I had an Uncle John Henry! ...and we used to live on TWO farms! ...and we chopped wood and we had peafowl and I MISS MY COUNTRY HOMES!!!

This is the old-fashioned way. Bill actually has a hydraulic log splitter...
Great response thanks! I do have some big logs to split so will be applying Bill's method.
