The roof indeed did collapse. The roof lost structural integrity which is a definition of collapse. Take a look at the Oxford English or Merriam-Webster dictionary.

And regarding my education, I'm pretty sure the graduate school I attended was a few years after I finished grade one. And if you're going to level a comment regarding education, please be sure to use proper capitalization, punctuation and spelling.
