Why not use something like armyrangersrule or something that denotes you as a fan not someone making a misleading claim? To all of those wishing to enlist and make it into the 75th Ranger Regiment: the only guaranteed way to get a shot is to negotiate Option 40 (RIP) in your contract when you go to MEPS. Even if the liaison says there are no slots available, persist. And don't worry about Ranger School right now. If you make it into the Regiment, they will send you when you're ready.
your best bet is actually to ask for it towards the end of basic, epecially if you go to benning... your right though, if you can make it through rip, ranger school should not be a problem

Army Special Forces is referred to as "Special Forces" any other unit under the flag of SOCOM or USASOCOM is referred to as SOF or "Special Operations Forces" SEALs are not "Special Forces" they are also SOF of the Naval Special Warfare dept. Just as SOAR/160th is SOF aviation support.

Hate to be technical but Special Forces is a civilian term, offically its Special Operations and Delta, Green Berets, and Rangers are all in it. Also the Ranger regiment is the Special Ops. group for direct opeations, rest are guys they mix in with other units to give those units that extra capability and ege.

No you get taught how to operate and survive in all of the environments at ranger school. Its not just seeing if people can last that long in hard conditions, it teaches them to strive in those conditions to overpower an enemy. It's a great training course that creates a great deal of battle efficient soldiers.

Desert Phase (Gone.) Any thoughts on why Desert Phase (Bliss) got nixed. Patrolling in a snowstorm in the desert (winter class) made for some serious hallucinations when every snow covered bush and yucca looked like your ranger buddy at 3:00am and no sleep in 2 1/2 days. I'm sure Dugway was equal or worse when they did desert phase there. Even colder at Dugway in winter. Just wondering if anyone knew why they dropped that phase, especially in today's OA.

no he's right. to be a ranger you dont need to go to ranger school. thats if you want to be an NCO or just more professional. any army soldier can go to ranger school even if they aren't rangers
RIP stands for Ranger Indoctrination Program. It is a school for privates who are going to the 75th. It teaches essential knots, ranger history, some tactics and all that jazz but basically it is a three week selection process. They kick your butt for three weeks and if you pass all of it, you are in the 75th. RIP is not Ranger School. Ranger School is where you earn your RANGER tab. If you are in the 75th, you must pass Ranger School and earn your tab in order to make rank.

well it depends... i had childhood athsma and to this day i still have a bit of irritation when i go out on long runs but it doesnt bother me as long as i drink water and/or chew some grass or maybe a bit of chewing gum... basically if im hydrated im fine! but you can reduce it by pushing your lungs to their absolute respiratory limits somehow, because then you've seen the worst of it and it's not so bad...

i went to infantry school then airborne school right after. during the end of airborne school they had 2 ranger reps come and give us a briefing on what a ranger does and stuff. i declined when asked if i wanted to join. anyway i was told that you could get it on your paperwork when you enlisted. request infantry (11x), then airborne school.thats how i did it. just make sure its on your paperwork!

marines are not the 1st to fight, they get there in time to stuff the body bags & take the Rangers glory. My husband used to get pissed when he heard the marines took an air base that he took (marines DON'T take air bases). He still gets mad but he can laugh about it too because of all the times he had to go back to an area Rangers secured & bail the marines out when they screwed up. People can think what they want about this comment but I lived through the deployments, I know the truth.

i went to infantry school then airborne school right after. during the end of airborne school they had 2 ranger reps come and give us a briefing on what a ranger does and stuff. i declined when asked if i wanted to join. anyway i was told that you could get it on your paperwork when you enlisted. request infantry (11x), then airborne school.thats how i did it. just make sure its on your paperwork!

marines are not the 1st to fight, they get there in time to stuff the body bags & take the Rangers glory. My husband used to get pissed when he heard the marines took an air base that he took (marines DON'T take air bases). He still gets mad but he can laugh about it too because of all the times he had to go back to an area Rangers secured & bail the marines out when they screwed up. People can think what they want about this comment but I lived through the deployments, I know the truth.

i take it that you were a Marine. I say that because I know that you are not so stupid as to say something about them without having been one yourself, right? Rangers are special forces, they aren't supposed to be given all the glory. that is part of their job description. additionally, what have you done to serve this country? dont say the marines "take" glory. they have earned their right to receive glory.

Rangers in the 75th Ranger Regiment are airborne qualified. "Rangers" that just graduate from Ranger School, may or may not be Airborne qual'd.
