Most amazing piece of music I've heard since John Murphy's score for the film Sunshine (which Prof Cox had an advisory input on ) called Surface of the sun.It makes you tingle just like this wonderful piece of music but i think this is probably more uplifting. Sheridan Tounge - Genius.
If you like this sort of music, check out Mark Ishams "sky dive" composed for the film Pointbreak. Its awsome and inpired me to start surfing and appreciate what life is all about and to live it! Infact there is a movie score of this film with quite a few haunting and inspiring tracks on it. ( not the movie soundtrack)
I love all things astronomy and when such a mind-blowing composer creates music like this and puts it with a wonderful series with a genius of a presenter...well you get something that words can't describe.
Hey guys. Sheridan is my uncle. This is my favorite song of his, so I decided to read the comments. When I saw how wonderful they were I sent this link to him. Straight from him he says thank you:)
@carbear92 That's brilliant! Now and again a piece of music comes along that creates a mood that is indescribable and really inspires the imagination. This is one of those pieces. He deserves so much recognition for the score to Brian Cox's series as it adds so much. This piece especially is just perfect in its purpose. I'm even considering putting together a small PC-based synthesiser just to see what I can create myself - I'd love to put compositions together for a living.
This music coupled with Brian's FANTASTIC presenting skills and enthusiasm for astronomy, just puts hairs on the back of my neck. @PolakZver I completely agree!
Fantastic developed composition with the best documentary I've ever seen.
Thank you for putting these pieces up on the tube! Sheridan's music caught my attention when I first saw WOTSS and I think he's one of the UK's most talented incidental musicians.
I'm looking forward to this years "Wonders of the Universe." I'm loathe to make comparisons with "Cosmos" but Dr Cox does seem to be on his way to being the UK's Carl Sagan!
I know some moan because he's an atom smasher rather than an astrophysicist but whilst what he makes is good, we should just sit back and enjoy!
"Empire of the Sun" is a poem to Nature, based on scientific facts. Stunning stuff! :-D
