The space guy video for February Air.... what in hell - anyone thinking? The 2006 video nailed it. space guy is just... don't know what . Space guy video is so very unconnected, no cultural base and no core. Someone just wanted to get you in a tight body suit perhaps and sold a bill of (fear I say) goods that the video doesn't deliver. Stop spinning the wheels time for more music. Keep real.

I think it's suppose to be a throwback to the 1950's sci-fi films so I thought she did a good job contemporizing a classic style which was rather cheesy to begin with.

Noooooo, not really what I'm getting at. The original videos for the songs gave her music a much better image... you say it well - these are "rather cheesy", fine if it where the 50's. I can't see why she would discount her music and throwback to her career via a can of video cheeze wiz especially when she had something right to start.

The sci-fi movies themselves may be cheesy but when you consciously use their style in modern art in your own way it doesn't really come across as cheesy any more, at least in my eyes.

Imagine if someone like tool or radiohead used that style to make their music videos using that style, they aren't necessarily reproducing that style but kind of creating their own.

I hear you. I understand your thoughts this is what she intended... and that you don't see it a set back. From the stand point of promoting, advancing these songs, with the original videos already out there can you see conflict in marketing? Were the first videos a mistake and if so is the music itself legit or just the Old Navy advertising department doing their thing? Will her space suit be at Old Navy this Fall perhaps? How cheesy is it? Will her next songs appear in a Cheez-it ad?
