Thanks so much for this. This is really the first really helpful and easy to understand tutorial on what all this drawbar stuff is about. It's really not that hard it seems. Just need to get to an organ and mess around.
@mindingosafado They are preset keys, you can save your sounds on each key and when you press them your sound changes. The last two keys are controlled by the drawbars, I think the c key is controlled by the second part of drawbars and Bb by the first but I'm not sure.. Hope I helped!!
Couldn't you add a little sustain, and perhaps decay as well, to the accompanying keys (lower keyboard), to it doesn't die out every time you switch settings, for a smoother play?
Also, I'd prefer the main tune to be louder, and the accompany to be a tad lower - but that's preferences :)
I was responding to the person asking if the guy in the video would add sustain to the lower manual. He doesn't understand that the beauty of a Hammond is that the notes last as long as you hold them.
1st is Eb sus4 Ab, Bb and Eb 2nd is Eb major G, Bb and Eb 3rd is C dim F#, C and Eb Add Ab and Bb to the 3rd chord making something that I had to check on the internet: C m flat5 aug5 7th (Wew! Long chord name) then the 4th chord is Bb sus4 7th F, Ab, Bb and Eb I used my ear and visual here, that's what I found out, you could do the same... running outta characters.
I hope that you realise that you have a God given gift, you are indeed very good, you have soul in your heart, liston to Ray Charles on youtube doing let it be, you Sir, have that kinda Stuff !
Wow! What a kickass video! The guy's got such a great way of explaining the logic behind the tricks of the trade. And he's got a nice, understated style that doesn't wear on the listener. Awesome.
thanks a bunch man...you have helped me eliminate the "i don't know what the heck i'm doing syndrome" when I have to get on one of these when no keyboards are around...lol..not a good feeling
Man, just amazing! (grace) You jazz it up sometimes and it's sooo good! Your explanation is very good too. I love the Hammond sound, and I think it's easy to like because at the very heart of it is a sinewave, which no human being can dislike!

His chords are more than just plain majors and 7ths. This is real music. Brilliant.
