yes and the fact that the police searched his hom and 13 computers and found NOTHING doesn't count for anything??...the fact that the police had to give him an apology counts for nothing?.....keep believing the Sun you pale, un-educated, fat middleaged west Ham supporter...
Amazes me how many cheers this song gets. When people here the intro they cheer, then when the piano comes in, then when daltrey sings, then the bridge, then the guitar solo then the harmonica solo. Love it!
i had goosebumps when i was there, i still get them, the best band in the world and their best song. i wish i could be there again. just goes to show, if people are willing to stand in the amount of rain that was pouring that night, it just shows how amazing they are and how devoted people are to them. so glad i missed chemical brothers for this!
yeah he does both oasis and the who. watched on a documentry last night said it was Keith moon who taught him to play the drum not his dad cos they used to live next door to each other and he was classed as Uncle Keith. maybe thats why they say he is the only one who can make the drums sound almost as good as keiths
This is awesome. Thank you!!! If you have Amazing Journey and Sparks from this same show, please, please, please post it. It was up before and it was awesome.
Quanto avrei pagato per esserci in quel concerto!!! Non ci sono aggettivi per descriverlo...Forse solo uno...PERFETTO!!! Tutta quella gente con tuette quelle bandiere...e poi... loro!!! GLI WHO!!!!! I MIGLIORI DI SEMPRE!!!
Same here, right at the front against the barrier with my trusty whisky to numb the cold, wet and sore legs from standing since 1pm! Great act to round up the festival though!!
Daltrey's health is been affected also now from the touring which is affecting his vocal. The Who remain a cause! they have given so much thru there musical ideas ,there's no live band like The WHO. There's no writer like Townshend. For me its The WHO and Jazz ,I dont care about the 'in between' much anymore. Murray Lerner's Film's of The WHO released November!!
Pete n Roger still have it. Pete still has the energy flowing through the stage, yes Roger's Voice has become different but whos hasnt? they are still good in mine opinion
Roger's voice has been singing WHO songs since 1963/1964. Guitarists can change their strings...Vocalists can't!! Rog is 62 years old now. They just finished a 2 year world tour. I mean based on all I have just pointed out, dare I have to state the obvious about the guys pipes?? Most lead vocalists 1/2 his age would be struggling...He and THEWHO are the "real" deal! It's a cause!!
I agree with you and I've seen the WHO for the first time in my life in Dublin this year & Oxigen last year.I think Roger is struggling vocally but that may be singing at that level EVERY night as part of a world tour. maybe the Who need to change there game plan, changing key's of some songs ,getting Townshend to sing a little more ,I dont know, but Roger is of course irreplaceable & I think things can be worked out better to assist him.
it's you to retire idiot! the best band on the planet have gray hair! one single ass hair of pete townsend worths much more than any bands sprung out over the last 15 years!!!!!!
It seems every0one who was there has posted here (me included now), but the whole set was amazing! There's summut about Glasto which brings out the best in every performer (well, except when the Manics declared that someone should "build a bypass over this sh*thole!")
thx for this video. I was there, it was awesome. Seeing the Who with thousends of people in the mud, you cant get closer to woodstock. It was a great show.
I went to see them at Wembley Arena 3 nights ago with The Charlatans supporting.....absolutely amazing.....werent at Glastonbury but the Television doesnt do them justice.....Rogers voice is still fantastic live and Petes guitar playing is as good as ever.....still better than anyone live.
They were recording the gig the other night at Wembley and its on a dvd available for pre-order but you're not allowed to post the url here.
hey i was there too! you're right this video sound doesn't do them any justice, they are amazing live, you're left gobsmacked! pete is the epitome of cool when its come to gutiaring, roger can sing and swings that mic like no other! (plus still gets away with dancing with his shirt undone..just ;D)
The Who were the best thing at live 8 (f**k pink floyd), glastonbury (f**k shirley bassey!!) and the best ever band live and i can't wait for the dvd - every1 must buy it, money 4 charity too!
Yes, I was there and they were BLINDING from start to finish. And yes, it is strange, but when I've been asked who the best band were I've got to say The Who. Arctics, Arcade Fire, Editors etc all great but The Who blew the crowd away from start to finish. And what you don't quite appreciate here (and the reason for gripes about voice strength etc) is that it was absolutely belting out the speakers. Completely different to watching it on telly or PC like the complainers here.
I'm sick up of ageist presenters ignoring The Who when they talk about the highlights of Glastonbury.
The Who, like The Rolling Stones, are just simply awesome regardless of their age. It is their age which makes them awesome - they have 40 years experience. The young bands have no experience.
The Who's songs are brilliant due to the fact that Townshend is a genius.
the who who are half way through a tour so his voice is tough!, i saw them at the nia and his voice was better but that was the first night, fuckin best band that ever played but i think you cant hear the bass cuz townsend has control.
i was there! this was nothing sort of astonishing. and thanks for your 'review' waweldragon but to say Roger's voice is 'struggling' is complete crap its just aged just like him, i mean the guys 63 for gods sake! yeah they really did wipe the floor with all the young bands and show them how its done
I've followed the Who for 40 years and I'm afraid there's no denying that Roger's voice is struggling these days, although thankfully he did sing pretty well at Glastonbury. His voice has also got a lot deeper than the Who's heyday which is another age thing. But I remember Live8 and sadly his singing was not good on that occasion.
See above post! Rog is been singin' WHO songs since 1964! 'nuff said! At least he's out there, and playin' with the boy's! Besides this World Tour started in 2005!! He's not 32 he's 62!
it's true The WHO blow most bands off the stage. I saw them at Oxigen last year in Dublin. The Strokes were on first, i thought they were brutal & had no musicianship between the lot of them. The WHO came out loud, angry ,full of energy & put on a show like no band i've ever seen before, of ANY age.I was so proud to be a WHO fan that night, as I continue to be.
What a storming setlist as well - Pete and Roger were out to entertain and not out to sell 'wire and glass' spot on guys - reminded me of the '69 woodstock set....
lol. and we care about this stuff.. why? fucking mint performance! i agree maybe keith moon on drums entwhistle on bass would be perfect lineup/ but this is fucking class. so much energy!!!!!!!!!! still amazing!!!! and still showin the ickle bands how to friggin do it :D x
this is excellent from Pete, Rogers voice is struggling a bit compared to the old days. The drums are very polishged but lack Keith Moon's natural flair and flamboyance, but the weakest link is the bass guitar. Its hardly evident. Where Entwhistle's bass was a second lead instrument, this new bloke hides in the mix on this track
this is really amazing!

if they are this seminal in their 60s they must have been truly mindblowin in their heyday.
it started to piss down when they came on stage and never stopped even when we left the site the next day.
