Only 3 were ever made, one is in a private museum, the other in a collection and mine on the car. It is actually less functional than an early McCulloch. It has some very bad design problems. We are modifying a VS-57 impeller to go in and two new front drive gears. Lots of work but well worth the trouble to preserve and have a functional blower. Will post a vid when we get it done.
@Redmanfms Thanks dude. Got the heads off doing some work to the engine. The supercharger needs some tlc. Maybe next summer, we can try it on the strip
@CaptJackSpeed Not surprised, I didn't know S&S even made a blower, must have been junk as they didn't go into production. Not calling your stuff junk, I think it's pretty cool that you're preserving history.
When you get the motor back together post us a video.
@JGMagoo You have a good eye. One of my sons put that into the oil line coil as a joke.... I may just leave it there. what the hell. Nobody wants to run the 21 stud as they get hot, have babbitt bearings, etc. I had the 34 V-8 in there but it cracked a cylinder liner. The replacement came from a friend's garage. It was rebuilt in Memphis by Fallo Engine and Porting Service in 1948, according to the data plate. Gotta keep the ole skool stuff going.
@SCBianchi lol. that blower has been pretty troublesome. it was built in 1949 or so and although later than the McCulloch, is not nearly as good. the impeller came apart recently. it was a faulty design. no wonder thw S&S never went into production. this one is #3 of 3 built. i have it apart and am modifying a VS-57 impeller to replace the old one. this is a tedious project, but should make it reliable. it's either me or the blower..... one of us will eventually give up... lol
@fuzzypeach Thanks man! Its a keeper, that's for sure. I didn't have the heart to chop the top, cut the floor to channel it, or cut the firewall. Still got lots of little things to do. Like any hot rod, the job is never done!
I'll have a look at it tomorrow. Wonder what is going on? oh well

What is the rould ball (looks like a toilet float) sitting on the passenger side behind the blower with copper lines running around it???
Neat to see a 21-stud and the early speed equipment running!
Thanks for preserving this.
