Yeah, when I watched Advent Children I thought "WTF?!? Didn't Tseng die?!" They never really made that clear in the game.

It's a shame, Tseng was actually the only "honourable" Turk in the game, even though he wasn't as awesome a character as Reno and Rude. (They shoulda just left it at those two, Elena was completely unnecessary character.) And wasn't he secretly in love with Aeris...? A cool plot twist would've been HIM controlling Cait Sith, not Reeve.

I have played the game, but Tseng makes a (cameo) return in Advent Children, and apparently it was a mistranslation from the Japanese text that led players to believe that Tseng had died. It wouldn't be the only mistranslation in the game. "Off course!" is my favourite one.
