I got the first three models each at launch and I love the DSi compared to the lite and phat. It's awesome. But the XL is just a waste, if you bought one now you're really screwed because of the 3ds coming in March.

to be honest i didnt care for gba games i only played the gba for the final fantasy advance ports and my ds lite was about to break so i sold quick at gamestop and bought the dsi (for gba i just kept my gba sp) and when the announced the xl i had no intrest in it and i chose right cause now they're releasing the 3ds which is a COMPLETELY new system so i can now afford it.

Agreed. I havn't even picked up a DSi yet. Now that I know the 3DS is coming out, I'm totally going to get that. I think it was a bad advertisement plan to announce the 3DS about a week before the release of this new DS.

I got a XL and it's not all that bad the graphics have slight pixelation but its bareley noticible and i dont mind that the gba slots gone i pretty much move on from gba so in my opinion if you have a ds llite or origial its prob worth upgrading but if u have a dsi just stick wit that

I think that the Nintendo DSi XL was a bland idea. I mean, I don't care about a bigger screen, plus if you trade in your ordinary DSi, the price is reduced to 99$. What a waste of money!

It isn't supposed to be a 'money making scheme'. It was designed for people who are old, have poor vision, or have arthritis. Nintendo also stated that this was supposed to be an alternative to the DSi, not a replacement (so they're not expecting original DSi owners to buy it). And they're making the 3DS next year anyways.

I got a bronze (dark brown) DSi XL, and it only looks brown when you're playing in a warm-colored light. Otherwise, it looks black (with a shiny bronze finish on the bottom).

I like the DSi XL because it is a good thing if u hate the tiny screen and it could be good for people with big hands I guess. I think I might get one, I sold my old phat about a year ago and I want this for SoulSilver and the new Zelda.

well when comparing the ds lite to the dsi, it's comparing the video cassette to the cd player to the ipod. if you expect the dsi to play gba games then you must expect the latest ipad to have a slot available to play cds. its just technology and yeah nintendo would like to earn some extra cash

Yes, all the DS models have online functionality, INCLUDING the DS Phat and DS Lite.

They improved it in the DSi by adding 802.11g support so it's faster. Both DSi's have an online shop called "DSi Shop" that can be accesed from the menu. There you can download exclusive DSi only games and apps, one of which is a Web Browser.

And also, you need to remember that Nin. are still selling regular DSi, and, even though DSi LL is more awesome, if smallness is your thing, you have the choice, and you're not sacrificing much picking the least recent. (beta stuff: Volume and trigger buttons were improved in the making of the DS iLL)

And about the grainy shitty graphics, beware: don't expect it to be too bad, it will look very good and pleasing to watch... just as Super Mario World looked AWESOME on your TV at 256x224 pixels.

They would have made the buttons bigger and I would have sold my DSi for it... DSi feels very luxurious, apparently, and they seen to have fixed the squeaky triggers.

And I really think that, when it comes to screen, the bigger the better (the handheld must be around the size of a original gameboy, bigger than that would be goofy, smaller is useful, you're all just a bunch of freako with you tinytude obsession) and sound needs to be loud too (DS lite was weak on that).

I fail to understand the ranting about the dsi and the new ll version, if you own a ds lite or even the original ds, why would you care the newer versions don't have a gba slot? and correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think nintendo ever said there will be support for older systems, people who got ds ite got it as a bonus. now let's say you don't own a ds system yet, now you have a lot more to choose from, you want a big ass screen, get dsi xl, you want a gba support, get ds lite.

I thought it was a really good idea actually. I don't believe they are releasing it for people who already have a regular DSi. I never bought a handheld because I don't think I could deal with playing on the tiny screen, so making it bigger will appeal to others like me. I honestly don't care about how slim it is. I wish they made the Ipod touch fatter so it would have a bigger battery for more power. Also totally opposite of the PSP GO making it smaller which was stupid in my opinion.
