  • Really Nice playing, nice tone ! ! ! Really enjoying it !

  • tunisia my city héhhh

  • Grr, it makes me cringe when those minor second eighths during the intro are played straight. Swing, dammit!

Sorry! Your playing is divine. Great tone too. Too many people these days play with a trebly, cutting tone that gives the guitar a bad name, but you, sir are defying the norm. Thank you.

  • @LimboShrimp Also, I know Dizzy himself conducted them like that - they just sound better swung to my ears.

  • nice

  • really smooth! =) cool. i like it !

  • Hi,this is just like a gibson johnny smith model just that it has the finger tailpiece on it.!

  • Hi,this is a L-5 body with a super 400/johnny smith neck with a floating johnny smith pickup.

  • wow very nice guitar -well play -greetings from germany -winni

  • NICE. and really nice L5.

  • Thank you.

  • just lovely !

working on this right now and you have great ideas..

great feel and super tone out of that instrument

    shally

  • Thank you Shally.

  • Charlie christian all down strokes, Wes also

  • where did you get this backing track?

  • It's not a backing track. It's our own production.

  • corny vid. good playing though.

  • niice arrangement :)

  • Jeff beck also only uses his thumb, so your'e in good company!

  • i use my thumb as well as a pic but thumb is the best sound.. Wes played better with his thumb than Kenny Burrell did with a plectrum playing sounds tight..what year is that beast your playing?

  • I agree with your comment. Nevertheless, about Wes and Kenny Burrell, each have a particular sound and I love as much Kenny as Wes.

  • yeah i love every guitarist, everyone brings something to the table.. I wasnt bashing Kenny :)

  • thumb downstroking gives me best articulation too, the tone is more consistent .. and I am a slow player anyway :)

  • His thumb sounds great with the octaves,

    does the guitar justice

  • I've never seen anyone use thier thumb the way you do for everything. Great playing and beautiful instrument. Cheers

  • Thank you for your support. The Guitar is a Gibson Super V with a floating pickup BJB.

  • does the name wes montgomery ring a bell?

  • geniallllllllllllllll

    5++++++

  • under what harmonic base did you play the solo i mean, what key are U using?

  • Hi Ibours. Well, I can't answer to your question as unfortunatly, I don't read a single note of music.

  • whoooaa, i've never heard a jazz player say that. but just because you can't read standard notatiton doesn't mean you don't know your chords or scales right?

and do you use your thumb to play everything for any song?

  • No, I am totally unable to tell you in what harmonic I make a solo or the name of the chord I play, excepted the main Minors and Majors (that I never use in Jazz).

About my right hand, I use my thumb for all the songs I play, solos as rhythms. I just use a pick to make rhythm guitar when I play Funky stuff.

  • my god the amount of dexterity you have in your thumb is unbelievable. i bet yah you've never lost at thumb wrestling. so wait you've never ever played any pieces that need you to use all your fingers or do you just work out a way to use just your thumbs? like how about for classical pieces?

  • Thank you Philiphie. About your question, as I only use my thumb and no other fingers, I have to adapt the song to my guitar technique every time. I don't play classical pieces (and I won't be able to...)

  • is there actually a particular reason to as why you only use your thumb?

  • No particular reasons. I just prefer the hot sound of my guitar when I play with my thumb.

  • philphie

I was taught by another great guitarist

"Playing with the thumb takes you to another place", I have a few training videos on YouTube where i use the thumb

  • Nice track. Thank you.

  • I like your sound very smooth.

  • Super Guitariste ! Super Musique ! Bravo !!
