  • my school mascot is the viking and this song is played at every rally. sadly, that's how most of the kids at school know of this song.

  • DevetDanaPrije

  • Me encanta esta canción!!!!!

  • How did anybody survive a Led Zeppelin concert?!?

  • I can't really see myself without Stairway to Heaven.

If it weren't for that one trip to Galveston, I wouldn't of never heard rock music.

  • Isn't Immigrant Song on HTWWW from Sydney Australia? o:

  • @RumbleFiish no, it's from Long Beach

    CF

  • LED ZEPPELIN¡¡¡ la otra mitad de mi corazon¡

  • all that suspense!!!!!

  • Damn this is some good hardcore shit. Thanks for posting, Conneyfogle. I'm just sorry I didn't get to see these guys live.

  • OH GOD THANK YOU!!!!

  • 200000% better than justin bieber thumbs up if you agree

  • WLL is probably the best version I"ve heard with Mary Lou and Minnesota Blues tucked fabuously in the middle....do you have this up? It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Conney!

  • And people says zeppelin sucks on stage LOL

Stones sucks on stage not zeppelin.

    Zeppelin>>Who,Purple...

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

    The Stones suck on stage??

Pull your head out of your ass!

  • @67goldtops Stones sucks, her offcial live is very overrated, without mick taylor, there are horrible.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

So what? WITH Mick Taylor, the were the best live band on the planet for 1/2 a decade.

  • @67goldtops WHAT A JOKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE LOL, you made my day srys...

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

Sorry, the REAL joke is you claiming Ritchie Blackmore is a better rhythm player than Jimmy Page. Now THAT is funny!

  • @67goldtops He Blackmore has a set rhythm much stronger than Page on stage, even a person who does not see the guitar, looks Higway Star, Strange Kind of Woman, Kill the king to name the best.

Can you cite songs like Ten years Gones, Achilles last stand as a reference in page, the problem is that you speak to someone who is very familiar with the boot of Led Zep, most of its performance is poor, some very good individual services but difficult to reproduce on stage anyway.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

Of course Page, after '73, was sloppy as a live player. I wouldn't argue otherwise. Let's talk in the studio. You think "Highway Star" is an example of RHYTHM playing?? Perhaps you need to learn the difference between SOLOS and CHORDS?? Too funny! "Kill the King" is great rhythm playing?? HAHA!! I'd take ANYTHING by the Ramones over that silly example. Here, I'll help you out...SRV=Great rhythm player. Steve Cropper=Great Rhythm player. Hendrix=Great Rhythm player. Blackmore=NOT!

  • @67goldtops You start to be more precise, but I'm sorry, to compare the songs that I just talk to the Ramones' songs, it's ridiculous, Blackmore was a very good rhythmically speaking, I know the difference, thank you

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

Oh, you know the difference between rhythm playing and soloing? Why did you list "Highway Star" as an example of Ritchie's RHYTHM PLAYING?? There are amazing licks, yet the only CHORDS I hear are played by John Lord. So, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

  • @67goldtops I speak only on stage, there is a rhythmic playing from Blackmore ...

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

"There is a rhythmic playing from Blackmore."

What does that mean? That doesn't make sense. You can't list ONE song by Blackmore where the framework of the song is Ritchie's CHORD playing??

  • @67goldtops Speed king ? Bloodscuker ? Burn ? You fool no one ? Mistread ? Lazy ?

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

Man, you just don't have a fucking clue. "LAZY" is a great rhythm guitar song? REALLY?? You clearly have no idea that there are SOLOS, where a player plays individual notes on individual strings. There are also CHORDS, in which the player fingers the chord shape and then STRUMS. Get it yet? "LAZY" is a GUITAR SOLO, inspired by Eric Clapton's "Stepping Out," which is also a guitar SOLO that Clapton recorded w/ John Mayall's Blues Breakers. Neither is an example of RHYTHM PLAYING.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

That Blackmore has good timing and phrasing (choice of notes & rhythm in which they're played) does NOT mean he's a good rhythm player. He's not. He doesn't play CHORDS. Would you like some specific examples guitar driven songs that feature solid rhythm playing? Joe Walsh on "Funk 49." Keith RIchards on "Can't You Hear Me Knocking." SRV on "Couldn't Stand the Weather." Townshend on "Young Man Blues." ANYTHING by Chuck Berry...THOSE are RHYTHM guitar songs. LAZY is not. Understand?

  • @67goldtops I was wrong, I thought to another, sorry, but my examples are consistent.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

Your examples are consistent. They are consistently NOT examples of rhythm guitar playing. End of story.

  • @67goldtops But you must be stoned to heroin to escape such a crap about the Stones, unbelievable, I can name you 10 groups that broke the Stones on stage in all registers, let's be serious, for pity's sake ...

  • Comment removed

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

Oh and please list your ten bands that "broke the Stones on stage" from '68-'73. I can't wait!

  • @67goldtops Led Zeppelin ? King Crimson ? Deep purple ? Moutain ? Ten Years After ? The who ? Yes ? Grateful Dead ? Blue Cheer ? Necromandus ? The Pink Fairies ? Wishbone Ash ?

    Come on...

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

Your silly list is as irretrievably inept as your command of English. The only bands from that list who could compare with the Stones at their peak are the Who and Zeppelin.

Wishbone Ash, LAUGH MY ASS OFF!

Do yourself a favor, Francois...Get your hands on some Stone's bootlegs from the '72-'73 tour and listen to the chemistry between Keith and Mick Taylor. Then you can tell me more about how Blackmore's solos on "Highway Star" equal great rhythm guitar! What priceless comedy!

  • @67goldtops

You never listened to the groups I mentioned, I quote groups of all kinds on stage because their goal is the same consistency and improvisation.

I listened to bootleg known and lesser known Stones, some are of excellent level, my favorite concert are those of the Australian tour at 73, but there is too much mastery, not enough to take risks musically to get to the wonders of improvisation

I am still awaiting your explanation of the level of Blackmore.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

More laughable assertions from Francois!! I "never listen to the groups" you mentioned??

HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU KNOW WHO I'VE LISTENED TO?

I've seen the Grateful Dead over sixty times. I've seen Yes over a dozen times. I've seen the Who over 20 times. I've seen Jimmy Page, in various forms, play live over 2 dozen times. I've seen Blackmore play live w/ Deep Purple when Joe Lynn Turner was in the band. I've seen Alvin Lee several times. I've seen the guys YOU can only read of.

  • @67goldtops And? This gives no credit to your arguments, I envy you for the concerts you've seen, but does not advance the discussion.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

My mentioning some of the bands I've seen was in direct response to YOUR comment. YOU started the discussion of which bands I've seen, when you erroneously PRESUMED to know which bands I've seen and which I haven't. YOU changed the discussion.

  • @67goldtops I was talking about the quality of the band on stage that I mentioned, that's all, unless I drugs · .. ·

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

    "That's all, unless I drugs"

That post makes sense to you?

I'm beginning to think you ARE on drugs.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

    You're boring. I'm out.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

Please direct my to the live Necromandus and the live Pink Fairies albums that can compare to the Stones's GET YOUR YA-YAS OUT.

    Simple enough??

  • @67goldtops Ok, i found some link for bootleg my friend !

Sorry for the challenge is to see if I talk to a kikoolol or a guy who really knows ^. ^

    How old are you ?

  • whyd page always have his shirt open

  • I have just disslocated my neck from rocking out to this song. Thank you.

  • louie louie is my favorite here

    Mr. John Paul Jones!!!

  • time does not exist, watches do! I was there even if i was not born!

  • When did Rock get "smaller"? Not just Zepplin, but all bands back then were bigger than life. Stadiums filled with 85K+ people for weeks on end. And they looked bigger, played bigger, and just basically "lived" bigger. Now all we got pretty boy "pop stars" doing mall gigs for tween girls. WTF, bring the real rock back. The rock of Immigrant Song, the rock of Black Dog, the rock that millions of people, old & young, even decades later still acknowledge as epic. The rock that MEANT something.

  • @starstarstar42 I miss it too, but keep in mind, back then bands had to tour to make money and they spent a good 7 months a year on the road. I also attribute that to why the older bands always stuck around longer without breaking up after 1.7 years to "pursue each owns interests"........... I've also seen comments (not from you) that the bands from this era weren't good live performers.....i call shenanagins on that scheise. Some of these kids can't fathom a band touring on an old yellow bus

  • @starstarstar42 i agree. Metal is soft now...and smaller

  • @starstarstar42 I have been listening Rock music for over 30 years! and I totally agree with your opinion!

  • for ever zeppelin!

  • Thanks for all the great Led Zep stuff you post !

  • yay:)

  • @brandontylerkaiser

    hi. glad you are happy.

please leave a comment for John who is away for a while.

    thanks.

    francesca

  • where is he?

  • @Conneyfogle

    Dear Francesca

this powerfull band of name Led Zeppelin is one of greatest ever to year 2011.

    //I'ohhhh Thanks.

  • Could you upload Tangerine from this show?? I've never heard it before and am curious why Page left it off of the official release. Thanks.

  • It's up now for you

  • Thank you! Just finished listening to it. Very nice. It's a shame Page is such a perfectionist that he can't release this. It's a beautiful version, sounds like maybe Bonham is joining Plant on the chorus. Whatever, maybe one day the vaults will be opened for all to hear.

  • Indeed. I personally love Robert's singing here. Probably not perfect in a technical sense but his voice has such a haunting quality. And his varying intonation makes the original recording far more interesting (at least to my ears) than the "fixed" pendant on How....

But then the overall sound quality of the official release is just superb. So in the end we have to congratulate Page for his perfectionism.

PS: Though I have to say that the 'Tangerine' rendition isn't quite up to earlier ones.

  • Not Vikings.. The Songs lyrics are inspired by "The Silmarillion" By JRR Tolkein.

  • @EveryHumanBeing no it's not true. In "The Silmarillion" and also in all Tolkien's books there is no valhalla.

According to Robert Plant, this song was born after a trip in Reykjavik (hint Wikipedia) XD

  • vikings!

  • listen Jaguares from Mexico, is very good

  • You were not there.Just leave it alone....It was that good

  • where did the first 20 seconds come from?

  • Can't say for sure, but having heard them, there often was feedback on amps before they played...

    This is an educated guess.

    francesca

    @Conneyfogle

  • @Conneyfogle LA Drone

  • @Conneyfogle LA Drone is the name of the lead in to Immigrant Song see Wikipedia for more

  • @Grubbsy its called L A Drone and they played it before the immigrant song to build excitement and its jimmy playing an acoustic guitar with a violin bow with various sounds layered in

  • @ledzeppelin979

    :p... spaghettios... :p

  • amazing.. 5*!!!

  • A bit rough but I would imagine it was a killer concert. I saw them later, in 73 and 75, and they didn't do rough then.

  • wuts up with the beginning

  • aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!..., q grupo.., q rolon., x q no me tocaron esos tiempos en donde si habia talento....,

  • Plants voice is so great ! on this

  • if you liek blues check out ym videos for some dope blues solos and jams !!!

  • when the west was won

    an amazing album

  • agreed, but this isnt from that album

  • right but la drome was created for the tour

  • @Conneyfogle I thought so. The L.A Drone is too long, and the recordings for "How the West was Won" was made July 27, 1972 at the Long Beach Arena in California right?

  • How the west was won"

  • Hoho.. Hell yeah, classic.

  • nice spelling, i'm pretty sure they want everyone on here to be 12 and up but it's fine by me if young people are on youtube.

  • Im speechless. Imagine the tension and suspense just before that 1 2 3 4!!!!!!!!!! from Bonzo then all hell breaks loose. Breathtaking.

  • Well said

  • you cant beat led zeppelin =)

  • epic

  • Another good one for a good powerful drum sound from Bonzo on this tune is the Houston '71 show. Not sure what month, but the decibels put out by his drumming on that one pretty much overpowers Page's guitar.

  • Bonham's drums don't sound so muddy on this as they do the 'cleaned' up version on HTWW

  • This is really heavy. Pagey must have done a lot of editing for How the West Was Won. But I do like the official live version better because it sounds perfect. Its kinda nice to hear the actual raw concert though.

  • wow, bob's your uncle!!!!!! this is magnificent.

  • I was only 10....When the 4 loves of my life did this concert....xoxoxoxo

  • Don't know you, like you allready.

  • Yeah, this sounds way better than on How the West Was Won. I love L.A. Drone. It should've been this long on How the West Was Won. I'm in the process of creating my own droning sound.

Go Page & Jonesy playing acoustic guitars with violin bows in F# and layering the sounds!!!!

  • Wow this sounds great, it sounds way more powerful than the HTWW version even though this is it lol
