking with somebody else and I think it is none of your business. "

    God damn you're stupid.

Continue carrying pianos your whole life instead of playing them, fucktard.

  • playing the piano isn't about "muscular power". It is usually bad to have too strong hands for a pianist.

"Well, if you are so confident about your muscular power, I sincerely wish you to come to help me carry the piano since I am about to move."

Why don't you carry my piano?

  • thanks for telling me that you are "looking down" on other people´s opinions (not that i couldn´t sense that before) cause that makes it easier for me to get myself out of this banal argument. still 1 thing is really interesting: since i was reading a lot about female musicians of 19th century (and reactions to them) i find your comments very similar to male behaviour back then: first pretend to be "rational"+omniscient, if this isn´t successfull go on with degrading irony. sad link...

  • ha, of course i can deny that!! in other times it was supposed to be "the lack of creativty" now it´s some "muscular power"..and people always were so CONVINCED that they were right with these ideas.. you know, convinctions sometimes control or delimit one´s perception of reality and possibility.. history proves that for me quite well..

    stay questioning....

  • there are really people out there who still have such thoughts about gender and music..welcome to 21.century..

    great performance!

  • She realy feels this piece

  • I must agree about Horowitz...

  • exelente buena interpretacon , mucha pasion energia y actitud

  • Beautiful hands! The left hand is amazing, it makes those huge jumps in the left hand seem effortless.

  • This is a terrifying piece, both in the technical prowess required to play it, and how it sounds. It gives me chills every time I hear it.

  • I am deeply impressed.

    That's a fantastic performance.

Thanks a lot for posting this video.

By the way, @sofronitzky: "un peu nerveuse"

? It's Scriabine, that should explain it :0)

  • wow, made my toes curl, thanks!

  • Let me say sth:

    Oh my God! Amazing.

  • Wow, very expressive. Very nice Scriabin.

  • great! i love your playing!

  • Bellissima interpretazione.... grande tecnica

  • La mejor interpretación en youtube. La que hay de Kissin es buena pero le falta "garra" como a esta mujer. Ojalá lo hubiese encontrado con Lisitsa o Argerich.

  • Bravo Ching-Yun!!!!!!:)

Graet interpretation. She was my favourite on the Rubinstein competition. I think, that this young woman is a rare talent.

    I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • marvellous!

  • Are her eyes closed!!!!???? Amazing!!! I love the way her hands move....like magnetically attracted to the keyboard..she looks like she is making love...I'm going to dress like a piano!! :0)

  • beside her wonderful technique, her best quality of playing in here seems that she is deeply connected as she plays w/ out fluffy, showy gesture, internally she's directly connected to this brooding, seething inner terbulence of Scriabin--that certainly is a rare quality these days among young pianist.

  • Wow! I'm learning this etude. This magnificent performance makes me feel wholly incompetent

  • Wonderful!!

I am playing this etude too and I know how difficult to make it nice.. You have done a very nice lyrics phrasing as well.

    Congratulations :)
