  • I love this show! I use to watch this show every morning before I went to school! My how the times fly...

  • I heard this song on Fox News Channel earlier & can't get it out of my head.

  • i watched this show every morning along with kimba the lion and heathcliff.Times back then were so cool and carefree!

  • Aww I miss this

  • Im 37 years old, and i used to watch this show every morning during the early 1980's before the bus would pick me up for school. To this day the theme song sometimes still repeats in my head lol. Looking back i am thankful for growing up during a simpler time when not everything was a sellout, and not everyone was so self absorbed in their technology. It was also a time when parents knew how to parent, and kids were actually physically active. The great times are long gone, and its sad.

  • Thumbs up if sonic colors brought you here.

  • I'm 17 so I only know this from Family Guy, but this looks amazing. If only I was born 25 years earlier.

  • Wow! I used to watch this when I was about 7 years old, but I couldn't remember what the hell it was called.

  • This brings back fond memories of The Awesome 80's

  • wow this makes me feel old and im 32.

  • @blackfriday79 Thanks for saying that. I'm 34, you jerk. :)

  • It was on pbs in the early 80's. Last i ever saw of it !

  • I was singing this theme song this morning for no apparent reason, so I had to come here and listen to the real thing!

  • @lobsterg Me too.

  • A ckassic 79's show. Wgi jnew Danny (Chris Gifford) would go on to create Dora the Explorer & Go Diego Go!

  • I loved this show! Thanks for posting this! I checked out GreatSpaceCoaster on the web and came across the logo with "Get on Board 2012." What's THAT all about?! Any ideas?

  • Yep...turning 40 in a few days...this is hillarious. Gary Gnu....you rock!

  • i know im old as hell, cause i sure remember this!!!!

  • @xchickenmanx : We need to put an illuminated fish skeleton in space. I would actually pay higher taxes for that. I think it would really mess with the heads of aliens passing throught the galaxy. "Hey guys, do I take a left or right at the fish skeleton, wait........wtf"????

  • I would have never remember the name of this show if it wasn't for Family Guy.

  • I love FG but I watched this as a kid.

  • Thumbs if you came here after watching Family Guy!

  • "shut up ricky just shut up. Unless the next words out of your mouth directions on how to get back to the fish skelton, im gonna punch you in the stomache!"

  • OMG CLASSIC DAMN FORGOT BOUT THIS ONE TOO

  • Good Gawd, I'm old!!!!

  • Nostalgic!

  • Lol. Catchy theme song! I see why they put this on family Guy.

  • Wow!! Seriously???!! Damn I'm ancient LOL

  • @trapped45 me too LOL, you know ur old when you remember romper room.

  • @721rem Oh, you just had to go there!! LOL I remember Romper Room, sadly enough :P I'm going to go lay down next to my Lite Bright and hug Teddy Ruxpin now lol xxx

  • I feel old now. :(

  • This song is my absolute worst earworm ever!

  • This looks like a cool old show.

  • Wow I remember this when I was five at day care and was 30yrs ago.

  • No Gnus is Good Gnus with Gary. Him as his No Gnus Cashews.

  • Very catchy song. Some of the theme songs for TV shows are great. I get them stuck in my head even years after I last heard them. Some songs in TV & radio commercials are also catchy. Commercials used to be more, um, what's the word, regional? But with cable TV & satellite radio we can hear commercials for other areas. I have some on audio tape that I recorded back in the late 70s & through the 80s. I have some very funny car dealer commercials from San Diego when I used to live there in the 80s

  • @Quandary2 Maybe I should put them on youtube, there might be people out there that would enjoy hearing them or hearing them again if they heard them when they were being used. I should go through my audio and video tapes and see if I can get them recorded to digital format with reasonable quality.

  • 7 years later: "okay, We're officially lost." "ON THE GREAT SPACE COASTER!"

  • that ain't Peter Griffin driving

  • i get my license in two weeks and im getting subs for my truck, i am deffinetly pumping the shit out of this song

  • I used to watch this every day as a kid. The older tv shows, like this one, hill street blues, etc., had such better opening intro music in them then the shows nowadays.

  • Sounds like spring reverb abuse on the intro. If you have a guitar amp that has spring reverb, if you hit the amp with your fist, with the reverb cranked, you get that exact same sound. One of the things they haven't figured out how to do in digital reverb.

  • i looved this show .. i had a crush on Danny and i couldnt have been more than 7 0r 6

  • @billypfan

It took me until I was twelve until I developed a crush on Julie Kinisky from "Gimme a Break!"! I guess that everybody's mind and body grows up at a different speed!

  • @Smartboy8877 yea I crushed Grant Goodeve from Eight is Enough and John Travolta about the same time.. lotsa good eye candy back than

  • family guy sent me here

  • One of the few themes that I have always loved that is not in my collection. I barely remember this program in some respect and will never forget it in others. Roaring towards the other side where only rainbows hide!

  • I cant watch this anymore without laughing...Because of family Guy

  • i always thought this show had a great theme song lol

  • I remember watching this in reruns in 1985.

  • I met the puppeteer of Gary Ganu at The Pittsburgh Comicon A few years ago.

  • This ride makes you want to go on a rollercoaster!

  • Gary Ganuuuuuu lol

  • Damn! So great memories!

  • when i hear this song i tend to dance like carlton from fresh prince.

  • Shut up Ricky!!!

  • @Dawson161 unless the next words out of your mouth are directions how to get back to the fish skeleton, I'm gonna punch you right in the stomach :P

  • @Dawson161 unless the next words out of your mouth are directions how to get back to the fish skeleton, I'm gonna punch right in the stomach :P

  • What the fffffffff

  • im playing this song when my friend gets laid ill sit in the living room and blast this song through the galaxy on the great space coaster.

  • Can some tell us how to get back to the fish skeleton

  • When I see this I instantly think it's early morning before elementary school again. 8)

  • i saw the great space coaster on family guy and i had to see it here

  • I never actually watched this....what exactly was this all about? To me it kinda' seems like a cross between New Zoo Review and Kroft Superstars......???

  • And they wonder why we do drugs.

  • The childhood memories of blissful innocence snatch my breaths.

  • @roscoegino Huh huh!!!!! You said snatch!!!!! The return of the immortal Beavis & Butt-Head coming this October!!!!!! FIRE!!!! FIRE!!!! FIRE!!!!!!!

  • Was this the 80's???

  • Wow I loved that show......

  • i use 2 watch this show b4 going 2 school i miss the 80's

  • Glad to say I watched this while growing up in the early 80's. When TV was worth watching. now it is all gone to shit. FUCK FAMILY GUY!!

  • i haven't heard this song in over 20 years though for some reason its been playing in my head recently

  • The Theme Song Is AWESOME!

  • Wow, early '80's. While getting ready for jr. high school. Listened to this every morning for back ground noise.

  • @Offthbadan Too coincidental. I also had this on in the background while getting ready for junior high school.

  • Here's what is scary about this show....We don't know enough about our galaxy to know whether or not this show is based on real stuff or not.....I used to love this show when I was little, but now it kind of freaks me out and gives me a lot to think about.

  • i swear this all looks familiar i just dont remember it very good, than again I was 2 when it came on

  • @psychogrox

It looked familiar to me as well. Then I remembered that I experimented with drugs back in high school.

  • "And now for something really new, here Gary Gnu!"

  • uh,,Familly Guy Brought me here...

  • Atleast you never had peters directions ;)

  • ahhh, the great space coaster.

as part of the HR Pufnstuf generation I recall this vividly.

Over saturated colors, cereal over saturated with sugar.

    let the good times roll

  • KOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!! I watched this as a kid, what memories!

  • in 1979 i was 11 years old and this was the song that gave me my flash backs for drug use . 3 years later i met my drug dealer who i bought 98% of my drugs from. we were talking about crappy music and i mentioned the great space coaster theme and we both smoked a joint and teared up because we were so high.

  • I was late for school SOOO many times because I had to watch this show! I didn't care that I was in Junior High...this show was great! Like HR PufnStuf in outer space!

  • Sure the Great Space Coaster looks cool and all but can it do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs

  • @Ted7864 probably not , but I'll be careful........i'll be dead!!!

  • @Ted7864 I believe the Great Space Coaster was designed more for crusing than for out right speed. :-)

  • @IndianaSurfGuitar

I agree with you. But I was thinking about your comment while I was on the toilet and figured that the only way to travel through the galaxy would be to do it at light speed. I came to the conclusion that their little ship had some sort of retractable roof that was never seen when they filmed the show. Just a thought.

  • FIGHT FIGHT

  • it's all CGI now etc...which is fun for maybe five minutes...people don't like imperfection...to my eye, imperfection is more fun to digest...

  • I remember this show. It used to come on USA Network. I remember the "News with Gary Gnu" and I believe they had a big talking dog. They always showed video clips from a minature video viewer of some sort. Man, time goes by so fast!!!

  • More like "the gay space coaster"

  • @gipnfdl007 Yes, it sucked and still sucks. I hated this song and the entire cast especially that black boy; he was very annoying with that little mini movie thing. I'd rather watch Mister Rogers.

  • Freddy the frog was on The New Zoo Review. I totally forgot about that one.

  • @senorhand

I remember the New Zoo Review and the character of Freddy the Frog. He was quite a guy!

  • Used to be I'd get outta bed at like four a.m. to see Romper Room, this, The Muppet Show, then later Fraggle Rock, before school. Ah, the bad old days. What was that show with the Frog, the Hippo (Henrietta Hippo, that was it), and that other one; people in enormous costumes? Was that this? I don't remember... the food even at that time was ish-poisony, undernourishing... what a warped, bizarre childhood I had. I miss Showbiz Pizza Place, that place was wonderful. I love WonderShowzen.

  • @YaWantTaters The show with Henrietta Hippo, Freddy the Frog and Charlie the Owl was New Zoo Revue.

  • @joejoewest Oh my gawd, wow yes! Haha what a zany, weird bit of humor that one was. Charlie the Owl, I had forgotten about him!

  • like if FAMILY GUY brought you here

  • I grew up in this time. This is just one of those shows that doesn't ring a bell.

  • Great Space Coaster, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Underdog! I was ready for Kindergarten! lol

  • Born in 72. This was one of favorite shows to watch in the morning right before going to school. I think growing up around that time I realize our generation was very lucky to have great shows.

  • @Legendofzoom

I'm an 80's baby and I can't say the same about kids growing up now. A number of the shows are horrible now. Give me the old-school shows from back in the day!

  • @technologick1183 we tend to get too "clever" over time in several areas of interest (tv, movies, music)...the stuff out there now is actually stuff that our generation is putting together, so it's hard to know who to blame...in the horror genre, for example, simplicity will always win (Psycho may not be gory, but it has the right atmosphere and it's relatively simple, so it lasts...DinoShark will look silly in a few years, if not now)...

  • Family guy made fun of it...LOL

  • In 1979 I was merely 4 years old, and this was the song that gave me my passion for becoming a musician. 30 years later I actually met the composer of this song (Anne Bryant who also composed 98% of the music for Jem). We got to talking about music, and I mentioned (randomly) that The Great Space Coaster theme was when I truly wanted to be a musician. She told me that she wrote the theme. I almost teared up, and then I said "Anne you're why I became a musician." This song changed my life!

  • @zangazoo2007 Awesome!

  • @zangazoo2007 It wasn't on in 1979 it first came on in 1981 and you were 6.

  • @TimeBolt read the copyright dates. It did start in late 79

  • @zangazoo2007 Actually this came out in the early '80s but I know what you mean.

  • @zangazoo2007 Interesting you mention that, I too had life changing inspiration from this theme. Since then, I've been getting high as a kite.

  • @zangazoo2007 The show didn't air until '81.

  • @zangazoo2007 That's awesome!

  • I watched everyday!

  • thumbs up if family guy brought you here

  • Some ideal visions I have of Baxter & his coaster in a contest with the starship Enterprise D,or the Huggles singing the Teletubbies theme (one promo showed four Huggles) (who would win,Huggles or Teletubbies?)

  • What's going on with Speed Reader?

  • @markscudder it's "roaring toward the other side". not "roint" lol.

  • "Roint on the other side?" 30 years later I still can't make out that word.

  • THIS WAS THE GREATEST SONG EVER!!!...

  • Unless you can give us directions on how to get back to the fish skeleton I'm going to punch you right in the stomach!"

  • love singing the chorus of this song 29 years ago.

  • I loved this show lmao I sang along with it and couldnt believe that i remembered all of the words

  • I know... I just knew the words , must have been locked away in the back of my brain

    LOVED THIS SHOW

  • God! It all came back to me when this video was on Family Guy the other evening. Yes I do feel old!!

  • Well we are officially lost.

  • year?

  • @brandonhighgirl 1970's around there

  • LMAO retarded puppets!!!!

  • i had Totally Forgotten about this Childhood CLASSIC until the opening theme was featured recently on an episode of family Guy!

  • i'm trying to find the one...that had a space train...and it was a cartoon..and it was always going back in time and such....argggh. i think it was a late 70's early eighties cartoon.

  • I wasn't crazy about this cartoon, but it brings back memories.

  • No not fraggle rock, one puppet was blind, one had leg braces, they all had some kind of mental or physical problem.

  • Does anyone remember the show that was like this but had retarded puppets? Know one seems to remember that show.

  • @JENDALL714 fraggle rock?

  • Thanks yall.I never thought I would see this again. TV used to be so good and fun.Now its just horrible.

  • I was watching this when I was 4 and 5, like 28 years ago! lol dang

  • I remember watching this before school every morning. I used to have to get up at 6am because my parents left for work early and I had to make sure I woke my younger brother up

  • I <3 Family Guy for spoofing this...great flashback for 80's kids :)

  • 0:16

Hey Ricky tell Peter where the fish skeleton is!

  • geez...that was a wicked flashback ugh

  • Loved it!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Bomba Bomba Bomba

  • ...Why don't i remember this...Where was i?....Oh yeah England...We had Top Cat instead...

  • I miss foggy day schedules in Central California

  • i hadnt seen this in like 30 years. man what a blast from the past.....

  • @suedeheadist It's been over 30 years for me, too. I was in my second year of the third grade, just before I SKIPPED THE FOURTH GRADE...

  • @PatrioticPirate Third grade for me too! This came on just before school (on the days i chose to attend.)

  • Ahh, memories. :)

  • youtube> a true time machine

  • ahhhhhhhh!!!! omg. this totally brings me so far back! I love it love it love it!!! They don't make shows like this anymore. For the ones who know about this show, we had it good y'all!!

  • @diaryofanappyhead YES we did!

  • @surferaw949 Shame on you. Why would you say such things? It makes you look very ignorant and foolish.

  • Believe it or not, this show was Kevin Clash's puppeteering debut, long before he worked with Jim Henson. He was the voice of Gorridle the Gorilla.

  • XD i rember this show...

  • Well we are officially lost. On the Great Space Coast, SHUT UP RICKY!! JUST SHUT UP RIGHT NOW!!! Unless the next words out of your mouth are directions how to get back to the fish skeleton or I'll punch you right in the stomach! LMAO

  • I saw this on Family Guy

  • family guy 7 years later lmao

  • It was ok back then, but now it just seems increidbly cheesy.

  • best shit

  • 27 people got lost on the Great Space Coaster

  • Yes! I can't believe this was aired way back in 81. I was thinking mid-80's with Transformers, and Dungeons & Dragons, etc. But, like others, I don't remember what the show was about, except that annoying "line-guy" cartoon, lol.

  • If you remember this then you old as hell like me.....lol

  • is that irene cara?

  • i'm 26 and i remember this, must of been something of my moms recorded on vhs since its quite old. I remember a certian clip where this lama was doing the news and he says were going to talk about dance. and some pants fall on his head he says not pants dance. or something of the sort lol

  • @crzygrl3678 i'm guessing it's "Not shorts! SPORTS!" ? xD

  • "We are officially lost". "On the great space coa...." "Shut Ricky, unless the next words out of your mouth are directions on how to get back to the fish skeleton, or I will punch you in the stomach" LOL

  • @TheDigitalslayer I died laughing when Family Guy spoofed that a few years ago...I think I was the only one who got the reference :)
