NYOil is my man and all... but we DID Try groovin with these new kids... but it all got too dame coonery bafoonery and we NEVER received anything of substance.
And then the corporate product was allowed to take over... they had the vehicle Hip Hop had become dependent upon to move thier product... Radio / the mainstream media... Hip Hop has to go back to the essence... The underground!
Finally I heard a black men saying the same fucking thing I've been saying for years: there's black men and niggers. Niggers are lil' bitches while black men are respectable hard working people. Best freestyle!
DAS EFX was style for style's sake. EVERY BEAT on the 'Dead Serious' album was FIRE!
Honestly, I listened to a Young Money track a minute ago. It was decent, I won't be falling all over myself to go buy it. I have 2 brothers in their very late teens. About 4 years ago I had them in the car listening to BDK and Mister Cee was scratching. They wanted to know, 'what that noise was?' How is a generation that doesn't know what a scratch is in a position to figure out 'What Hip Hop is'?
MTX: I feel ya. It is sad that youngins who CLAIM to know what Hip Hop is, don't even and CAN'T even recognize one of the MOST FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS of HipHop, that being the SCRATCH. It's simple - when you allow eMpTyV, and mainstream media to define what Hip Hop is, and when you have too many ignorant elders and youngsters who HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT REALLY IS, then you have the blind leading the blind. Peace.
Important thing to remember. 'Sample Based Hip Hop' was performed by some of THE BEST MUSICIANS in the world! I personally did a track and used The Staple Singers, Stevie Wonder and the Rolling Stones along with my drum machine. I really hope someone isn't going to try to fix their mouth to tell me some damned retard on Frooty Loops is gonna come tighter than that??? For ANYONE that believes that old BS just please continue listening to those beats that sound like CP3O and R2D2 knockin Boots! One
The Corporations have cross miscegenation ownership of all the media production and delivery vehicles.
