  • .....The time of 'carefree' when people did things slower and people met each other more, no people hiding away in their homes all day on the computer, (guilty as charged) people got outside more, people wore the famous 'flip-flop' and leather sandal shoe, there were no other around, Tie-dye T-shirts and tank tops, when you wanted to phone someone, you had to look for a phone on the street, I think the sun shone brighter in those days too! Those were the truly days, brings back smiles now :-)

  • 60´ hippies lifestyle will be "post oil era" mankind life style...........but real hippies, not fashion hippies.

  • you all sound like a bunch of old farts..."errrrr back in my day, we had REAL music. these young hooligans with their black rapper music and their pants on the ground errrr"

  • @izzlemafia

ha ha, some of us, like me are old farts! & proud of it.

you should put some headphones on, smoke a joint & listen to the woodstock albums.

  • @cherrybomb2600 haha fair enough. i actually do like the music.

  • @izzlemafia

errrr, back in my day, you could smoke weed at concerts, even sports arenas! even movie theaters.

errrr, now there's cameras everywhere, they say if you've nothing to hide, ect. errrr

i do think your first post is very funny!

  • Woodstock is History now.Even the Hippies are history: their hair is gray ,now!

  • @zenagoa

  • @zenagoa Well, i am not gray! I am 58 yrs old now and i was one of those hippies! We called ourselves flower children. I went to Woodstock, protested the war, protested against the establishment and just about anything else. It was such a wonderful era in history! I listen to this music tonight, crying about the good times gone by and wishing so much that this great music would return! The music of today is so blah and boring and has no meaning! I cannot stand that hiphop rap crap especially!

  • i was born in the wrong generation! gosh

  • i found waldo at 1:31 haha i knew he was a hippie

  • @4kryptik4 jajaja very funny

  • DROP ACID NOT BOMBS!

    <3

  • Ahh Hendrix... <3 That combined with the pics makes me feel like I was there.

  • It was about CHANGE - try that with your generation - not only thinking "Green" but thinking spiritually "Green" - How can you love each other so much that the petty indifference's fall to the wayside? - It's not that difficult - Revolution means changing the machine to accept and appreciate everyone, not just the select - I hate to quote Star Trek but Spock said; "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one..." - Smoke that for a minute....

  • FLOWER POWER MAN

  • If it replicates Woodstock today, there would rape and crime ... Sad times .. Excuse my English I'm French!

  • paz y amor , y el plus pa el salón

  • Who else was there? I was with a guy named Bob

  • @MrFrankfig It was such a beautiful experience! Like nothing i can describe! We were all one big happy family and we were from all over the country, all races, all different, yet so much alike! We need a movement like this again to get things straightened out again! The estabishment has it all messed up and weve come full circle. First thing we have to do is to get back to some good music again! Get these kids off that pop rock crap and into some real rock with some meaning in it!

  • lets bring the hippies back

  • @tarzann7 We are still here! Come to Santa Rosa, Caifornia every June for the big 3-day event "The Health and Harmony Festival". What a flashback in time.

  • @tarzann7

    They never really went away

  • @tarzann7 NO

  • @tarzann7 lets do that

  • yea, its just crap music nowdays,

music from 60-70-80's was real music, waay better than nowdays

  • @HaloFikus i know :(

  • we need another woodstock i would so go

  • there already was a try at 1999, but inviting metal groups like Limp bizkit turned out a festival of violence, 9 women were raped nekt to the stage (in front) and yeah 3 died.. so... theres only a slight chance that the copy of woddstock 69 would ever occure

  • @livamilAVA In order to have another Woodstock, we have to change the mindset of the youth in this country first. We would have to get rock and roll back in the mainstream and get the message out like we did before. You cant just set up a rock festival with everyone into a pop culture and have it work.

  • Great music

  • im 34 and the closest ive came to woodstock was getting stoned n shit with my parents in the basement listing to some loving spoonful and stones etc, and listining to mom's bra burning and dads wild drug orgie stories, NY in the house \m/

  • it's hard to believe that this was 40 years ago

    i don't feel that old

i wonder what happened to our old bus

lets dance to the music and never grow old

  • Maybe we old farts should get together and have a Hippie reunion weekend and do it up like Woodstock? Get some good bands together and have them learn to play the songs of the 60s or even have the orginal bands play again. Some of them are reuniting and still playing for the arenas. We could have a real Flower Power weekend and show these kids a thing or two about great music and peace. We would only need one rule and that is no hip hop, no rap! Our generation could do it again without violence!

  • honestly! for 2010 there should be a woodstock in the same place same thing.. SAME STYLE EVERYTHING! if it was that good the first time why not do it EVERY YEAR! THE SAME WAY... it just seems those people from ALL OVER for 3 days came together and showed awhole nation/country/world that peace among humans is possible you just have to try!

  • unfortunatly tthat generation, their thoughts, their livings only existed in that time.. today you cant reunite such a huge number of young people with that kind of thoughts.. their minds are beeing shaped with technology, shitty television programs, not to mention the music nowadays doesnt has nothing to do with that good vibe tunes of the 60s...

  • it's so sad, isn't it?

i was born in '96, and i wish more than anything i wasn't. society today makes my heart hurt. people are so insensitive, violent, fake, ridiculously ignorant, and painfully dumbed down. as much as i would love to have a modern day woodstock, it would become a marketing scheme. plus it would undoubtedly end in violence for such a large group of people to be in one place with no rules. people today dont have the same sense of peace or harmony as they did then

    so sad..

    love.

  • i know iwas born in 98 and this time is just so stupid, no one knows what ture rock is and everyone loes technology too much,if there was a woodstock in this time, it wouldnt even compare to what the real woodstock was like. Peace

  • they did that in the 90's man, there was rape's violence and riot's, plus there was alot of shitty bands there like limp bizkit, seems like the music is just getting worse n worse

  • Im 15 dont give a crap for a cell phone, dont have an i pod, and dont like video games. I listen to any old rock n roll records, and try to play my own music. I really wish I could have been around then

  • i wish i had a time machine

  • a few weeks ago i had a dream that i had a time machine, and i was going to go to woodstock, like i had the date all typed in and everything, and then i woke up JUST before i got there, and i was so disappointed! :P

  • I would give anything to have been born in the 50's so I could have lived to see this in my teenage years.

  • @RawrImALionGur i totally feel the same way man.....

  • well what happened woodstock generation why is america so screwed up now stupid people greed up the wazoo take woodstock and stick up your curoo

  • I agree with you. I wonder what horrible event could have happened to alter the views of so many people. Did they just sell out? I was there and I still have the same values--peace, love, harmony, and life. Woodstock was a moment in time that can't be repeated.

  • @thesummerone I believe it was the event of the PC coming on the scene that changed it all. The internet allows everyone to share their political views, their ideas, their thoughts. It is good in a way, but it also allows much more freedom of speech and because you can talk to someone who is faceless, it allows people to say mean things and express mean thoughts that they never could in the old days! This tends to bring hatred and ambivalence and politically divides the country.

  • The young don't need their own idea, Peace never goes out of style.

  • yep back then it was all looking out for each other in peace today these kids are all looking out for them with their ipods cell phones crazy simple things mattered at one time peace people

  • Woodstock was an original idea.

wearing tie dye and headbands is just a cheap imitation, todays young people should come up with their own movement instead of re-hashing what the hippies did.

but that movement would probably include beyonce, lady gaga,a couple of rappers and the cast of some reality show.

67-70 was the greatest period in the history of music.

I wonder if music and culture will ever be that great again?

  • I wonder the same thing everyday, the only thing we can do is appreciate the past for now...I just really would love to "create" a movement, but really, the 60's movement came naturally...

  • right on. any music from the corporate pop machine today is right from satan himself

  • i agree its all just stupid screamo, back in the 60s there was actually peaceful music

  • oh I wish i was born in the 60´s ther was real love, peace and music

  • @aknowneemus Im glad that my brother introduced me to the psychedelic genre :) The new psy is growing more and more. And thanks for that hehe... Then I dont have to listen to all the pop in the radio. Now we just need to get it into the radio, not just the internet radios. But I think that the psy genre will be a big thing the next years.

  • Do your research. it is

  • @aknowneemus the answer to your last question is unfortunately no. i am not privileged enough to have experienced the movement, but i can say that people have changed into mean criticizing people, and there is no bright future in the return of peace. just look at what they did during woodstock 99. it makes me ashamed of my generation. that is why some people wear tie dye today. that is to escape today's society and at the least try to get that great vibe feeling of freedom and peace.

  • @hondain Don't feel bad, i was 4 in 1969. LOL , But i do vaguely remember hippies (early 70s)

I think that some day there will be peace, similar to the 1969/woodstock level.

but i don't believe it will be during our lifetime, sadly.

  • @aknowneemus i hope you are right but i dont see it happening.

i attend a festival every year called the michigan peace fest, which is a woodstock styled festival. its on private property and brings around a thousand or so people through out the weekend. number one rule is leave your hate at the gate. good people go there and it is a little bit of peace. however, once the night gets on with alcohol, i can see the tension in the young.and the feeling disappears.

  • @hondain good comment! and i agree that it's hard to bring people together nowadays. At least for more than an hour or two at the most.

  • @aknowneemus Prolly not. and people still do that to keep it alive. Like me. I was never there to experience it cuz I wasnt even born yet. But I like the style. It suits me better than low riser jeans and aeropostal tops.

  • @kyokohonda10 I was born in 65 and our only contribution to woodstock was listening to the music/buying the records. I do remember hippies though. LOL

If there is anything my generation did postive, it was introduce Mtv.

  • @aknowneemus Hmm Maybe our generation can bring back Tie dye and what not...but not as a copy cat kindna of thing of the 60s but, to show the government the "Movement" can be brought back after 20-30s years of being dormat... we just need to start slowly but eventually enough people will take a stand and rise up and speak out in masses against the government, I would support it 100%....

  • @TheDjBlitzification good point, i'm all for it.

there is enough "negativity" in this world. Peace and love would be a welcome comeback.

  • @TheDjBlitzification Im not of your generation, in fact, im now 58, but i was a hippie back then. One way to start to bring the movement back would be to refuse to buy the modern music crap that is on the market today! to bring back the hippie movement, we have to bring back the acid rock first cause that was the method behind the madness of the protests. It all started with protesting for the right to listen to the music, then the war, then the rebellion of the establishment!

  • @horsenaround peace brother ( makes sign) V

  • @blackdude57 Yeah, believe it or not, the government wanted to censor our music! They said that our rock music was a bad influence on us. Most of the songs from Black Sabbath were not played on the radio cause it was censored because of the protest music against the war. Lets spend the night together by the Stones was censored because it was sexually suggestive! We made a stand and fought for our right to freedom of self expression with our music, hairstyles and clothing, just about everything!

  • @TheDjBlitzification Your generation are already doing it! You have the Occupy movement! All you have to do is start writing some protest songs that include that movement and its ideas and add some music and have a huge occupy weekend on the lawn of the White House! Organize, express your thoughts, love each other, respect each other and develop your own clothing styles to show you are protesting the establishment. Use your freedom of speech to protest everything that is wrong but do it peaceful

  • @aknowneemus Yeah, MTV was great but what the hell happened to it now? Wheres the music? Its all freakin reality shows now! Whose idea was that? I used to love to watch that channel when they had good rock n roll bands from the 80s on it.

  • @aknowneemus Like you said, it's an [idea]. An idea of self-expression, creativity, individualism and cooperation. So how original is that? It wasn't borne of the 60's I'll tell you that. Lets say that the 60's hippies were a cheap imitation of the fakirs in India etc, etc. I hope the IDEA never gets old! I hope there will be hippies in the year 3030 wearing tie dye and headbands- it is our glimmer of hope. Don't be so quick to judge!

  • @hotapplepie2009 the idea of there being hippies "always" is a good one. Just don't go thinking that today's and tomorrows hippies are your grandma's hippies. They are diffferent species.

peace and love hippies died in the early 70s

  • @aknowneemus I don't think "peace and love hippes died in the early 70s." The difference is that the environment is much different today, and new strategies are called for.

  • @mushroomagical the "peace and love hippies" i was referring to are long gone, we still have hippies today that are all for peace and love, they just go by a different name . Sharing and caring for your neighbor is great, but if it includes wearing tie die shirts, buffalo sandals and eating oats you might as well call it what it is.

  • @aknowneemus umm excuse me but your forgetting about boneroo, thats becoming just as big.

  • @aknowneemus why assume all tie-dye, headband wearing people are listening to beyonce and lady gaga? u can tell the phonies. but it's not all a cheap imitation... its a compliment and respectfulness to a generation whose ideals we wish to exude.

  • @babiyogi i'm not assuming they are listening to lady gaga and beyonce. I'm assuming the "promoters" are gonna include those type of acts. Todays tie dye, headband wearers are actually frieinds of mine and alot of them have turned me on to some great music. I'ts the "new woodstock" type of movement that is being forced on them by he current music industry.

  • @aknowneemus

Ohh, I asure you it will.

    Just you wait friend.

  • @aknowneemus

not in my lifetime. woodstock is now incorporated & the concerts they put on, of old hippie bands , is just ok, but flower power productions?! that's what my ticket to "hippiefest" says.

the gov. doesn't want large groups of people enjoying themselves in peace.

they want us to fear each other. terrorism is an excuse.

  • 3 days of peace and music <3

  • 21/m - I want to cry know what I missed out on in those decades (60's-70's)

  • I agree in everything you guys are saying. That ideology was lost . Today we are controlled , ande we don´t the pure freedom.

    Peace and love!

  • 10 byrs b4 my time

  • definiately. look at woodstock. thousands of people coming together to create peace and harmony. you go to a concert today and you have moshing aka. beating the shit out of people, hippies always had a way to connect with one another. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT ALL YOU HIPPIE HATERS!

  • @amilee91 you know why people were full of "peace and harmony"? because no one knew what was going on because they were either drunk, trippin on brown acid or stoned out of their minds ..so why fight ?

  • hippies are fucking amazing. they actually had beliefs and fought for what they believe in. not like today where we are like robots controlled by what society believes is "right." also, tie dying is fun to do and wear. my whole bed is tie dyed. peace.

  • yeah man this whole scene right now is bugged out. I mean back then people where so together and stuff man

  • @amilee91 Yes, you are controlled by the establishment, which is what we fought against and won! We fought for our right of freedom of expression with our music. They wanted to censor our music!! We fought against our parents for our right to wear our hair the way we pleased, we fought for our right to dress the way we wanted in school, we fought against the war, we fought for control of our own lives and knowing we had a real cause brought us together in peace and unification!

  • wow, to think all those 'kids' who said not to trust anyone over thirty, are all in their late 50's, and 60's now ! And those ideals? Well, of course they are not profitable for corporate America, so they were, and still are quashed.

  • i wish i coulda had my pants around my ankles at woodstock

  • Bohemian ideals are hundreds or thousands of years old, not just 40 or so. Arts and music, love and beauty, freedom of speech and expression are human ideals that are more powerful, ultimately, than war or greed or hatred. And most of the hippies I know are well fed with roofs over their head... and only some of them wear tie-dye!

  • How is Jimmy supposed to authorize this ..LOL!!

  • fuck copyright...bunch of facist pigs

  • ehh... i guess

    hehehehhe "D

  • I WISH I COULD BE THERE I LOVE HIPPIES

  • I was at woodstok, It was amazing! they should do it again

  • they've had like 3 woodstocks, but none were as good as the first

  • ummm.... yeah they did. Twice. and it was shit. Woodstock '69 will never happen again. People don't know how to be respectful and loving like they were back then. Now a days, a gathering of 500,000 people means I can rape, vandalize and murder and get away with it cause there are too many people here to notice me.

  • perfect background music. hendrix rules.

  • mancavo solo io cavolo

  • yeaaaaaaaah way to go, hippies. the best music ever

  • PLEASE LETS RECREATE THE WOODSTOCK! i understand it will never be the same as this one. i dont even think we have any rock ledgends like we did back then. everyone is not orginal and talented like jimi and all them

  • Nahh its not a good idea because we became violent and crazy..its sur if woodstock came back..There will be crime or shit

  • my parents were hippies

oh why oh why did i have to be born in the 90s?

    this is sad

  • I feel same!!

    I WANT TO BE THERE!!!

(I was also born in the 90s...)

  • I know the feeling.Unfortunatly,Being born in 1961,I was only eight years old then, but I do at least remember some of the sixties.I remember hippies living next door where I used to live and there were pretty awesome.I was not old enough to be a hippie but would have loved to have been one.

  • Along with the last image which has 1999 listed, there is an image of the stage that wasn't from 1969.

None the less it is a good presentation!

  • Yes, mixed in 1994's into this.

    to bad.

  • I am With Hippies! Make Love Not War!

    Peace!

  • Great song by Jimmi and great pics!!! I love it!!

    Thanks !!

  • I like this cool video, and its the same year Elvis opened in vegas. 1969 E.
