@brettbroomfield1 you wont be disappointed, ive seen even seen one but the paper ballistics are awesome. looks like you're a fan of 30-06 neck downs:)
Totally agree soft tips do a shit job on foxes here in the uk.. Get runners all the fucking time.. Every1 here uses ballistic tip bullets and they drop on the spot :)
If you have a 1/12 barrel twist I would highly recommend trying a lighter bullet. Savage 1/12 twist for 22-250 is recommended for 40-45 grain bullets for max stabilization, especially at long ranges. 50-65 grain bullets are for a 1/9 barrel twist.
I have now taken two wolves and one coyote. The last wolf I got was at 383 paces and it was after sighting my gun in at 300yds. I get a three shot group at less than .75 inch now at that range.
I have owned a very nice Remington in .243 and its a great cartridge as well. I would not trade my Savage in .22-250 for the .243
.243 is hard on pelts which is what I use my Axis for. Deer I use larger usually.
@nitrorsfour What model Savage? I've been looking at the 12FV in 22-250 but it only goes 1-12 twist. The VLP DBM goes 1-9. I don't mind the extra weight, or price.
@nitrorsfour i have never really target shot to much with the loads to find what gave me the smallest groupings mostly just zeroed it in and then shot groundhogs with i but thats for that ill have to run through my gun somtime
@brettbroomfield1 if you haven't got it yet id go for the 243. i bought a 22-250 a while back, once you get over the hyper speed of the cartridge, i reckon youll realise the 243 is more versatile.
@davery25 What do you mean by versatile? I have a .270, so already have my big game rifle. I'm trying to decide between .243 and 22-250, which will be used for coyote.
@200mphz06 versatile in that bullets range from 55 grains up to 105 or so. the 55grains can be pushed to similar velocities as a 55 grain in a 22-250 can, but you can also go up to heavy bullets for very long range shooting. a heavy bullet in a .243 is still supersonic at 1000m.
i wouldnt use a 243 for big game (i dont hunt so i wouldnt use it for any game) but it will do both big/small critters and target shooting very well too.
@davery25 im getting a 25-06 instead.

Hornady V-max owns coyotes at all ranges. I use they're rounds in 22-250 and they have no misfires or malfunctions.

Savage Axis .22-250 Hates Remington in 55grain put 5 round in a coffee cup:( Garbage for my gun.
Winchester CXP1 also 55 grain put 9 rounds on a quarter. :)
To be fair I clean after each 5 round group. I was also shooting from my rifle stand.
