has anyone ever had this experience? when you blink one eye and you feel like you have to blink the other, or you step on something while walking and feel like you have to step on it with your left too. Anyone know what i'm talking about?
@TheShadowThug omfg me m8t. its like if you scratch one arm you have an urge to scratch the other and you feel uncomfortable until you do ECT, theres loads more. i thought that i was the only one who does this lol. what is it?
@TheShadowThug I would like to clarify EasilyDistLookabirdy's answer and say this is more a display of a mild compulsive behavior. It is frequent in children (eg not stepping on sidewalk cracks or stepping on each one). People diagnosed with Asperger's often do display some compulsive behavior, but one does not automatically link the other and vice-versa.
one more thing. this could be more of ocd or something of the sort, but when i'm paying attention to the thing I do with my arm, i get physically agitated; it's almost as though it gets made worse. I get the same physical agitation when I'm watching shows like The OCD Project and people with OCD carry out their compulsions. Does this happen to you? When you notice &/or pay attention to your tics do you find them getting worse?
Thank you for making this video. All of your videos are very informative and helpful.
Since I was a child I've had what I'm now wondering is a tic. I will move my arm (more often I do this with my right arm than my left) up and out as if to "fix" something that's bothering my armpit. Nothing is physically pestering my armpit. When I first started doing it I thought it might have been physical, then I realized it's more psychological. Is it a tic? I don't think about it when I do it.
I am recently jerking my shoulder continuously, about 10 times a min most of the day. It is worse when i am stressed. is this a tic, and can they start in your 30's?
my friend since i met him over like a year he now is twitchin and making really weird noises aswell like screams wen he moves and he always does the head and neck one not so much arms. is this because he started smoking weed this year, canweed evendo that to someone:S im gettin well paranoid can u heelllpp nee ideas or anything ??? X
I have "facial tics" but I was never diagnosed with tourettes or anything... but I still have these, everyday, and it bothers me and makes me feel embarrassed. Also my head shakes at times, for example when I'm in a lesson at school, and looking at the book on my desk my head starts shaking. It's usually when I lower my head to look down on something. These really kind of bother me...
Thank you for posting this, I have had tics all of my life, but I've never recognized them until this point, I am 23 years old. Who would I see to get this examined? A Neurologist?
i have motor tics but i dint know if i am suffering with tic disorder or tourette syndrome. is it possible that i have tourette syndrome because i experienced motor tics all the time? how can i resist it?
LISTEN UP! IF YOU HAVE THIS SYNDROME AND WANT IT TO STOP JUST LISTEN TO ME. I use to have tourette's, guess how I got over? Just guess...Okay well the secret is... JUST DONT FUCKING DO IT! Force yourself to not do it and guess what...your not gunna fucking die or whatever your ritual is your doing it for. Nothing bad is gunna happen if you stop. So just look at yourself an say " this is fucking stupid why am I doing this?" and you will eventually just stop.
I feel like I have to move, like something inside of me tells me too like a bunch of energy inside of me tells me too. when I was really little I had facial tics, now that I'm 16 I have to jerk my whole body, but I can make it to where i clap really fast. Is that symptoms of tourettes?? please answer :(
1.take ur middle finger and put on ur nose.2.say a name of someone u like.3.that person will ask u out or say they love u tomarrow.4. heres the thing copy and paste to 2 other vids its tru i tryed it yesterday and it worked.
My friend Aubrey has the tourette syndrome and we both are in Grade six. I feel terriblely bad for her, she has the neck tic and makes tics from her mouth. I hate when people make fun of her, it's not funny.
I've noticed a few years back that I have motor tics. I have a head/neck tic where my head rotates and my neck tenses and I make a noise.... and it happens more often with certain moods. Is that normal [in the terms of the condition of coarse]?
Some tics are quite subtle and feel more dramatic to the twitcher than they appear to everyone else. I've had facial tics since I was nine but when I mentioned them to my best friend recently he said he never really noticed them which just seemed odd.
@Sawsoonah: They can do. But I think they're more likely to get better. They also get a bit worse and a bit better in a sort of cycle. This is called waxing and waning. So one month they might be bad, then next not bad at all and then they might get bad again. But overall they tend to get better.
@Sawsoonah I have been diagnosed with motor tics at the age of 14.. When i was in high school it was very bad.. My arms would tic along with my feet and head.. Now nearing the age of 20 it has definitely gotten better... Now i simply do a quick head shake.. That makes it look like i'm shaking my head and saying no..
I've had a facial, head, and neck tic since I was 4. The medication to reduce, not cure, the effects tastes like vinegar and coconut, yuk. A tic does not happen automatically, it's an urge. Like a mosquito bite. You can not scratch it but you just have to. If you don't do the tic there is no pain or itching, but it feel so uncomfortable it's indescribable.
@JeevesReturns I know what you mean. they all tell me "can you control it in front of this person atleast" and I'm like "I can't control it for myself how can I control it for anyone else?" lol
according to researches, if it's not a chronic tic, the symptom will disappear if it's cared for. However, it would get worse if the person is under stress or being teased. so the next u see a person with tics, do not pick on him, he's already having a hard time. I used to have it when i was young, and my mom didn't understand it, she thought it's my bad habit of jerking my eyes and stuffs. And it's normal for children to have it, so do not be obsessed with it
A guy in my class has tics, I don't know if it's normal tics or, you know, the worser tics. He is always moving his head, and his eyes spinns around, and also his hands have some spasm. He also does noises, but not much. Is this normal tics or the 'worser' tics?
I have a major case of Tourettes myself. I have been diagnosed for only about a year but must have between 30-40 tics. I have tics in my arms, head, neck, legs, abs, feet, hands... Pretty much any part of my body can get a nervous reaction to it that involves ticking. Well, not all, that's sort of an exaggeration.
I also have tics in my eyes which are more than just blinking weirdly. I also close my right eye when looking at certain things to my right. And I look over my shoulder a lot.
Thank you, for that video ,its really helpful ,i am medical student and i was tring to differentiate 4 different type of tics and ur video helped me alot. good luck.
I persoanlly have had minor Tourettes syndrome most of my young life. My tic was that the right half of my face would scrunch up. It deafinately made my high school social life interesting. I've learned to live with it and it seems if I just ignore it, it almost completely vanishes.
Really? Wow... My tic is that my legs occassionally jump up when I'm sitting (sometimes standing) and my head cocks to my right shoulder in one quick movement... And I purse my lips, like... roll them into my mouth, but only for a split second... My tics happen only three times a day, and their usually outrageously small!! :D
Hello :) I have sent a reply to your message. I hope it is of at least some use to you. You did not mention the numbness though. That is worrying :S You must return for more tests and medical help.
shame about the video quality...it was sorta hard to see the tics as clearly...but thank you anyway! I spent pretty much an hour looking for a video on tourette tics which wasn't a fake video!

ResentfulButtocks 3 years ago
To educate people on what motor tics may look like.
Reasons include but are not necessarily limited to:
- someone may have been experiencing something similar and want to find out about tics and Tourette syndrome to see if it is what they have
- curiosity
- to show that not all cases of Tourette syndrome include coprolalia (involuntary swearing) or copropraxia (involuntary obscene gestures)

The shoulder ones... I currently have a very similar tic, which actually evolved from a "justified" compulsion: about 5 years ago I decided I had to look over my shoulder all the time to see if anyone was coming.. sorta like a paranoia. from there, it evolved from a compulsion to an unjustified urge, to look back and jerk my shoulders. From there it evolved into a tic involving turning my head sideways, throwing my shoulder up and back until i feel my shoulder bones grind, then flexing my neck.
colonel720 3 years ago
A few of my tics evolved from compulsions too - like some of the mental and head-shaking tics.
