  • Actually this is a 1960 recording from Carnagie Hall, where Bellafonte shared the stage with Odetta. Quite possibly the fainter voice was Odetta and the louder portion was Bellafonte. SO, no debate it's both. Wiki it.

  • One of Belafonte's best! Thank you so much. I have the vinyl LP somewhere ~0;-)

  • That is Odetta's version of "Water Boy." That's NOT Harry Belafonte's voice. :)

  • @qorogh that's not odetta - i 'm pretty sure :P

  • @TheTriana0, see this clip to see Odetta performing Water Boy live:

That's definitely Odetta. In fact, another audio clip is on YouTube with the same performance as yours, entitled Water Boy by Odetta, posted by brendandawna, detailing the Belafonte album on which she performed it, Belafonte Returns to Carnegie Hall, from 1960.

  • @qorogh if you say so,i just couldnt distinguish her voice in this performance, now that i'm hearing it again, you do have a point

  • @qorogh I don't know who Odetta is but this version came to me on a Harry Belafonte EP from 1956, it's Harry Belafonte's voice, definitely! It's not ANYONE else.

  • @qorogh silly billy you
