@jcookjr82 yes it was...nice observation. Interesting how the ref on the far baseline didn't call it. It is a pretty obvious call to make. The refs were quick to call a violation on Arizona against Oklahoma a a few years ago for the same thing they missed here.

You can tell how much Gus Johnson loves sports an loves his job. Some announcers stay out of the way and let the emotion of the game do its thing (Pat Summerall, Dick Enberg), but Gus is one of the few that can let his emotion show and it's so natural that it just adds to the excitement.

what most of you DON'T know is that this is the same year and same bracket where Weber State beat UNC in the first round. (search for "weber state unc" and fast forward to when the tourney game starts). Weber State then took Florida to Double OT in round 2 ... it would have been so sweet if weber state would have played gonzaga in the sweet 16 in this game.

Well, I think the term "cinderella" is open to interpretation. To me, it wasn't like they were a 500 team that lucked out getting into the tourney with a few conference tourny wins. They had 28 wins that year. They remind me of Davidson this year. I don't think Davidson was a cinderella team like CBS promoted? They won 25 games in a row this year! Most common observers are just unaware of many teams though. I think R.I. and Utah made the elite 8 the year before as mid majors.

If you have Lamar Odom and Cuttino Mobley on your team I don't think that counts, and Utah would've had Van Horn on that team. Those guys are all NBA first round draft picks. The Zags didn't have any of that on this team. "The slipper still fits" applies here. It's a great line.

He operates from a bunker somewhere, they hop him up on caffeine and Pixie Stix, Then if any game comes down to the wire, they cut the audio feed from the announcers and let Gus call the stretch run.
