  • ugh he is adorable :3

  • I can't believe the waitress/people/ whoever didn't notice home. Well he's in NYC so I guess doctor who is mostly in London but I watch it!!! Weird......

  • errm mate eating a deep fried hotdog for first time... so uv never hat a battered sausage from the chip shop ARE YOU EVEN ENGLISH?!

  • @SmithySDMF

    Hotdogs aren't proper sausages though!

  • @bluemoonrising26 I know they're crap sausages so he's had a better version of the deep fried hotdog! why bother?!

  • It looked like he was getting sick while eating the deep fried hot dog. Hope he had fun while in NY City.

  • in britain, small children, politicians and tv producers are fascinated by the glossy superficial aspects of the US. TV producers are on an immense US wank. They peddle "isn't the US great" proven by lots of pop culture drivel. Never anything of any depth. It's like a shameless propaganda fest.

There's a whole world out there, but britain gets a never ending stream of fawning froth about the US.

(No offence to anyone in the US. This is about shallow TV producers, not the US.)

  • I would totally watch Arthur vs. Food if that was a regular show lol

the BBC should seriously do something about that.

  • @SpecialAgentRavage It might be a short show. He doesn't look like he eats much :)

  • The only thing that would have made this video better is if that was Cash Cab. that would've be AWESOME!!!

  • I'd watch Arthur vs. Food. Make that happen BBC

  • yes Arthur, don't ever let my sasuage down!

  • Arthur u can eat my dog anytime

  • man... i wanna try that pizza... looks awesome... and its a big slice!

  • I have no qualm with watching that man eat food all day long.

  • That's an enormous piece of pizza...

  • I'm pretty sure he was tearing up when he ate that hot dog.

  • The worst part is, I would totally watch a show called "Arthur vs. Food."

  • Haha I always smell the box when I pick up my pizza. I can feel his excitement!

  • He's adorable!!!

  • This video just made sure that I probably won't go to Artichoke unless I really am willing to pay more than a subway fare for a slice of pizza. I mean, it's probably REALLY REALLY GOOD, but that's just far too expensive for my tastes. But because Rory was there, I'll probably wind up there at some point soon!

  • That one slice of pizza is as big as his head,

It makes are British pizza look crap! ;)

  • @lamokid1 me to!!

  • @Andrea90723 Whaaat!? British food is AMAZING! Half of your American food is all fast food and microwavable junk :D

  • @wellaUK if you stay away from mcdonalds (etc...) and walmart, it's great food in the USA (and Canada, since they seem to eat pretty much the same thing)

  • I live in America, so:

I am going to find those restaurants,

and I will order the same things.

and I will be extremely happy for the fact I was in a place where Arthur Darville was.

    HECK YEAH!

  • @DoctorAndRiver Artichoke is at 14th street between first avenue and second avenue. Criffs is at 113 St. Marks Place

  • @DoctorAndRiver I'll go with... 'cept I live in Vegas so it'll take me longer to get there...

  • @140JOJO haha all I have to do now is get some money to go there... haha

  • ARTHUR!!! if you want a real new york hot dog, go to a street vendor

  • @thedoctorlovescats thats exactly what i was thinking! ive lived in new york all of my life and know that you cant go wrong with a street vender!!!!!!

  • "There's a giant sausage above my head that says 'eat me'. I'm not gonna let it down." That's what she said.

  • YUM! CRIF'S!!! Such a cool place. Only been there once, unfortunately

  • N'aww, I always worry about Arthur because he looks so moody and unhappy in candid pictures, but watching this he sounds so happy. I'm slightly less worried now. x3

  • Arthur Darvill is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my entire life!

  • I call bull. Patsy's has the best pizza.

  • 1:00 shes a cutey

  • Im not surprised about a Deep Fried hot dog. It's the Amurican way.

  • THE ARTICHOKE PIZZA AT ARTICHOKE IS SOO DAMN GOOD

  • "They should call this 'Arthur vs Food'" :L

  • Best pizza in New York...dude, that's what EVERYONE SAYS. HAVE YOU NOT SEEN ELF?

  • Are all pizza's in America that big? XD because I've always said pizza in American movies looks huge.

  • @maricimo It really depends on where you go, really. Different places have different styles of pizza. In New York they tend to be bigger and thinner because a lot of people fold the piece in half before eating them. So its not actually quite as much food as it looks like.

  • @RoseCairine Ah. Fair enough, I guess. I dunno. I live in Australia, and I'm not a huge fan of pizza really (although I do love pizza with a puff pastry base...) But it always looks ten times more appetizing in American movies.

  • He is always so cute while doing anything

  • That is a huge pizza slice O.O

  • can i marry you ?

  • HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOt D:!!!!

  • I would watch this if it was a full 1/2 show that aired once a week xD

  • OMG, My school is like 3 blocks from the place he is at the beginning of the video, with the "love mother earth" slogan!!

  • FUCKING ARTHUR DARVILL KICKS FUCKING ASS!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU ARTHUR!!!!!!!!

  • 0.46 there a giant sausage above my head, haha thats what she said :P and what he says after makes it sound worse -~-

  • who would let down a hot dog sign that says eat me... NO-ONE!

  • @TheMeerkatSquirrel Vegetarians

  • First New York this, first New York that, we don't ONLY eat pizza and hot dogs XDD

  • is it just me or is it a little disturbing that he has a david tennant haircut, but without the sideburns

  • @coatduck Lol, your right!

  • although he really should have gotten a dirty water hot dog (= hot dog from a street vendor). idk what kind of place in ny sells hot dogs not from a cart and expects them to even come close...

  • Arthur vs. food... I would watch that faithfully every day

  • no fence, but I like Rory`s wardobe better!

  • one of the guys in the pizza parlor look like Kevin Rowland...

  • Arthur, We're AMERICAN. We can deep fry ANYTHING. Seriously... I have tasted deep fried marshmallow peeps covered in chocolate with sprinkles, deep fried KOOL AID, deep fried ice cream, and deep fried oreos. Deep frying hot dogs is child's play.

  • His hair. Yum.

  • Arthur! Eat Me! Don't let me down!

  • FUCK, i'm at artichoke all the time... goddamnit. (and where's the line? LOL they caught it at the one time where there's NO line?! craziness. this must have been at like 5am)

  • Arthur versus food, that is a great idea for a tv show. Now get him up to Duff Goldman for cake. YUMMY, (food and Arthur!)

  • Next time, let a real New Yorker show you around Arthur. You don't get a specialty pizza your first time having NY pizza, nor do you go to a shop for hot dogs.

  • Since he didn't know deep-fried hot dogs existed, he needs a deep-fried Twinkie.

  • Crif Dogs! There's an actual speakeasy behind this restaurant. Too bad he didn't visit the phone booth.

  • I SAW HIM 2DAY!!!! xx <3

  • that pizza looks awesome..

  • ;) love!!

  • @CagayakeGirl how on earth can you deep-fry a liquid??

  • @qsnapflash hey, u can deep fry ice cream. anythings possible. essentially the stuff is coated with a layer of batter and fried really quickly. beer is essentially the same. put it in batter and fry it for a few seconds and you have deep fried beer

  • P-P-P-PIZZA

  • This is America, everything is deep fried. Apparently in Texas they have deep fried oreos and Coke.

  • @chocolateislove They also have deep fried snickers, beer, Twinkies and butter according to my relatives. Texas is an odd place 0_0

  • leave it to Americans to make deep fry hot-dogs BTW SHOOT AN EPISODE IN CANADA TORONTO AND I WANNA BE AN EXTRA.

  • Arthur vs. Food, so digging it!

  • he is adorable :D and good style too!

  • iLOVE Arthur's accent!

I SOO want to hear more of it!! ;)

    Your sooo AWESSOME!!!!!!! :P hehe

  • Oh Arthur :D u and your... Arthur-ness

  • go to a vender duh and wrong type of pizza

  • how big is that slice of pizza

  • oh god. the girl in the hot dog place looks like ellen page!

  • The Nose approves :)

  • his eyes are almost watering when he eats that hotdog. must be potent.

  • I like his hair better on the show.

Ha ha that hot dog lady looked so bored. Doesn't she know she's talking to Rory!

The pizza looked as big as him.

  • I want that pizza!

  • He looks a tad frightened by the deep-fried hot dog when he mentions it

  • Arthur is eating in my 'hood! So much love for this video.

  • Wonder if they let him into the secret room in Crif's. Entering through a phone box would have been a fun treat to experience after the Tardis. Run a search on "CRIFS hotdogs SECRET NYC" will get hits about the back room speakeasy etc.

  • I'm just over here giggling like a fool.

That's what Arthur Darvill does to me.

  • Arthur, everything is deep fried in America :P

  • Giant hot dog saying "eat me" - pardon me while I giggle like a loon and think not-so-pure thoughts, Arthur...

  • Well im glad that you had fun in New York, one thing you could have done was get a Giant Pretzel, when I went to New York City for the first time on a double decker bus, dad got us each a biiiigggg pretzel, i was only like 10 at teh time and i was crying that i could not fininsh it, it tasted so gooooooddddd.

  • Team TARDIS: Come to Chicago someday! All of you need to try Chicago pizza and hotdogs. Take a elevator up to the Sky-Deck of the Willis (Sears) Tower.

  • When was he in NYC? Was he here when the Doctor and Amy were here? I was "meh" about him at first but Rory has grown on me. In the first episode of the new season, Rory was so adorable when he had to take care of the guy who was in shock of the TARDIS. LOL. Please don't axe Rory!

  • @seraphically Based on all the times Rory's died or almost died since his first appearance, I'd say the people who write the episodes are a bit jealous...

  • There is nothing better than NYC Pizza and hotdogs!

  • I would watch his travel show, he's adorable.

  • ok how is that the first time some one ate pizza or hot dogs ever! i know he's from England but that's just weird that they don't have it there

  • @LauraKandro105 He's probably had pizza and hot-dogs/sausages before but not 'New York'-versions of them which can be considered different enough to try.

  • @Lizbth01 that makes sense :)

  • @LauraKandro105 Maybe. Gosh think about if he sat down to a Chicago-style pizza (As a Chicagoan I'm not keen on it) or snagged a Chicago-dog/ or Cincinnati chili dog. XD

  • Dude, you're suppose to fold the pizza in half like a taco, that's why the slice is so huge!

  • To be fair everyone who is commenting "he should've gone to X": 1) they're not going to let him get a street dog because they can't film him outdoors for that long getting a hotdog. It's got to be a controlled atmosphere. Crif Dogs is an excellent choice. 2) Artichoke is not necessarily a "New York thing" but it's definitle a slice you can only get in NYC. They've done really well these past few years, so much so that expanded. Another controlled atmosphere. Quite good pizza too.

    Chill out.

  • Three words: New York Cheesecake

  • Arthur! You must go to a street vendor for hotdogs ... seriously, it's not New Delhi, you probably will not die and this is a sample of NYC cuisine ... not those posh souhou places you went to!

  • He kinda looks like david tenant

  • They should make an in-series movie called 'Rory in the big city'

    Make it happen BBC.

  • Arthur's sort of doing that thing they do on Food Network when the food is either average or kind of strange.

Just says "It's really good, really good." and nods.

I noticed this more when he had the hot dog.

    "Deep.. fried... hot dog..."

  • Artichokes? Not! Almost any place in Brooklyn like L&B's Spumoni Gardens or Bad Boys (both on 86th Street) or maybe Ray's Famous in Manhattan.

As for that thing in a bun he ate, any dirt-water dog from a street corner cart is more of a NY hot dog, Or better yet, Nathans in Coney Island. Just a hope, skip and jump away. And top it with mustard and sauerkraut (or onions).

Then top it all off with Roll 'n' Roaster in Sheapshead Bay

  • He should be getting his hot dog from the street and his pizza from Penn Station.

  • There's a giant hot dog above my head...

  • WHat? Eating a "NY" hotdog NOT out off of a cart? Then it's NOT a New York Hotdog.

  • @imbeingsirius I was gonna say the same... the NY hot dog experience is off the cart... Boiled, with mustard and sauerkraut, if you like...hot pretzels as well!! :) The other 'authentic' hot dog experience is at the ball park (baseball).

Not to sure about pizza with artichoke either, much too posh, but I won't quibble...

  • @imaof4 Absolutely! Plain pizza! From an establishment that isn't nearly so cutesy as "Artichoke"- some place called Tony's or Timmy's or Jimmy's or Ray's or whathaveyou. It's not his fault- he just didn't know. Next time.

  • @imbeingsirius You're right, it has to be Tony's - and somewhere in Little Italy would be nice!! :) Thumbs up for authentic yellow taxi...

  • I LOVE his sunglasses

  • Welcome to America Arthur! We deep fry everything, even most things you would consider impossible to deep fry.

  • New York style pizza is the worst. He needs to go to Chicago.

  • Guys, no one cares what you like on your damn hotdog. =P

  • Dude, you're supposed to fold the pizza like a taco for the real NY effect! LOL! ^_^

  • <3 Arthur Darvill and Rory. I believe he is my favorite companion, after of course the amazing Donna Noble.

  • Hipster Prince.

  • Why is he so damn cute??

  • If you want real pizza and hot dogs, come to Chicago.

  • Dear @xKatjaxPurrsx,

All caps is NOT your friend. In addition: Joss Whedon. If you have time to write a scathing plot-point critique (twice), you have time to breathe and spell check your reference.

  • He is sexy. And this is great.

  • THATS SO ADORABLE

  • OMG, he's so cute!!

But he's supposed to buy a hot dog from a cart.

  • OMG, why don't I find out that the DW cast is in NYC until it's too late! BTW, Real NY hotdogs come from carts... and are NOT deep-fried!

  • He needs to start plain and works his way up! First a "plain" hot dog (just the basics mustard and ketchup and maybe some onions) and a plain cheese pizza. Then he can go for the fancy stuff.

  • @krgrimm Yeah he should have had a cheese slice, but the hot dog should be just a bun and no condiments. Good hot dogs don't need condiments! :D

  • @krgrimm Ketchup? On a hot dog? Really?

  • @Alvious Hells yes! I loath mustard, but ketchup on a hot dog is so good. I don't care what commandment I have to break, I will put ketchup on my hot dog. LOTS AND LOTS of it.

  • @krgrimm Just mustard. That's all you need on a hotdog.

  • AWESOME!

  • why was i not in these places at the same time?! fjhbfdbfkdbfdbvd

  • aww that was great! <3

  • He seems like a great guy, but he should've gone with more traditional pizza and dogs. You know, a real taste of New York...the classics never go out of style. BTW, was it just me or did his face not look like he was enjoying the dog even though his mouth said he was? :o)

  • @ExtremelyTiredDad agreed!

  • I cannot wait.. going to die if i don't see doctor who really effin soon

  • Someone give him his own show!

  • i think he understands why Americans are fat

  • @lilcapt lol yep!

  • you gotta go with something better than a salsa hot dog and an artichoke pizza! come on man!

  • Glad you were able to visit our side of the pond! Some (especially Chicago-area residents) would argue that Chicago is the place to go for pizza - especially the deep-dish variety.

  • All due respect to Crif Dogs, he should have hit up Papaya King or Gray's Papaya for a hot dog and papaya for the true NYC experience.

  • you go to new york to go up the empire state building! not eat a pizza!

  • best pizza in nyc is in Brooklyn!

  • That's our new BBC Sub Series - Arthur vs Food!

  • I was the same way when I visited Italy and Scotland: I went straight for the pizza.

  • OMG!!! Deep fried hot dog??? Only in America I guess...... And I suppose we Aussies have some strange things too...... LOL! And BTW Arthur is simply too cute for words here =D

  • It's America... We deep fry everything. EVERYTHING.

  • I had a Nathan's hot dog in NYC once, it was delicious. Also, teriyaki beef kebab bought from a food cart off Times Square at 1am was one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. Whatever that says about me ... :D

  • @EclecticMuse4 Nathan's are the best! :)

  • If he's more adorable than that I think I would die <3

  • Ugh, Arthur stop being so freaking adorable. D:<

But yeah that stuff is probably overpriced. Come to Brooklyn and enjoy some good pizza and hot dogs for a fraction of the price!

(Meanwhile your camera people need better lenses so you don't have such a wonky focus in all the videos. It's kind of distracting.)

  • Arthur is my absolute favorite. <3 My day has been made.

  • Arthur's such a sweetie! Wish I lived in New York, I would've totally glomped him...in a friendly way!!! ;D He's gonna go on to do great things, keep an eye on him for the future!

  • @bellalysewinchester

    Glomped him? Sounds illegal

  • @sjb23271 Just means attack hug. :3

  • I'm sure Arthur Darvill has a great career ahead.

  • ARTHUR DARVILL IS WIN.

  • Get you some deep dish pies man. That's real pizza.

  • Arthur <3

  • "There is a a giant sausage above my hair. It is saying 'Eat Me'. So... Um... I'm not gonna let it down. I'm gonna go and do that." Arthur is too funny. XD Love him. He is amazing, fantastic, and brilliant. :)

  • Since when ?

  • Doesn't Arthur know, that in America, we deep fry everything which is one of the reasons we are the fattest country in the world...

  • @secretdreamer146 I'm American, and I eat a TON of deep fried stuff, and yet still skinny as can be. I must be one of the lucky ones. :D

  • @GoldenTalesGeek Either lucky or you're male or young. When I was --erm-- under thirty I could eat anything, loads of chocalate, chips, the best junk food any restuarant could serve-- now I'm , I'll have that with no bun and a side of rice please....lol
