100% driver error. He admitted it anyway. Wish the other angle was posted so you can see him begin his burn-out, you'll see black marks coming from the tires before he loses control.
this dumb was roberto guerrero.... what a stupid mess he did fellas , a month of hard working ended in the fence before the start , i d rather stayed in home playing playstation if i was him ,.
zidane5527, HOLY SHIT!! how are you gonna sit there and lie your ass off like that?! it wasn't suspension failure. it was cold weather, hard ass tires and a single butterfly on the intake manifold that threw him in the fence. he just gave it a little too much to spin the tires and it caught him out. jesus!!
i agree. but it is not the first time someone has stuck it in the fence before the start of the race. how exactly do you know what 900 hp feels like........weren't the ones you drove a little ahem....underpowered? :)
that's true...it is the parade lap. it is also very common that when these guys are coming around to take the green they spin the tires on purpose to put heat in them. operating temp for these tires is critical and it was colder than hell that morning in indy. roberto just got caught out. was it his fault...yea. is he the only one to ever do it ....no. the same thing happened to dixon only a couple of years ago on the main straight.
Something mechanically has to fail for it to be anyone else's but the drivers fault. Tire issues, bad conditions, fatigue are all the drivers job to control.
technical faliure for sure... but to make it funny... he could have fallen to sleep when they where driving so slow and slipped on the steering wheel xD
I don't know exactly what happened, but i remember that it was very cold and the cars suffered the lack of grip under caution speeds, because they couldn't keep the tyres as warm as needed.
@Dimage25 i know this is old but.....he didn't have a failure. unless you count brainfade as a failure. he just fucked up man. another car spun on the next parade lap and he got away with it. he was just unlucky ......as usual.
I know that the tires were cold, but not to call it driver error is wrong. If so, all the cars would have gone off the track, all the same temp? Must have been driver error.
Not only from the pole, set a track record * doing it. Most engine builders want an * because of the Buicks getting a different pop off valve setting that year.
what the fuck?! buick didn't get a different pop off valve dude...they got the stock block rules and as such were allowed 10 extra inches of boost ...55 in' in all. goddamn!!
@atarist123 it was cold track! 1992 was so cold cars failed. Dumb ass

Would have been exciting to see them come in first.

that looks like a suspension failure to me
SLAYERX55 3 years ago
You are correct in assuming so.
Something had broken on the car during practice the day before and the crew missed it completely

Did he survive????
duffduffbeerbeer 3 years ago
No. Impact was so severe he was vaporized. All the was left were parts of his helmet that had impaled a truck 30 miles away.

Don't think I don't know what 900bhp feels like. There were plenty of others that made it through that day, wasn't there?

you think a sharp turn like that was driver error
cousinearl216 4 years ago
It was a driver error because he was not careful enough is difficult conditions.

he definetly had some kind of technical failure, because no one would be so foolish to crash on the wormup lap, starting from the pole.

That track record was beat by Luyendyke in 1996 and still stands today. So no need to have a * as he's not on the list :)
