  • its Ricardo Arjona,

  • does anyone know the name of the artist he's recording for, and\or the tune ?` I'd like to find the full version of this tune, to hear more of this wonderful guitar playing

  • @jdean9 The name of the artist is Juan Carlos Baglietto and the song name is Media Luz en Paris

  • @mezafine Thanks a lot!! :)

  • Hope the vocals are just a guide track.

  • James Tyler Studio model Guitar with the Landau secret humbucker in the bridge position. A Phenominal instrument

  • Thats Mike-ee.........hes LORD.

  • I should also add the Landau along with a few others were the main originators of the wet/dry/wet amp setup...basically mic or take a line out from your main amp and run it into your rack with your stereo effects into a stereo power amp out to a couple of cabs either side of your 'dry amp'..i tried this recently and it sounds huge....Landau also had the TC 1210 stereo chorus unit in his rack along with tri chorus so it could be either ..i'm not too familar with either as their rare in Ireland..

  • he's so damn talented!!

  • Mr. Landau you are amazing !!! Taste , Soul, SOUND and more ... you got it all !!! I must listen to thees 1'33 as ofen as posible coz it is more than words to me. WOW!!! REGARDS.

  • Anybody have an idea whats significant if you want to obtain this kind of sound? Pickup position, effects etc..

And what is the "tri-chorus" mentioned earlier?

    Thanks!

  • The chief thing is a Fender Strat in the 4th position. Use a chorus with a pitchshift effect on it, some compression, a bit of EQ, and some VERY DEEP reverb with delay.

The "Tri-Stereo Chorus" by Dyno-My-Piano is a rack chorus with three delay lines, it basically "ripples" like water, very liquidy sound as you can hear in this clip.

  • Hi... i reckon you would be ok with a strat type guitar in the 2nd or 4rd positions on the switch into a clean amp with some compresson, chorus and a bit of delay/reverb,of couse Mr Landau uses a rack with all sorts of top end processors for his studio work but if you check out his current setup in vids on youtube you will see he uses a modest pedalboard into a amp with a single lexicon unit in the amps loop for delay/reverb...with people of this calibre it's all in the heart/soul/fingers as well

  • His current pedalboar Mike is using now is not to create that glassy liquid cleansound. He is using his Arion stereo chorus for that fast leslie kind of sound. You can't compare his current sound with back then.

  • @mdjababoe I've been looking for a label to hang on Landua' s sound and I think your's will do nicely. For me this is the sound above others I would choose as my favourite of the 80's. For many reasons, including the one you quote here and I suppose musical fashion this sound is sadly wanting today

  • Great clean sound,...

  • the sound !!!i love ce guitariste !!

  • Man, this wants me to start listen to 80's cheesy latin ballads! Michael Landau is the king!!!!!

  • Dear robinelfstrom if you like this one go to hear Luis Miguel ( Aries and 20 Anos )

full of ballads with chorused clean strats fro Michael Landau : -)

  • And Steve Stevens is on it too! :)

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • I first heard a very similar sound on Helen Watson's album on a track called "Lazy"; just as lovely as this! Mike is an awesome player!! Check out Joni Mitchell's album "Chalkmark in a Rainstorm" for more of Mike lush sound.

  • amazing tone!!!

  • i think that chorus is a tri-stereo

    gorgeous tone

  • I think you're right.

  • You are right.

  • Oh! I know that tune! Its on every Latin artists record...and on each track!

    :-)

  • lol

  • Thats a "James Tyler Guitar"

  • Amazing Fender sound , the songwriter of this song is Ruben Goldín and the singer I think is Baglieto both of them from Rosario, Santa Fe , Argentina

  • nobody gets a chorus sound like mike landau.

  • absolutly! but sometimes i wish, it would be a somewone more natural tone. but that´s just my opinion :-)

  • i'm sure this recording was quite awhile back judging from the high processing and yes, i have an arion sch1 and a pcm 70. these effects are key to getting those sounds.

  • I love his tone on this clip! The album he's reocrding here was released in 1993 so this clip is probably from 92/93.

  • thanks for that info

  • suono:da paura!!!!!!

  • why can't I get a chorus effect like that with my TC Electronic SCF Stereo Chorus/Flanger?

  • try an arion sch1 ;)

  • Because it's a combination of fine pitch (detune) and a (tri stereo) chorus.

  • ah, thanks

  • So tasteful played!!!

  • this is the best guitarist

  • grande micheal continua così sei un grande

    the best

  • I made a mistake, the title is "Media Luz En Paris", the singer is Juan Carlos Baglietto

  • Does anyone know what Artist and song this is?

  • The song is of an Argentinian singer named Juan Carlos Baglietto and the tune is "media noche en paris", for the ones who want to listen Mr Landau playing.

  • I couldn't find any information on this singer having sung this song nor could I find anything relating to Michael Landau having played with him.

  • the name is "Media Luz En Paris" sorry

  • Got it thanks! I checked out the album and Michael's playing is all over it. Not a bad album......

  • Got it thanks! I checked out the album and Michael's playing is all over it. Not a bad album......

  • i agree with mr1aa im a big fan too!!!

  • Love landau's comping!

  • I made a mistake: thats a James Tyler guitar, NOT a Valley Arts Guitar.

  • 01:22 - 01:30 is very dreamy and luscious!! OMG!!!

  • Classic Landau riff slide at 01:12 -01:14. Beautiful. And also the echo at 00:10. luscious tonality.

  • Sweet chiming notes from that Valley Arts guitar! Nice!!

  • It's a Tyler and not a Vally Arts

  • by me, mike is not as good live as in the studio.

  • You guys should check out some of the tracks on Joni Mitchell's album "wild things run fast" from about '82. . he plays some nice touches on that . . cool album !

  • the name of that song is MEDIA LUZ EN PARIS by Juan Carlos Baglietto from Argentina... Greetings!!!

  • the song is good to me, good harmony and great phrases of him!

  • In the typical faggotry of youtube users, half miss the point that its about his playing not the quality of what he's playing on. Beautiful note choice as always.

  • that song sucks, nobody can save it, not even Mike, haha

  • Michael has done biggest part of his career in the studio playing tracks like this... This track sounds really awesome. Some kids maybe thinks Mike is only rock guitarist but i've followed his playing over 20 years. He has played very different styles but his playing has been always amazing. He has really good musical taste. It's not good to focus only to one music style.

  • dude mike is extremely versatile guitarist and has great taste i'm just saying this song is gay man and i like all kinds of music, all respect great guitarist can't save bad singer/songwriter

  • I don't understand Spanish.. haven't heard that cd the finished product either...

  • that lush shimmery chorus tone makes me melt....

  • he must hate recording this kind of shit....

    he so great

  • what a horrendous feckin song!

  • The Best Comp guitarist in the world, thats my opinion.

  • Awesome.

  • the master Guitar ! this kind is so GOOD !

  • I hope one day you will be able to get any book on the history of the guitar and Landau will be in there with the essential player's to look at.

    Amongst Hendrix/EVH/SRV/Eric Johnson etc

  • michael landau is god

  • michael landau is good

  • Actually he's very god.

  • james tyler guitar sound great

  • beautiful playing/sounds/tone/feel.
