  • do you notice a battery life difference between the two airs you had? I did, my current toshiba ssd macbook has a lot more battery life.

  • @Megadeth6633 To be honest I did not use the toshiba one enough in order to notice any difference.

  • I have same problem with Apple, I received Toshiba SSD and I wonder what did you told them when you were "fight" with them, because they don't want exchange it, they propose me 20 euro discount - WTF ?

  • @wmakuw I am sorry to hear that.

Well I explained them the whole situation and they did not believe me so I ran the benchmark on the demo units which showed them the issues.

I asked for the manager and talked to him but he said that he would not care about benchmarks.

Then I talked to the Apple sales person and after a long discussion he gave me the demo unit with the Samsung SSD, the laptop was flawless, no scratches or anything.

  • @TechCentury Thanks for quick answer, I will try exchange it. I will inform about my succes or defeat.

  • @wmakuw You are very welcome, I hope you will be able to get it exchanged.

  • glad to hear you were able to exchange. fyi, I have the 11" i7 with the Samsung 256gb SSD, and I get write speeds of 249 and read of 266, not much more than your i5. I find that a little disappointing, but telling.

  • @periannpo Thank you! Well there can't be a difference in the write speed between your Air and mine because the SSD is the same. Only the size is different.

The processor does not have an impact on write or read speeds of the SSD.

  • Fantastic 👍👍👍👍👍

  • @earlbee31 Thanks!

  • Great to hear, Sebastian. When you have the chance, please tell us a bit more about your return experience, and how were you able to ascertain at the store that this unit indeed had the Samsung SSD?

  • @evan1276 Yes I will definitely make such a video to explain the whole story which kinda sucked.

There will also be a video about some screen issues on the MacBook Air and a fix for it.

  • Glad to hear you got them to change it. Also glad you chose to upload these 2 videos letting others know what to look for and that the discrepancy exists. Thanx.

  • @bigdarryld You are very welcome. Thank you very much for watching!

There is also a screen issue which I am going to talk about in a future video.

  • So what's so good about the new macbook air

  • @Macmizan The replacement unit you see in the video has a faster SSD than the original MacBook Air.

  • Great. Enjoy your new machine. I told you they would fix it somehow (even after a fight!). Off topic here, but I just saw the presentation video and downloaded iTunes U. I am really impressed with what Apple's doing with education. iOS still is the best platform for creating amazing apps and it is difficult to see others doing better in the near future. Thumbs up for your video, and for iTunes U :)

  • @markos741 Thank you very much! Yes I am glad they replaced it (even though it is a demo unit (flawless though).

I have not used Itunes U yet to be honest.

  • Good for you! Selling a computer model with two speeds but touting them to be the same is akin to writing a dozen eggs on a box and getting home only to find that you have 11 in one box from one farm and 12 in a box from another farm. Not quite that simple perhaps, but the principle is essentially the same.

  • @anjonjp Yes it really is and it just sucks if you still have to pay the full price.

Hopefully Apple will get rid off those crappy toshiba SSD's in the next update.

  • More Speed The Better

  • @Adversile It sure is!

  • Samsung and Apple need to come to an agreement and settle their feud. I know it's easier said than done, but it's possible.

  • @JSantana319 Yes they really should. If this is caused by the feud then it surprises me that there are still MacBook Airs with Samsung SSD's at all.

  • @TechCentury I heard that Apple bought a company that makes flash chips and that they might be integrating their own chips to their next line up. If this is true, then their speeds will be insanely fast.

  • @JSantana319 Yes I heard that, too.

It definitely has a huge potential for the future.

  • Long fight lol

  • @DanCdn Yes it really was, they were completely unaware of the issue and did not want to do anything about it.
