I was thinking about doing this as a fairly cheap way to get a more aggressive exhasut. But if you have a problem with the loudness eliminate the middle muffler and get two performance mufflers at the rear to quiet it down. I don't think anyone would notice one of the mufflers missing when you already have two.
in pennsylvania, the law states that if your car/ truck came from the factory with a cat and/or muffler, you must have one present to have it inspected. stupid, i know. but what can you do?
your car doesn't have to have mufflers to be road legal. It just can't be so loud from so far away which varies on state I think. Some cars come from the factory with no mufflers.
@GIJoe42 As long as the catalytic converters are in place and you have solid piping from that point back, you should be good to go, provided the exhaust noise is within reason. In many cases the cats by themselves muffle much of the exhaust note. Please note that many modern engines require a certain amount of back pressure to perform properly, so use extreme caution when deleting exhaust components.
by going straight pipe like that, did you notice any performance gain or loss? just wondering bc im thinking about getting a Mustang GT or something, then decided i dont need that much performance, and feel like saving some money and going with the 300 special...now that sounded great, but if you could feel a loss in performance i wouldnt want to do it..any change?
yea i hav regular 300m...silver.. same question as killtoskate..i already hav a guy that can do my exhaust for bout 300 bucs..just dont know exactly what u did to urs...need advice
you'll probably have just one muffler near the rear, and one larger one before it. Remove the final one on the exhaust...and straight pipe. That is all. Should cost around $50
Id hate to have that sucker removed, and have it sound like the cars blowing up. The last thing I need is a rice sound. Id love the sound you get. What do you think?
can you do the same thing with the regular 300m?

People don't know what they're talking about. As I said before, some cars come from the factory without them. (srt-4)

@mikemikemikexxxx The Dodge Neon SRT-4 features a "mufflerless" exhaust.

Hey man, do you know if this can be done with a regular 300M?
Id like to get this done, about how much does it run? Do I just go to a local shop and ask them to remove my muffler and straight pipe me?
Thanks!
