the scene is goofy but allowing for some latitude, just have the damn thing stop farther back, come screeching to a stop and its works fine: everything else in it is great, the calm of Cummings, the device, very unusual setting, and topped off by the very likely improvisation of the spitting out the window by Lorre: that was not in the script very likely. Very rich scene except for the stupid stupid stupid climax, compared to the truly bad films anymore, so far this is a very nice little movie
...esp one of those behemoths from the forties!!!

The scene is ridiculous. You couldn't stop a car in one second at a speed of 120 mph.
