I saved the last episode because I didn't want it to end, may have to watch the whole lot again some time. Thank you again for making these available. Bravo!
Wow. I am speechless. Thank you zeusbark for the many hours of utter enjoyment. I will probably return in a year or two to see it all over again. Continuing the Claudian saga, Peter Ustinov's Nero would have flourished in a serious drama of this caliber. One may say that his talents were wasted on the caricature of the emperor in "Quo Vadis"; however, there are moments in that production that a 3-dimensional character emerges. So, that's where I am going next, unless you have a suggestion!
Outstanding. But hang on, is that Christopher Biggins as Nero?!
I really wish TV bigwigs would consider producing quality of this kind again. It doesn't need expensive sets or CGI, just a few togas and a bunch of great actors that take their art seriously.
Many thanks zeusbark for this excellent posting to YuTu.
Breath-taking. I never thought I would ever mature enough to grasp my Father's passion for ancient literature or whatever it's proper label is. I personally liked the first emperor. He was jolly (most of the time). I wonder how much of this is historically accurate. Claudius, a fool? Well we're all foolish in one way and wise in another.
This was my first time watching the series and it really was as great as I had heard. You are awesome for uploading all of it and somehow managing to do so in complete episodes!
Thanks for putting this up. It's been about 20 years since I last saw it. I've just watched the entire thing in three days...what shall I watch now?! :-)
@kkushel Try The Western Tradition with Eugene Weber. Or I, Claudius, the audio book, and l Claudius the God. Or Edith Hamilton's The Greek Way in Audio book.
I'm finishing my first time through, also in three days. It's gonna be hard to watch anything else after this, because I've seen how good "good" is ;-)
I first watched I, Claudius when it premiered on North American television in 1976. I was 13 years old. It's as moving a drama now as it was 35 years ago.
I have to thank you for posting this entire series---Well done! I saw this when it was first aired as a series on PBS when i was in my teens. This time I watched all of the 12 episodes in less than 2 days. I couldn't stop watching. I'm astounded at how well this production has held up. The writing and acting is very high-quality.
@nocount1 I have to say you are welcome. As much as I enjoy all the praising, what I am most pleased about is that people can watch this wonderful show. Probably the best drama on television ever created. Glad you enjoyed it!
@nocount1 I saw that airing as well, but, it was right after I was married. My husband and I nev er missed an episode. Then when it came out in VHS I bought it for him for Christmas and we watched it all over again.
I've been deep cleaning my kitchen and family room the last two days and have had it going the entire time.
"It doesn't follow that your first three marriage were a tragedy your fourth shouldn't be a triumph." Heh. Actually, I think it very well might!
