  • has anyone ever had this experience? when you blink one eye and you feel like you have to blink the other, or you step on something while walking and feel like you have to step on it with your left too. Anyone know what i'm talking about?

  • @TheShadowThug That's a pressure thing. It's commonly associated with Aspergers/Autism.

  • @TheShadowThug I would like to clarify EasilyDistLookabirdy's answer and say this is more a display of a mild compulsive behavior. It is frequent in children (eg not stepping on sidewalk cracks or stepping on each one). People diagnosed with Asperger's often do display some compulsive behavior, but one does not automatically link the other and vice-versa.

  • one more thing. this could be more of ocd or something of the sort, but when i'm paying attention to the thing I do with my arm, i get physically agitated; it's almost as though it gets made worse. I get the same physical agitation when I'm watching shows like The OCD Project and people with OCD carry out their compulsions. Does this happen to you? When you notice &/or pay attention to your tics do you find them getting worse?

  • Thank you for making this video. All of your videos are very informative and helpful.

Since I was a child I've had what I'm now wondering is a tic. I will move my arm (more often I do this with my right arm than my left) up and out as if to "fix" something that's bothering my armpit. Nothing is physically pestering my armpit. When I first started doing it I thought it might have been physical, then I realized it's more psychological. Is it a tic? I don't think about it when I do it.

  • OH! I think my son have tics. He's 9, he makes that nose twitch facial and he often makes uh-uh sound. WIll it go away?

  • I have the facial and head/neck tics and I blink all the time. :(

  • I got head tics .. what should I do ?

  • Thanks! Just what I needed.

  • My tics started when I was 7 so....

  • I thought I just had motor tics, but I realized I have vocal tics too.. What does that mean ?

  • I am recently jerking my shoulder continuously, about 10 times a min most of the day. It is worse when i am stressed. is this a tic, and can they start in your 30's?

  • i got question :s

my friend since i met him over like a year he now is twitchin and making really weird noises aswell like screams wen he moves and he always does the head and neck one not so much arms. is this because he started smoking weed this year, canweed evendo that to someone:S im gettin well paranoid can u heelllpp nee ideas or anything ??? X

  • Are those yours?

  • if a body part, like your neck is tired, then you twitch back your head or something, does that count as a tic?

  • I have "facial tics" but I was never diagnosed with tourettes or anything... but I still have these, everyday, and it bothers me and makes me feel embarrassed. Also my head shakes at times, for example when I'm in a lesson at school, and looking at the book on my desk my head starts shaking. It's usually when I lower my head to look down on something. These really kind of bother me...

  • Thank you for posting this, I have had tics all of my life, but I've never recognized them until this point, I am 23 years old. Who would I see to get this examined? A Neurologist?

  • nice dance moves

  • i have motor tics but i dint know if i am suffering with tic disorder or tourette syndrome. is it possible that i have tourette syndrome because i experienced motor tics all the time? how can i resist it?

  • I M Having Head Jerking Any way To Stop It? Please Help Me

  • LISTEN UP! IF YOU HAVE THIS SYNDROME AND WANT IT TO STOP JUST LISTEN TO ME. I use to have tourette's, guess how I got over? Just guess...Okay well the secret is... JUST DONT FUCKING DO IT! Force yourself to not do it and guess what...your not gunna fucking die or whatever your ritual is your doing it for. Nothing bad is gunna happen if you stop. So just look at yourself an say " this is fucking stupid why am I doing this?" and you will eventually just stop.

  • @trumbulites few years ago i did some moves with my eyes and after a while i stoped and got tics and i cant help it now

  • @trumbulites no it dosent works, u cant help it, u cant feel it when u do tics, i cant, someone has to tell me that im doing it

  • Comment removed

  • i just posted a vid of my tic, sometimes it is powerfull enough to feel like it is pulling my spine apart and actually pops my neck---ugh!

  • I feel like I have to move, like something inside of me tells me too like a bunch of energy inside of me tells me too. when I was really little I had facial tics, now that I'm 16 I have to jerk my whole body, but I can make it to where i clap really fast. Is that symptoms of tourettes?? please answer :(

  • immski your tic is called "being fuckin retarded" You wank

  • got alot of movement on my neck, but i think its because i have bad neck pain

  • @CABOOSE35 could be vice versa...I have bad neck pain because of my neck movements.

  • i think the kid has no problem. the video was recorded with radiotor from bedroom

  • @immski: That's not a tic, that's stupidity.

  • @Tictionary get over yourself.

  • @Tictionary how do i thumbs up your comment haha

  • @Tictionary

Nah, laughing at something isnt stupidity...

You'll know it when for being different you'll get beaten up physically.

    For being different than others...

Anyhow your own comment was rude, and shows signs of mental violence!

so what if somebody perceives you as comical being... fun is what people want if your mere presence grants it. it's already a gift. :D

  • @immski thats just rude :(

  • my friend kyle has a tic that were his head jerks . but its preety hot cuz he has long hair and his hair goes aall woosh

  • I have one where i make a noise

    so annoyyyyying =(

  • I have a very small in my neck, even though almost niguem realize ...

  • My friend Aubrey has the tourette syndrome and we both are in Grade six. I feel terriblely bad for her, she has the neck tic and makes tics from her mouth. I hate when people make fun of her, it's not funny.

  • @SuperVictoriaTV

    Of course it is funny

  • i have a tic similar to the first one but i bite my cheek

  • I've noticed a few years back that I have motor tics. I have a head/neck tic where my head rotates and my neck tenses and I make a noise.... and it happens more often with certain moods. Is that normal [in the terms of the condition of coarse]?

  • 0:58. I have that one right now! (not sure if it's a tic or compulsion though....)

  • really hard to see anything quite frankly

    thanks though

  • Some tics are quite subtle and feel more dramatic to the twitcher than they appear to everyone else. I've had facial tics since I was nine but when I mentioned them to my best friend recently he said he never really noticed them which just seemed odd.

  • thank u 4 clearing it up :)

I have a quistion. Does motor tics gets worse by time?

  • @Sawsoonah: They can do. But I think they're more likely to get better. They also get a bit worse and a bit better in a sort of cycle. This is called waxing and waning. So one month they might be bad, then next not bad at all and then they might get bad again. But overall they tend to get better.

  • thank u so much 4 taking time & answering my quistion.

I discovered latley that I suffer motor tics.

I have one more quistion does blinking consider as facial tics?

  • Blinking that is abnormal might be a tic or it might be caused by another condition.

  • thank u :)

  • i have it too

  • @Sawsoonah I have been diagnosed with motor tics at the age of 14.. When i was in high school it was very bad.. My arms would tic along with my feet and head.. Now nearing the age of 20 it has definitely gotten better... Now i simply do a quick head shake.. That makes it look like i'm shaking my head and saying no..

  • I've had a facial, head, and neck tic since I was 4. The medication to reduce, not cure, the effects tastes like vinegar and coconut, yuk. A tic does not happen automatically, it's an urge. Like a mosquito bite. You can not scratch it but you just have to. If you don't do the tic there is no pain or itching, but it feel so uncomfortable it's indescribable.

  • finaly! someone who understands what its like for us people with this! if i could i would thumbs up u!

  • I've been making similar tics in my shoulders, and my family doesn't know what it is. Good video, thanks :]

  • I've had similar symptoms my entire life and it's annoying. People think you're crazy or somthing when you can't control it.

  • here here

  • @JeevesReturns I know what you mean. they all tell me "can you control it in front of this person atleast" and I'm like "I can't control it for myself how can I control it for anyone else?" lol

  • according to researches, if it's not a chronic tic, the symptom will disappear if it's cared for. However, it would get worse if the person is under stress or being teased. so the next u see a person with tics, do not pick on him, he's already having a hard time. I used to have it when i was young, and my mom didn't understand it, she thought it's my bad habit of jerking my eyes and stuffs. And it's normal for children to have it, so do not be obsessed with it

  • A guy in my class has tics, I don't know if it's normal tics or, you know, the worser tics. He is always moving his head, and his eyes spinns around, and also his hands have some spasm. He also does noises, but not much. Is this normal tics or the 'worser' tics?

  • You are so adorable. ^^

  • If my head jerks to the left once without me even thinking about it, is that a tic?

  • yup thats a tic

  • I have a major case of Tourettes myself. I have been diagnosed for only about a year but must have between 30-40 tics. I have tics in my arms, head, neck, legs, abs, feet, hands... Pretty much any part of my body can get a nervous reaction to it that involves ticking. Well, not all, that's sort of an exaggeration.

I also have tics in my eyes which are more than just blinking weirdly. I also close my right eye when looking at certain things to my right. And I look over my shoulder a lot.

  • does shaking in a time of stress a "tic"

  • Do you mean when you're scared or very nervous? If so, then no that is not a tic.

  • um ok I guess thats a good thig

  • I shake my head, and twitch my nose and sniff alot. before this i used to blink and do a click with my throat. do i have a syndrome?

  • Quiet possibly. I would recommend telling a neurologist/ your physician.

  • thanks for the reply but this week ive seen a miracle, it seems to have completely stopped, i think im growing out of it

  • cool!

  • No. You just wanna have fun. =]

  • @Tictionary tics are exaggerated by emotional strain or stress

  • @Tictionary I got motor tics I am stressed

  • @Tictionary I got motor tics I am stressed I also got funny shakings and blinkings

  • i think its bad quality i can hardly see, thats something change, except the text

  • Thank you, for that video ,its really helpful ,i am medical student and i was tring to differentiate 4 different type of tics and ur video helped me alot. good luck.

    thnx once again.

  • i'm blinking hard with my bouth eyes often.... it makes me soo anooyed and it's emberesing

  • What is the purpose of this video?

  • To educate people on what motor tics may look like.

Reasons include but are not necessarily limited to:

    - someone may have been experiencing something similar and want to find out about tics and Tourette syndrome to see if it is what they have

    - curiosity

    - to show that not all cases of Tourette syndrome include coprolalia (involuntary swearing) or copropraxia (involuntary obscene gestures)

  • Interesting... Have there ever been any other known cases (besides mine) where tourette's syndrome is extremely minor?

  • Yes, and that includes me :)

  • Hmmmm... Well... I guess what I'm trying to figure out is whether I have tourette's syndrome or not... But I think I may have it...

  • I persoanlly have had minor Tourettes syndrome most of my young life. My tic was that the right half of my face would scrunch up. It deafinately made my high school social life interesting. I've learned to live with it and it seems if I just ignore it, it almost completely vanishes.

  • Really? Wow... My tic is that my legs occassionally jump up when I'm sitting (sometimes standing) and my head cocks to my right shoulder in one quick movement... And I purse my lips, like... roll them into my mouth, but only for a split second... My tics happen only three times a day, and their usually outrageously small!! :D

  • i have facial motor tics

    they really annoy me

    its mostly blinking though

  • Hello :) I have sent a reply to your message. I hope it is of at least some use to you. You did not mention the numbness though. That is worrying :S You must return for more tests and medical help.

  • i had that arm tic when i was younger. sometimes i would just kind of do it slowly to hide it lol.

  • I'm really glad :) Thanks for taking time to post a comment :)

  • Povero questo bimbo... ha molti tic..... Ma come fa????

  • Grazie per il vostro commento, ma non credo di capire.

  • This chils has many tic...how do???

  • I'm really sorry, but that does not make sense :(

  • Sono veramente dispiaciuto, ma che non ha senso :(

  • il bambino ha tourettes

  • No, non l'ho Tourettes. Non ho figli.

No, I have Tourettes. I don't have any children.

  • shame about the video quality...it was sorta hard to see the tics as clearly...but thank you anyway! I spent pretty much an hour looking for a video on tourette tics which wasn't a fake video!

  • It's really hard to find genuine videos, and with some videos it's still not clear whether they're genuine or not.

  • Oh and sorry about the quality - that's YouTube recompressing my compression :(

  • HEY GRET VID, WATCH MINE TS!

  • I just recently started having tics. nothing that bad, just a few head and neck tics. Sometimes it gets really out of hand and i end up hurting myself

  • finally i found someone with the same prob i have, mine get so out of control that my neck and head start to hurt really bad

  • i do the facial tic i do a kneeling tick where i bend down i say riaout loud somtimes for tics:@ i hate them everyone calls me ticker

  • when i was young i had that head tic and i did it all the time. i remember it really started to annoy my mum! i only get it sometimes now, but i mostly get shoulder tics.

  • can my sister have tourettes if it is not common in my family's history?

  • Yes she can. It's fairly herieditary but there doesn't have to be a history of it.

Having said that though, it may be in your family without you realising it - I didn't think it was in my family (although I always felt that it would be on my mother's side if it was) but I went to a family party recently and I noticed that one of my mum's cousins has minor facial tics (with her eyes/eyebrows). It might not be enough to be Tourette's, but I don't know what other tics she might be hiding! :)

  • Sorry, I mistyped hereditary :)

  • thx i was kinda worried cause my dad was like it doesnt run in our family and my sis, didnt know what was going on with her body, i mean to me she kinda has facial and shoulder tics but thts it. i just have like arm tics and neck and stuff like tht, thx so much:]]

  • have you tried acupuncture?

  • No I haven't. That's one thing I don't want to try though, but thanks :)

  • The shoulder ones... I currently have a very similar tic, which actually evolved from a "justified" compulsion: about 5 years ago I decided I had to look over my shoulder all the time to see if anyone was coming.. sorta like a paranoia. from there, it evolved from a compulsion to an unjustified urge, to look back and jerk my shoulders. From there it evolved into a tic involving turning my head sideways, throwing my shoulder up and back until i feel my shoulder bones grind, then flexing my neck.

  • A few of my tics evolved from compulsions too - like some of the mental and head-shaking tics.
