Nitrous Oxide is N2O, Nitric Oxide is NO!!! the ammonia and oxygen reaction produces Nitric acid which is then further reacted with air to produce N2O which when bubbled through water forms nitric acid.

NO2 + H2O --> 2HNO3 (not balanced)
