I had this same procedure done several months ago with Alloderm. Althought I fully recovered I noticed that I don't have complete root coverage as your videos show. My periodontist said this is because I have some bone loss and therefore complete root coverage wasn't possible. Do you agree with this, and are there other procedures that can be done besides gum grafting that will provide complete root coverage? Thank you.
@pinches82 your periodontist is correct. You may notice that there is no loss of tissue between the teeth in this video. In cases like this it is easier to get more root coverage. As for other procedures it is hard to say but there is a limit to what we can regenerate. Beyond that veneer restorations or composite restorations can be done. There are times when we can get additional regeneration with placement of AlloDerm inbetween the teeth to make the papillae thicker.
I have a moderate recession on my left max canine that I want to have grafted. I am curious if AlloDerm is as effective as using a connective tissue graft.
awesome job , am doing my second alloderm surgery today. thanks for the great videos! i am greatful to be able to watch them over and over to get the right technique
@j0d1dds1 I am so happy to be providing instruction in this global way! Some people tinker in the garage at nights but I sit at the computer and edit videos... I love it. Everyone should have a passionate pursuit!
Hello, I am 24 years old and I have receding gums on my lower teeth very similar to the patient in this video ( maybe not as bad but very similar). I haven't spoken to a dentist yet but I was wondering if some surgeons can put you to sleep for this or are patients ALWAYS conscious during gum grafting procedures? and before talking about surgery, is there something I can do to stop or slow down the recession or is it inevitable? Thank you.
@T0rche many surgeons use some form of sedation for patients who would like that. To stop recession there are many factors that effect the presence of it in the first place so an exam by a specialist is recommended.
@perieau but it is irreversible correct? so even if the specialist diagnoses it and finds the cause, there is no real "treatment" except gingival graft right?
@T0rche options when you have recession are: do nothing or grafting. There are various types of grafting options. A retainer or night guard may help prevent more problems if clenching and/or grinding is a factor.
@perieau Thanks a lot for your help! I find it so surprising that with all the amazing things the human body can do, it can't even heal/regenerate it's own gums...
What a cool procedure dr. Kwan. I learned a lot from watching your video, every
single one of them. Cannot wait to look for these kinds of cases this coming fall. Here in the Northwest, the Fall season is coming and it is perfect to stay indoor & watch some informative videos from your camp. Keep them coming, and ....happy grafting. pkayoutuber.
