What makes me sick is that me and my Mum went to my cousin's house and my little cousin had a huge go (to American's, im not sure if that phrase is used - it means ranting at someone) at my Mum because she left her laptop on standby...saying "you're causing global warming". The little girl is 10 so I couldn't get really mad, but I tried my best to discuss an alternative to what her school tells her. School = Indoctrination!

You guys are nutts. You say that Global Warming isnt happening when these people who have lived there for a millennium say that everything is disappearing around them.

Canada had its WARMEST winter this past year. Im not sure how Alex gets away with these "facts"

@tharealkovo A lot of people believe that there is "Climate Change" but it is natural over the course of hundreds and thousands of years and is not something that is man made, like Al Gore's Global Warming. You might think about looking into the HAARP project transmitters that "they" are using to manipulate the weather, and maybe even produce earth quakes according to some.

@ionacaddy Definitely agree that its a normal process. But whats wrong with trying to do something about it to slow it down or lessen its hurt on our civilization?

Drastic measures are for sure not always necessary but doing something to help our planet through the process (and save ourselves in the process) isnt hurtful.

Of course in the hands of tyrants, its hard to see a clear picture.

In any event, regional climate change is not the same thing as a global temperature increase. Something often mentioned by pro-GCC, for example, in response to some areas having some of the coldest Winters last year in quite some time.

When and where data specifically conflicts, it means someone is either lying, it is up to you to collect that data yourself to confirm who. This in addition to dispute over causation of the phenomenon.

@tsenzei It is an active study taking place at Inuit communities around the arctic (recent reporting on several news networks including Aljazeera on yt)

Different data sets will for sure conflict, but global warming doesnt always mean warm weather. Its such a misunderstood concept.

If anything, global warming will cause much more severe winters in generally mild climates and cause warmer winters in generally cold climates. Its the process of destabilizing the natural currents among other things.

@tharealkovo Oh I'm quite aware of what actual "global warming" is. Personally, I try to only debate cause and extent of threat. However, my reference to conflicting data was not recent temperature measurements, but more general data. For example, t seems to me that the majority of "deniers" only state that humans aren't the primary cause, and/or that "Global Warming" as depicted by Al Gore isn't real. Then there are others that say it isn't happening at all. AJ seems to be the former.

Cont. We have conflicting data, from AGW, from other sources, from meteorologists of all people... etc. People get away with incorrect "facts" because they have "authority" and/or lack of competition for "facts."

Unfortunately, especially as its handled now, it means that there's a bunch of people with incorrect information that they have on "good authority" is correct.  Which also means that real science gets thrown by the wayside, and what, if anything, we can and should do, remains unknown.

Fin. So we have a bunch of jumbled and incomplete data, a bunch of conflicting models (which are NOT data), and different people saying they are a/the "authority" on the subject. Global warming does mean higher global temperature averages, but that can result in regional temperature shifts up or down.

Unfortunately people have different ideas of what "climate change" means. So you have people saying "it's not real!" when they mean the wrong version of the term, rather than the actual one.
