considering that many of the awards went to doctor shows specifically MASH and ER, I think NPH was the perfect choice to host since he himself was on a doctor show in the 80s. too bad its not airing on tv for me to watch in reruns cause that show is before my time (I am 20) so i never got a chance to see it.

But Angela Lansbury (pictured), who was the original Mame and the Broadway star in the comparison, is a huge tv star in addition to being a huge Broadway star... so the comparison doesn't really work.
