@TheFcb101 you could torrent it..... that's what i do cuz limewire got shut down so just go to thepiratebay or something and you can download full albums in like 5 minutes or less.... then you just drag the files into the zune software's library and THEN drag the files from your zune library to the zune device icon in the software....... ya

I agree that the Zune HD is more media focused than the iPod Touch - which is more of a PDA - but with the Zune HD doing apps and even having an alarm clock app right now, the true differences between them are pretty small. I'm a fan of the Zune, but I don't think there's any reason why it shouldn't have a microphone, speaker, and camera on it. If it did, maybe it would actually be selling well. :-(

@LZLandingZone Don't trade it in for an HD. I have an HD and I absolutely love it, but I was coming from a Zune 8GB, so I had a good reason to upgrade. You have a 120, and the bump down to 16, 32, or 64GB will probably not be worth a few extra trinkets here and there.
Consider yourself smart for choosing Zune over iPod to begin with. No reason to "upgrade" to a model you might not benefit from too much. :)

@GamersWeekly123 Nope, I've never had that happen - but of course there's a "chance". It's just a matter of how likely it is. The iPod Touch doesn't have a lock button either. Start up time from completely powered off to the swipe to unlock screen is 19 seconds.

My old zune 4gb locked itself and even thought the lock button was in the unlock position it was still locked. Will the zune hd have the same problem? cuz i just bought my today and i hope that doesn't happen again.
If you update software, do you have to update the previous firmware till you get to the newest one? Or the does the latest firmware have all the old apps and other stuff to?
@AstroXtreme I don't understand what you're asking. Are you asking if, when you update to the latest firmware, all your apps stay the same? Yes, they do. It's a non-destructive update.
just to let you guys kno, u can change the wallpaper and you can also upload your own pictures that u took and set them as a wallpaper and/or keep it in your picture folder.

for my b-day im debating between zune hd or ipod touch. i have a black 1st generation zune and ive had it for 3 years and im really happy with it. but i hear that ipods are ALOT better. the main reason i got a zune is because i wanted to take videos on the go and the zune had a reasonable price and BIGGER screen than the ipod. right now i have the zune 32 gb. but does the zune hd have the same supports like mp4 and all that like the zune 32 gb? and does ipod touch have good video supports also?
The only 32 GB zune out is the zune HD. So Im guessing you meant the original zune (30 GB). Im 99% sure that the formats the original zune supported are supported in the newer zunes. It will make little sense to cut back on compatibility. I dont know anything too much iPod Touch though.
I've had the Zune HD for 3 months... and I'm not satisfied. If you want irc, msn, yahoo, aim, better web browsing experience, louder volume, good music playback functions, music on repeat and being able to change any song without disabling repeat, THEN BUY AN IPOD TOUCH. DO NOT BUY THE ZUNE HD.

@ThoughtsMedia xna and no openzdk have paved the way for tons of homebrew apps on the zune hd, where now there is a port of Doom, a gameboy emulator, and tons of xna apps such as small games and chat apps. google zune hd homebrew apps and you will be very surprised

Microsoft needs to open the Zune Marketplace to third party apps - until they do, the Zune won't flourish as a competitor to the iPod Touch. Installing apps has to be easy and intuitive.
two arguements to the ZuneHD built-in speaker debate is that its a personal media device nd it will make the device bigger so it does ruin the size quality of the device

yea what they said is basically third party apps wont be here that soon or there won't be that many because they are in the process of making a windows mobile app store and they don't want two separate app stores that could potentially have paralleling titles
crywolf383 has it right: the forthcoming Windows phone 7 phones have a LOT in common with the Zune HD, so it's just a matter of time until things line up on the application side of things. But it's not going to happen next week if that's what anyone is hoping for...
Ok, u obviously haven't been around a zune hd long enough to give a good review. Why would u make a video b4 u synced it with your pc?! The best parts r after the sync like apps, marketplace, setting pics as backgrounds (cough), and also shortcut on homepage displaying pins, history, and new materials

I used to have a Zune 30GB and it was solid, It worked very well, it served me for over an year.. Now have an ipod touch, and I'm really liking it, and as you mentioned its all because of the apps, theres a massive amount of games and apps available for the ipod touch.. BUT Itunes as far as im concerned sucks, if you hook it up to another pc or format and u wanna add songs/apps, everything will be erased, and that isnt the case with Zune software.. Apple def needs to do something about itunes
When it comes to music/photos, I use the Zune HD more. It has a nicer screen, sounds better, and a vastly superior user interface for moving around my music. If I'm in the mood for apps though (including email, YouTube, etc.) then the iPod Touch does what the Zune HD can't yet do...so they both have their places.
It's a beautiful screen. It is hyper-contrast and hyper-saturation, so not exactly colour-calibrated type images, but all photos look so beautiful. :-)
hey, does anyone known if you can transfer itunes music to zune? my old ipod touch got stolen and the zune looks like a better music experience(the lack of apps doesn't really bother me, i need a MUSIC player :P)
Assuming that your iTunes music isn't DRM-protected, yes, you can move all that music onto a Zune without a problem. The Zune plays WMA, MP3, and AAC files. If your iTunes songs are DRM-protected, you'll see to pay to get them "upgraded" to be free of Apple's song protection.
Jason- Could you suggest a earphone for Zune HD which enhance bass, gives warm, clear sound and isolate noise but not expensive (budget -mid price range)

Least favourite? The lack of apps - I've grown accustomed to using a few apps regularly on my iPod Touch, like the email client. WiFi range? No idea - that's not something I test.
Yes, you can download apps. You can't buy movies/videos, but you can buy music if you have Xbox Live points purchased in the USA. There's an article at Zune Thoughts called "An International Zune Users Guide" that's worth reading.
did you push the power button on top? all that does is turn the screen off its like that button on the top of an ipod touch. just push the power button again and slide the screen saver up

I live in Calgary and I haven't been able to pick up any HD radio stations - I don't think there ARE any up here...a quick Google search tells me what Canada adopted the DAB standard. I don't know what a "digital radio station" is though...I'm assuming you're referring to HD Radio?

The Zune team has a history of releasing regular updates for the product, adding new features and fixing bugs. I expect that to continue with the Zune HD.

I've had the Zune HD for 3 months... and I'm not satisfied. If you want irc, msn, yahoo, aim, better web browsing experience, louder volume, good music playback functions, music on repeat and being able to change any song without disabling repeat, THEN BUY AN IPOD TOUCH. DO NOT BUY THE ZUNE HD.
Im planning on returning my Zune HD for an iPod Touch 3g with the warranty I have.
Overall... these PMP's are strongly about preference.

@killer3878 No, there are only about 17 apps for the Zune HD. All are developed by Microsoft; there's no open app marketplace for developers to create apps.

@ThoughtsMedia xna and no openzdk have paved the way for tons of homebrew apps on the zune hd, where now there is a port of Doom, a gameboy emulator, and tons of xna apps such as small games and chat apps. google zune hd homebrew apps and you will be very surprised

@KOGAN1221 The Zune HD will make no headway against the iPod Touch so long as you have to use hacks to get apps on it. Microsoft needs to open the Zune Marketplace to third party apps - until they do, the Zune won't flourish as a competitor to the iPod Touch. Installing apps has to be easy and intuitive.

@mjenabi2 I use my iPod Touch as an alarm clock. I can't do that with my Zune HD, and I'd like to. Quality doesn't matter when you just need a chime to wake up to. ;-)

@ThoughtsMedia once again i agree, but surely, you have a phone? even my grand parents use their phones as alarm clock. to be fair, 99% of people are more likely to carry their phone with them, at all time, specially at home. but again, having it is good, but i dont think speakers would be a make or break sort of feature. btw, great set of videos on the zune devices. thanks

yea what they said is basically third party apps wont be here that soon or there won't be that many because they are in the process of making a windows mobile app store and they don't want two separate app stores that could potentially have paralleling titles

Ok, u obviously haven't been around a zune hd long enough to give a good review. Why would u make a video b4 u synced it with your pc?! The best parts r after the sync like apps, marketplace, setting pics as backgrounds (cough), and also shortcut on homepage displaying pins, history, and new materials

I used to have a Zune 30GB and it was solid, It worked very well, it served me for over an year.. Now have an ipod touch, and I'm really liking it, and as you mentioned its all because of the apps, theres a massive amount of games and apps available for the ipod touch.. BUT Itunes as far as im concerned sucks, if you hook it up to another pc or format and u wanna add songs/apps, everything will be erased, and that isnt the case with Zune software.. Apple def needs to do something about itunes

When it comes to music/photos, I use the Zune HD more. It has a nicer screen, sounds better, and a vastly superior user interface for moving around my music. If I'm in the mood for apps though (including email, YouTube, etc.) then the iPod Touch does what the Zune HD can't yet do...so they both have their places.

It's a beautiful screen. It is hyper-contrast and hyper-saturation, so not exactly colour-calibrated type images, but all photos look so beautiful. :-)

Assuming that your iTunes music isn't DRM-protected, yes, you can move all that music onto a Zune without a problem. The Zune plays WMA, MP3, and AAC files. If your iTunes songs are DRM-protected, you'll see to pay to get them "upgraded" to be free of Apple's song protection.

Least favourite? The lack of apps - I've grown accustomed to using a few apps regularly on my iPod Touch, like the email client. WiFi range? No idea - that's not something I test.

@heyitstheo47 the ipod touch loads pages more faster and is more smooth with the webkit engine while the zune has kind of a windows mobile browser.
The zune hd in my opinion looks and feels nice. but right now i would go with ipod touch maybe 2nd gen zune hd will be better...

Yes, you can download apps. You can't buy movies/videos, but you can buy music if you have Xbox Live points purchased in the USA. There's an article at Zune Thoughts called "An International Zune Users Guide" that's worth reading.

I live in Calgary and I haven't been able to pick up any HD radio stations - I don't think there ARE any up here...a quick Google search tells me what Canada adopted the DAB standard. I don't know what a "digital radio station" is though...I'm assuming you're referring to HD Radio?

and im loving it. i simply love the feel of the menus, and interactions and so many features it has, and it looks AMAZING alot of people told me" That looks Sleek" and "thats beautiful" and i agree. Zune Hd is a MUST if you are a true music lover.

uh no it does not, but i knew that already, and besides i have had some ACCIDENTS in the middle of class when my old mp3 went off through its Speaker, so i dont really care for one. BTW new updates for the player came out, gives you a option in settings for keyboard. and support for 3d games. this is out now. SO GO GET IT IF YOU HAVE A ZUNE

well, very easy! i pod touch are for apps ...zune is for music and video ...if ur a new user buy ipod touch ....there is a reason why. apple's apps are shaking the phone market and mp3 player market... :)..for the old user juz buy i phone ....and zune HD..... u get all!!
