An amazing guitarist and shocking loss...I saw both Clapton and Stevie Ray that year. At Clapton's show sure everyone was in awe as they sat in their seats. When Stevie took the stage at his show, everybody stood up and nobody sat down the entire show. Not once, what electricity.
@chrisgblues you are right, in his interviews, he is just this little Texan kid that loves blues guitar, but on stage, he is the BIGGEST sound blues ever made!!
What a legend and it's coming up 20 years on his tragic passing. Check out that action on his frets around 1.15 seconds in!! holy shit not just bass strings high wires too.
Would love to see ANY guitarist in this day &age string their rig with industrial strength cable! SRV you are sorely missed my friend! You'll be the 1st person I'll be looking for if I make it upstairs!
OMG I was THERE! What an incredible and stunning performance‼ If only I had known then how damn lucky I was to have seen him on stage at least once in a lifetime! What a terrible loss! RIP Stevie!

Thank you so much for this - and all the other stuff, too!
What's your problem, SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1??? I changed my username from upncummer69 because it was in bad taste. Now, getting back to you, I don't know or care how "young" you are. I'm 71 years of age and, while I don't have to, I'll be happy to answer your question. I identify myself as I do because I'd like the people to know that I'm an "old doowopper' with a VARIETY of musical tastes. I don't restrict myself solely to "doo-wops". BTW, Chevrons is spelled with a capital "C"!!!
@cmondefeatme if this is in 1984 his drug taking was at its peak it was1985 he started to get clean, if you notice this scuttle buttin is slower than some other versions, although its still great you can see he is worn out.
Hi! My name is John "Marty" Trautman, co-founder & member of a New York City doo-wop group known as "The Chevrons". In my opinion, Stevie Ray is the "GREATEST MUSICIAN" that God ever created! He is beyond majestic! I could watch him work that guitar 24/7! Yes, Clapton is good, Van Halen is good, Hendrix was good, but c'mon folks. There is plenty of "good" to go around. But nobody, yes NOBODY can come remotely close to Stevie Ray! R.I.P. SRV

@1985blues why would you apologise and why did you mention Hendrix. srv fans have this weird obsession with comparing him to hendrix.
I prefer Hendrix a lot more but isnt me mentioning this just as pointless as you saying you prefer srv to him?... he's playing his own songs in this video.
dont knw sir it was spontaneous. it can be a sign of my immaturity SRV and hendrix are compared because SRV was inspired by hendrix and a few SRV compositions reflect it clearly.

I spent a lot of time in Austin way back then and had the honor of watching many of Stevie's shows. He never eased into a show...it was wide freaking open from the time he stepped onstage. The guy was unbelievable and a very very good singer as well. I am so glad that Stevie got to travel around and share his talent with the rest of the world even though we like to think that he was one of our own here in Texas.

please don't exaggerate. as if he is playing something uber-hard.. it was just a simple melody and he played it.. he should die if he even can not play that smooth.
