  • this is a sad song, but also and interesting one in fact. i had to play this exact song in band this last year and it does not have a final note, thus the name, Final Alice

  • thank you for posting this strangely evocative piece. something about the lead female singers' haunting voice.

  • @Chesterton7 read the back-story behind this unbelievable haunting piece. it breaks the heart and makes the piece unbelievably, almost painful to listen to. But there is beauty in the pain. Please do not remove this incredible piece of music.

  • this song is sooo very sad

  • A boat beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July--
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear--
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die.
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.

  • alice pleasance liddel is sad

  • It is lovely and sad. Nice version and thank you for posting.

  • We sang this song for chorus. It was very interesting to learn the back story for it.

  • Thankyou for posting this. I've not heard this music for years and I can't find a recording anywhere. The one conducted by Solti seems to be out of issue. The full orchestral version is a fantastic work. I hope to hear it again some time.

  • it's a very sad song... as sad as the unhappy Mr. Dodgson. Alice Liddell was his only true and impossible love. I think they are now together, living in the stars
